2022 Honda CB300R BS6 Specs Leak Ahead Of Launch

Image – Technical DocksUnlike the BS4 model that was imported as CKD, new Honda BS6 CB300R will be manufactured locally
With growing preference for 200cc-500cc motorcycles, Honda will be bringing back its popular CB300R. Launch is expected in January 2022. This will be the smallest capacity bike in Honda’s big bikes range in India. CB300R was launched in 2019, but was discontinued when stricter emission norms came into effect.
    Honda BS6 CB300R details
As revealed at India Bike Week 2021, 2022 Honda CB300R is largely the same as BS4 model. Some key features include retro-style round headlamp, flat and wide handlebar, exposed frame, rugged-styled engine guard, sculpted fuel tank, split seat, and chunky upswept exhaust. New BS6 CB300R gets golden USD forks, which significantly enhances its sporty character. In comparison, the BS4 model had USD forks in metallic shade.
New CB300R continues with the blacked-out look and feel. This theme is evident with the blacked-out parts such as headlamp casing, engine, frame and alloy wheels. Exhaust comes in an exciting contrast of black with chrome accents.
It is possible that colour options could be updated for new Honda CB300R. BS4 model was available in colour options of Candy Chromosphere Red and Matte Axis Grey Metallic. Another key change could be a new LCD multifunction meter. It could be a lighter, slimmer unit as compared to that of BS4 model. A new range of Bluetooth-based connectivity features could be on offer as well.
    2022 Honda CB300R BS6 – Specs
    2022 Honda CB300R BS6 Specs
New CB300R will use the same engine as earlier, which has been updated to comply with BS6 emission norms. In its BS4 format, the bike was powered by a 286cc liquid cooled motor. It generates 30.4 hp of max power at 8,000 rpm and 27.4 Nm of peak torque at 6,500 rpm. In its BS6 format, the engine delivers max power of 22.9 kW / 30.7 hp @ 9,000 rpm. It is mated to a 6-speed multiplate wet clutch transmission.
Responsive, free-revving profile of the engine ensures that it can suit the needs of both urban commutes and highway cruising. The engine is equipped with a counter-balancer, which further enhances overall ride experience.
The bike utilizes a lightweight, yet strong steel chassis, integrated with USD forks at front and monoshock rear suspension. It has 17-inch wheels at both ends, shod with 110/70 front and 150/60 rear tyre. Braking duties are performed by 296 mm disc at front and 220 mm disc at rear. Dual-channel ABS is offered as standard.
    2022 Honda CB300R BS6
By manufacturing the bike locally, Honda should be able to launch BS6 CB300R at a competitive price point. Just before BS4 model was discontinued, the bike was available at Rs 2.41 lakh. BS6 CB300R will continue to rival the likes of KTM 390 Duke (~ Rs 2.87 lakh) and BMW G310R (~ Rs 2.60 lakh).
Just like its predecessor, new Honda CB300R will be sold via the company’s Big Wing outlets. It will have a better reach now, as Honda is working to expand Big Wing dealership network across India. This is part of the company’s plan to aggressively target the middleweight motorcycle segment. Tesla Delivered Almost a Million EVs Worldwide in 2021

In 2021, Tesla says, it delivered 936,172 vehicles around the world. Exactly how many were in the U.S.—or in China or Europe or elsewhere—the company isn’t saying and doesn’t have a habit of ever saying. The sales figures were an 87 percent increase from Tesla’s 2020 sales, and the automaker has now posted six quarters of record high deliveries in a row.The best way we can tell how many EVs Tesla sold in the U.S. comes from a recent recall, in which the company said it would fix all of the Model 3 sedans it sold from 2017 to 2020: 356,309.Anyone who thinks the legacy automakers are catching Tesla in the electric-vehicle sales race should take a quick look at some recently released figures. Over the weekend, Tesla announced it delivered 308,600 vehicles in the fourth quarter of 2021. Model S and Model X EVs made up 11,750 of those deliveries, while the bulk—296,850—were Model 3 and Model Y deliveries. These numbers brought Tesla’s 2021 full-year deliveries to 936,172 vehicles. The 936,000 vehicle deliveries represent an 87 percent increase from 2020, Reuters and other news sources noted, based on Tesla’s announcement dated January 2, while the 306,600 deliveries for the quarter mean that Tesla delivered 71 percent more electric vehicles in the fourth quarter of 2021 than it did a year earlier.

Tesla’s 308,600 deliveries last quarter made it the best quarter ever, said the automaker, beating the 241,300 EVs it delivered in the previous record quarter, the third quarter of 2021. Reuters reports that Tesla has set new record delivery numbers for six quarters in a row now, despite the well-known problems that the auto industry is having with various supply chains and a lack of semiconductor chips. Tesla doesn’t break out its deliveries by country, but its sales are strongest in Europe and China, the New York Times notes. Tesla itself called those two regions “important markets” in its last SEC filing, but the U.S. is still the region where Tesla makes the most money. In the third quarter of 2021, for example, an SEC filing shows Tesla made more than $6 billion in revenue in the U.S., compared to $3.1 billion in China and $4.2 billion in “other” regions. As for the actual number of Tesla sold in the U.S., we know that it sold 356,309 Model 3s here for model year 2017 to 2020, or an average of just under 90,000 a year for those years. Of course, since Tesla’s sales are going up, that’s not a reliable figure for a year. In any case, the confirmation came through recent recall documents regarding problems with the EV’s backup camera’s wiring harness. Perhaps when the company’s next major recall happens, we’ll learn more about how many of the almost million EVs the California automaker sold last year were in its home country.

Mercedes-Benz Vision EQXX Concept Is a Sleek Sedan with 620-Mile Range

Range is the big number on the Mercedes-Benz Vision EQXX, revealed today as part of the annual CES technology show and claimed to be “the most efficient Mercedes-Benz ever.”The production-viable, although not production-intended, electric sedan puts out only 201 horsepower but is claimed to deliver 620 miles on a charge. Theoretically, of course. The single-motor, most likely rear-wheel-drive EQXX boasts virtuous features such as vegan leather, solar panels, recycled-plastic trim—and an extremely slick 0.17 drag coefficient.
This content is imported from YouTube. You may be able to find the same content in another format, or you may be able to find more information, at their web site.

While automakers revealing futuristic EV concepts tend to prioritize promises of performance over range, Mercedes is reversing that equation with the Vision EQXX. The compact four-door has been unveiled as part of the CES technology show in Las Vegas—although the automaker participated virtually thanks to COVID concerns. The claimed power output is a relatively modest 201 horsepower, but the company promises that the car has been designed to be able to deliver more than 620 miles (1000 km) of real-world driving on a single charge. But that big claim has the typical concept-car squishiness to it, as it isn’t comparable to the range figure of any other EV. It’s not a number from the WLTP test cycle used in Europe nor is it a U.S. EPA range figure, but instead what Mercedes describes as the result of “digital simulations based in real-life traffic conditions.” Whether it might beat the Lucid Air Dream’s impressive 520-mile EPA rating is anyone’s guess.

The EQXX looks production viable—even having the door mirrors that the zanier future-looking concepts increasingly do without—but the car seems to be hinting at next-generation advances rather than offering a solid promise. This concept, the company says, will act as a “technology blueprint for series production.”

    Mercedes-Benz

Mercedes has only released limited technical details, but it is clear that the EQXX is short and svelte by the brand’s standards. There is no word on overall length, but confirmation of a 110.0-inch wheelbase suggests it will be a little longer than the A-class sedan, which has 107.4 inches between its axles and a shorter rear overhang. We don’t have a width figure, but the head-on view makes it clear that the EQXX is also much narrower than an average Benz, and also that the rear track is two inches narrower than the front, with the ultra-slippery shape responsible for a claimed drag coefficient of just 0.17.

    Mercedes-Benz

202 MPG? Aerodynamic considerations have clearly dictated much else of the EQXX’s sleek form, especially the long, shallow angle of the falling roofline and the retro droop of the rear fenders, also the way the bodywork tucks in beneath the full-width lighting element at the back above an active, deployable diffuser that motors out at speed. The outline of the trunklid confirms that the Mercedes vision of the future is also a sedan rather than a hatchback or SUV, which is also pleasingly old-fashioned.

From the reveal on livestream Monday, Jan. 3.
    Mercedes-Benz via YouTube

The wind-cheating shape plays a large part in Mercedes’s claimed powertrain efficiency, with the official release saying the car can travel six miles on just 1.0 kWh of electrical energy, a figure equivalent to a combustion car capable of 202 mpg (which is close to the efficiency that Mercedes describes as “the golden figure of one liter per 100 kilometers”). The comparison is complicated by the fact that, according to Mercedes, the EQXX’s driveline is 95 percent efficient. That means only 5 percent of the energy put into the battery pack fails to make it to the road. Even the most efficient gasoline engines struggle to do better than 35 percent. This is why the EQXX can put up a big range number without a massive battery pack, Mercedes claiming that EQXX has slightly less than 100 kWh of usable capacity, about as much energy as three gallons of regular unleaded gas, but the car is able to turn much more of this into movement. The company is also very proud of the underfloor battery’s compact size and relatively modest weight, which is 50 percent smaller and 30 percent lighter than the 107.8-kWh pack in the EQS. A 900-Volt Battery Pack The pack was developed jointly with AMG’s High Performance Powertrains division in the U.K., which creates Mercedes F1 engines as well as the almost equally exotic powerplant for the long delayed (but nearly here) AMG One. This operates at a high 900 volts and uses what are described as high silicon anodes capable of holding more energy than lesser cells, with a compact design allowing the same housing to accommodate electronic control gear. The battery’s total weight, 1091 pounds, is impressively light given the pack’s capacity, with the car’s claimed overall mass of 3858 pounds being only slightly higher than that of a standard-range Tesla Model 3. Strangely, there is no official word on the other side of the powertrain beyond apparent confirmation that the EQXX uses a single motor with rear-wheel drive. Mercedes does say that the concept features an underfloor cooling plate for aerodynamic efficiency, active air flaps to channel cooling air, and a heat pump to help heat the cabin. It also features solar panels, although the claimed ability of these to add up to 15 miles of range on a sunny day doesn’t come from directly charging the high-voltage battery but rather by using the energy created to operate the car’s blower fan, lights, infotainment, and other ancillaries.

    Mercedes-Benz

The Now Inevitable Wide Infotainment ScreenThe EQXX’s cabin is dominated by what seems the inevitable conclusion of modern UI design—an LED screen that runs across the full width of the dashboard, unbroken by vertical seams. This is 47.5 inches wide and offers 8K resolution with a 7680-by-660-pixel display that will require some substantial graphical firepower to operate. It certainly looks crisp in the pictures. The official release also enthuses that “a star-cloud avatar, reminiscent of our namesake, Mercedes Jellinek, is the ethereal guide. Shape-shifting in response to the driver’s needs and taking care of the passengers, she makes the journey into a luxury experience.” But we have absolutely no idea what that means.Inside, something close to a full set of sustainability boxes is checked off. For instance, there are two types of vegan leather, one made from the root structure of mushrooms and the other derived from cactus fibers in a “bio-based polyurethane matrix.” There are carpets made from bamboo, and there’s trim that incorporates recycled plastics woven into a shimmering fabric. The exterior bodywork is made from what is described as low-CO2 steel made from scrap, with doors made from carbon fiber and glass-reinforced plastics. The EQXX’s efficient minimalism is strongly reminiscent of another future-looking German prototype: the similarly slippery XL1 diesel plug-in hybrid that Volkswagen put into very limited production in Europe in 2013. The Mercedes’s four seats and four doors make it more practical, and it weighs more than twice as much, but the front end design is strikingly similar. It will be interesting to see how much of the EQXX’s thinking translates into future production models.

2022 CES: What Automakers Will Reveal at the Partly Virtual Show

    Tim Causa/Consumer Technology Association

More than 2200 exhibitors will be at CES this year from January 5 to 7—at least, that was the number as of December 31—but overall, the show is getting way scaled down, with many major companies deciding that an in-person show is not the right move to start off 2022.In the automotive space, General Motors, BMW, and Mercedes all canceled their physical presence, but smaller automotive and related companies including Fisker, BrightDrop, and Blink Charging still plan to have people in Vegas for the show. Two exciting new electric vehicles—the Chevrolet Silverado EV and the Mercedes-Benz Vision EQXX concept—will be unveiled through online events during CES.The rapid increase in the number of positive COVID cases spreading across the U.S. changed the way many people celebrated the holidays, and the start of a new year isn’t stopping the spread just yet. CES, the massive electronics and tech trade show that has become an important place for the automotive industry to make announcements about autonomous and electric vehicles, had a busy in-person schedule—until a few weeks ago. Today, the balance has shifted to a more blended in-person/virtual affair, with some companies pulling out of an in-person CES appearance altogether. Over the holidays, CES organizers also decided to shorten the event by a day, as “an additional safety measure to the current health protocols that have been put in place for CES” but the in-person portions of the show were not canceled altogether as they were in 2021.

GM Goes VirtualNon-automotive companies including Twitter, T-Mobile, and Amazon all decided against keeping their in-person appearances on the schedule recently. One of the biggest automotive names to join them was General Motors, which means CEO Mary Barra’s keynote address and press event revealing an important new electric vehicle will now be done online.

“We have decided to move to an all-digital approach with our activation at CES 2022 in January,” a GM spokesperson told Car and Driver. “CES is an important technology platform, and we are continuing with our plans on January 5 to share our significant company news including the reveal of the Chevrolet Silverado EV.” GM’s new tech startup BrightDrop will still send some people to Las Vegas, and it plans to offer executive interviews and to invite people to its booth to see the EV600 electric commercial vehicle and the EP1 electric pallet in person. BrightDrop will also make an announcement Tuesday, via a virtual press call.

BMW, Mercedes Also Going LivestreamBMW canceled its in-person CES appearances this year, announcing that due to the pandemic all of the automaker’s planned media activities for CES will be shifted to a fully digital program livestreamed from Germany this year. Mercedes Benz has made a similar decision, telling CNET that “the health and safety of our customers, partners, employees, and guests are our highest priority. In view of the current situation in connection with the COVID-19 virus, we’ve therefore decided to cancel Mercedes-Benz AG’s participation in CES 2022, after intensive consultations.” The company still plans a digital unveiling of the Vision EQXX on Monday, January 3, at noon ET.

Fisker to Appear with 4D Radar; Other Suppliers Go VirtualFisker will still have a small onsite presence, with CEO Henrik Fisker conducting both virtual and in-person interviews as his company promotes the advanced ADAS system in the upcoming Fisker Ocean, the company’s first all-electric SUV. The Ocean will use what the company said is the first 4D radar system that will ever be offered in a passenger/consumer vehicle, although Aptiv uses a 4D radar system in its test vehicles.Plenty of suppliers and other automotive companies have canceled their in-person CES appearance this year as well. The ZF Group will present its Next Generation Mobility Now news virtually, and Valeo has decided to adjust its participation at CES to a “reduced on-site presence,” with executives now offering interviews about the company’s autonomous driving and ADAS advancements announcements from Paris. Electric vehicle charging station company Blink Charging is launching seven new products in-person at CES and is augmenting the show event with an online one. Waymo also made what it called a “difficult decision” not to participate in CES 2022 on the ground but will still offer updates to its self-driving technology and gender equality in the industry during CES panel sessions. The information in this article was accurate as of Sunday morning. With the holiday and the rapidly changing COVID reality on the ground, things may have changed by the time you read this.

2022 KTM 390 ADV Modified With Rally Tower – Render In 2 Colours

2022 KTM 390 ADV Modified With Rally TowerNew rally kit for 390 Adventure developed by Turtletechx can significantly boost off-roading capabilities
Austrian bikemaker KTM recently unveiled its updated ADV range including 390 Adventure. The bike gets cosmetic improvements as well as functional updates that make it a better off-roader. For enhanced rally-oriented ride dynamics, aftermarket firm Turtletechx is developing a unique Rally Tower for KTM Adventure. The kit is being developed with collaboration with various other entities.
KTM 390 ADV rally kit details
Rally kit for 390 Adventure ensures a Dakar-styled transformation for the bike. Front section has undergone significant changes with increased height and addition of a large transparent windscreen. Headlamp bezel has also been customized. Based on the spyshots, digital automotive artist Pratyush Rout has created a render of the same in two colour options.
Handlebar and instrument console are mounted higher, which should ensure improved ergonomics when riding the bike across extreme terrain. For engine protection, a bash plate is expected to be added in production model. It is likely that the kit will also include more robust suspension and braking system.
Rally kit 390 Adv can be seen with dual-purpose block pattern tyres. It is possible that option will be provided to choose knobby units for an enhanced rally experience. Exhaust has been changed too, which looks similar to the one used with Husqvarna Svartpilen 250.
2022 KTM 390 ADV Modified With Rally Tower
Overall silhouette of this 390 ADV rally kit looks familiar to KTM 450 Rally, a bike that the company utilizes exclusively for Dakar Rally. It has been quite successful, registering nine continuous wins at Dakar from 2011 to 2019. KTM bikes are among the most successful bikes at Dakar. The rally kit may not have similar capabilities, but it is likely to perform better in an off-road environment.
In terms of more improvements that can be introduced, the rally kit will work out much better with standard spoke wheels. As compared to alloys, spoke wheels are considered much better for off-roading. Dakar winners like KTM 450 Rally and Honda CRF 450 Rally are all equipped with spoke wheels.
KTM 390 Adv rally kit engine
