Bajaj Pulsar 400 Sales AnaysisRoyal Enfield has expanded its Sherpa 450 lineup with Guerrilla 450 to rival the 400cc offerings from Bajaj and its partnersEver since it was launched, Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z has had a lot of sales potential. Bajaj is known to pull aggressive price points and Pulsar NS400Z is no different. Launched at an attractive price point of Rs 1.85 lakh (Ex-sh) Pulsar NS400Z has surpassed the sales of other Bajaj-alliance 400cc motorcycles. Let’s break down the numbers.Pulsar 400 Bags Excellent SalesThe combination of high performance and low price is a rather powerful one. For price-conscious Indian buyers, the higher price for marginal to no real benefits of rival single-cylinder high-performance motorcycles looks obsolete. Hence, Pulsar NS400Z emerges as the value champion.Same analogy is seen in the sales charts. Pulsar NS400Z has out-performed other 400cc motorcycles from Bajaj’s own alliances with Triumph, KTM and Husqvarna. In June 2024, Bajaj Pulsar 400Z sold 2,515 units and secured top position among the likes of Triumph Speed 400, KTM 390 lineup, Bajaj Dominar 400 and Husqvarna Svartpilen 400.With 2,515 units sold, Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z secured a 43.28% market share among this list. Bajaj launched Pulsar NS400Z in May 2023 and it only sold 32 units in that month. For June 2024, MoM growth comes out to be 7,759.38% with volume growth of 2,483 units MoM.Bajaj Pulsar 400 Sales Anaysis – YoYIn 2nd place, we have Triumph 400 lineup including Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X. Together, they sold 2,135 units and carved out a 36.74% market share among this list. When compared to 2,117 units sold in May 2024, Triumph 400 registered a 0.85% MoM growth with 18 units gained in volume.KTM’s highly popular 390 lineup took 3rd place in this list with a 12.01% market share. The 698 KTM 390 units sold in June 2024 ensured that the sales numbers halved YoY at a 50.32% YoY decline, losing 707 units in volume. When compared to the 655 units sold a month before, KTM 390 gained 43 units in volume registering a MoM growth of 6.56%.Husqvarna sold 88 Svartpilen 401sBajaj’s Dominar 400 is probably the oldest in the bunch and it still manages to carve out a decent sales proposition. At 375 units, sales have dropped considerably with a 40.19% YoY decline losing 252 units in volume. There was no luck for Dominar 400 in MoM analysis too as numbers dropped from 477 to 375, a 21.38% MoM decline.Bajaj Pulsar 400 Sales Anaysis – MoMEven though it has a unique design character of its own and shares the platform with the new 390 Duke, Husqvarna Svartpilen emerges as the slowest-selling product in this list. With 88 units sold as opposed to 142 units sold in May 2024, Husqvarna 401 saw a 38.03% MoM decline with 54 units lost in volume. In total, Bajaj sold 5,811 400cc bikes through its own brand and partner brands like Triumph, KTM and Husqvarna. This segment is doing extremely well with numbers almost quadrupling YoY at 185.97% growth and a 69.76% MoM growth. This development aligns with Ola’s ambitious plans to revolutionize the electric mobility sector, building on the success of their electric scooters.Ola Electric Bike Battery TeasedAs Ola continues to push boundaries in electric vehicle technology, this teaser has sparked speculation and anticipation among enthusiasts and industry watchers alike. The forthcoming electric motorcycle is expected to feature cutting-edge technology and impressive performance, further solidifying Ola’s position as a key player in the EV market.Ola unveiled 4 new electric motorcycles as concept. There’s a roadster, an ADV, a cruiser and a radical-looking bike that Ola is calling the Diamondhead. Ola has stated that these new electric motorcycles will be ready for launch by end-2024. Ahead of that, Ola has now teased the battery of their electric motorcycle.Radical Diamond HeadOla Diamondhead electric bike featuresAs compared to conventional ICE motorcycles, electric bikes provide a lot more freedom to experiment in terms of their design and styling. Ola Diamondhead is a relevant example. The bike is a big surprise in both form and function. Most peculiar is the dome-shaped structure at front. It can also be imagined as an armoured vehicle with capabilities to deflect bullets. The lower section of the bike mirrors the top domed shape, albeit in an inverse and smaller proportion.Diamond Head trademark objectedOla Diamondhead has a full-width LED strip that also houses the headlamp. Riding stance is fairly committed, as evident with the low-set clip-on handlebars. Foot pegs have an adjustability option to choose between a track-oriented or comfortable riding posture. The bike has a futuristic retracting instrument cluster. It is revealed when the bike is switched on.In terms of functional innovation, the bike can be seen with a giant swingarm at front. It suggests that the bike will likely have a hub-centred steering system. This is in contrast to the usual conventional fork setup. While this setup is not entirely new, only a few such bikes have entered production in the past. Ola Diamondhead has a belt drive system and comes with dual disc brakes at the front. Ola Diamondhead is likely to be positioned as a performance-oriented product.New Ola Electric MotorcycleOla roadster, ADV, cruiser electric bikesAs compared to Diamondhead, the other three Ola electric motorcycles are relatively more conventional in their design and styling. The ADV bike has a sharp beak, golden USD forks, large windscreen, hand guards, knobby dual-purpose tyres and luggage racks at sides and rear.Ola electric cruiser bike has an aerodynamic panelling all across. It has a sleek headlamp, rectangular rear-view mirrors with integrated turn signals, thick fork seal covers, a rider-only seat and short tail section. The roadster appears as the most practical among the four new Ola electric motorcycles. It has a sharp headlamp, sleek turn signals, pulled-back handlebar and split-seat design.Ola is yet to reveal any of the specs of these e-bikes. Ola has focused on range, performance and hi-tech features with its electric scooters. Something similar can be expected from its upcoming electric motorcycles. More

Tata Curvv EV Battery Details Leak – 2 Variants, 600 KM Range Possible?

Tata Curvv EV – MotorbeamCurvv EV is underpinned by the acti.ev platform that can deliver multiple range options from 300 km to 600 kmTata Motors is all set to enter the compact SUV segment with the Curvv SUV. Curvv will be available in both ICE and EV formats. Launch and price reveal are scheduled for August 7, 2024. Ahead of that, details about Curvv EV battery pack options have been leaked.Tata Curvv EV battery detailsSimilar to other Tata electric cars, Curvv EV will have standard and long-range variants. The standard variant will be getting a 40.5 kWh battery pack. This is the same as currently in use with Nexon Long Range variant. As certified by ARAI, the 40.5 kWh battery pack offers a range of 465 km.Tata Curvv EVCurvv EV higher variants will be equipped with a larger 55 kWh battery pack. A range of around 550 km is possible, although the acti.ev platform underpinning the Curvv EV has capability to deliver a range of up to 600 km. For the benefit of customers, Tata Motors will be keen to achieve best-in-segment range for Curvv EV. All variants of Curvv EV will utilize a front-axle mounted electric motor. More details could be revealed in the coming days.Curvv EV rivals – Battery and rangeAt the time of launch, Curvv EV will compete with the MG ZS EV. The latter is equipped with a 50.3 kWh battery pack that offers a range of 461 km. Assuming that Curvv EV top variants will have a range of around 550 km, the SUV will already have better numbers to show. In the future, new rivals will emerge such as Hyundai Creta EV and Maruti eVX. Toyota will also be launching its own version of the Maruti eVX.Tata Curvv PerformanceCreta EV is expected to get a 45-50 kWh battery pack. It will have a range of around 450 km. Maruti eVX is expected to be equipped with a 60-kWh battery pack. Range is likely to be around 550 km. If one considers only the battery capacity and range, then the Maruti eVX seems like a more capable rival to the Curvv EV.However, range may not actually be that important in the future. It’s because the charging infrastructure is consistently improving. Moreover, the new generation of battery packs are being designed to support ultra-fast charging. These allow users to quickly load 100+ km in just a few minutes.Charging network expansionTata Motors currently has the largest portfolio of electric cars in the mainstream PV segment. It includes Tigor EV, Tiago EV, Punch EV and Nexon EV. Upcoming products include Harrier EV and Avinya EV. Market share is more than 63%, as of June 2024.To ensure its EV customers are not troubled by range anxiety, Tata Motors is working proactively to expand its charging network. There are plans to introduce around 1 lakh charging stations by 2030. These will cater to Tata Motors’ ever-growing community of EV users. More

Mahindra BE.05 Base Variant, Production-spec Lighting, Alloy Wheels, Roof Carrier Spied

Mahindra BE.05 New DetailsWhen compared to the flamboyant front fascia of top variants, Mahindra BE.05 base variant gets a unique and simpler fasciaWith electric onslaught ambitions, Mahindra has curated a separate environment for its upcoming global EVs. These SUVs are based on INGLO born electric platform. The smallest and most popular and affordable vehicle from this platform will be BE.05. New spy shots reveal more details about this very vehicle. Let’s take a look.Mahindra BE.05 Base VariantBefore getting on with the new attributes spotted with top-spec Mahindra BE.05, we have to talk about the recently spied base model and everything there is to know about it. After all, it is the most affordable variant of the most affordable INGLO platform based on Mahindra’s global electric vehicles.Mahindra BE.05 Base VariantFor starters, production-spec lighting elements for Mahindra BE.05’s base variant seem to be finalised. Seeing it in new spy shots from automotive enthusiast Subhas Das, we were in for a surprise. We say this because the base variant of BE.05 gets a unique fascia when compared to the production-spec top-spec variant’s fascia.Base variant misses out on the massive C-shaped LED DRLs and instead gets simplified horizontal LED DRLs. Below these DRLs are unique-to-base-model projector headlights in a large circular housing. Other notable elements include two vertical trims in the front that lend a unique look. Reminds me of a Jaguar I-Pace.Mahindra BE.05 Base VariantBase variant also gets steel wheels in a black shade. Addressing the elephant in the room, Mahindra BE.05 test mule had a massive roof carrier that looked absolutely wild. In a good way, of course. This roof carrier is likely to be for testing purposes only. But it blends with car’s design very well. I even liked the overall muted aesthetics of the base variant more than top variant of BE.05.Mahindra BE.05 Higher Variant : Image – Gobinath RajanNew attributes of top variantSpeaking of the top variant, spy shots from automotive enthusiast Gobinath Rajan show a new production-spec alloy wheel design. This is an aerodynamic wheel design with a five-element slotted pattern on it. We would reckon Mahindra will offer these alloys on top-spec variants while the previously spied alloys will be offered in mid-variants. Or vice versa.Mahindra BE.05 Higher Variant : Image – Gobinath RajanIt is to be noted that higher variants still get those massive C-shaped LED DRLs along with a sleek LED headlight setup just below the top-most DRL element. Mahindra seems to be implementing an air curtain in front bumper, as seen in these new spy shots. It looks like there is an air channel on the bonnet that is deflecting winds from the front over the car’s windscreen.Mahindra BE.05 : Image – Gobinath RajanInterestingly, a fixed glass roof from BE.05 concept has been carried over to the production model. Sunroof fanatics who want to get out of the sunroof (for reasons best known to them), can look at XUV.e8 which was also spied beside the top-spec BE.05 test mules. There is a possibility of Mahindra showcasing BE.05 on August 15th alongside Thar Roxx. More
