Acura Precision EV Concept Teases Design Language for the EV Era

Acura has announced that it will reveal a new concept car during Monterey Car Week and is teasing it with an image ahead of time. Dubbed the Precision EV, the concept is said to embody “the future of Acura design, electrified.” Acura hasn’t provided many details on the concept just yet, but the teaser video reveals that the electric powertrain will be paired with a flashy design. The teaser shows the front end of the concept, which is painted in a vivid shade of blue. The styling is reminiscent of the design language currently seen on the MDX SUV and TLX sedan—striking, pointed headlights with a check-mark-shaped LED element run into a pentagonal grille. Instead of the quilted mesh seen on Acura’s gas-powered models, the concept’s grille appears to have a blanked-off design with a blue, rhombus-shaped pattern. The air intake carved into the bumper also has an assortment of illuminated rectangular styling cues.

This isn’t the first time Acura has revealed a concept bearing the name Precision. The first Precision concept, revealed back in 2016, debuted the current design language found across Acura’s lineup, with sharply angular lines, crystalline lighting elements, and the “Diamond Pentagon” grille. While that concept took the form of a sleek sedan, the Precision EV concept appears to be much larger with a more SUV-like roofline, and seems to continue in the same design themes as the original Precision concept. The Precision EV will be revealed in full on August 18.

Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 Side View Detailed – New Spy Shots

Himalayan 450 will get a larger 450cc engine which will make more power and torque to compete with the 390 AdventureRoyal Enfield Himalayan 450 Side View. Image – Motorcycle NewsRoyal Enfield has been developing the Himalayan 450 for quite some time now. New motorcycle will stay true to the precedent set by its 411cc sibling. It will be marketed as an adventure tourer in India competing with BMW G310GS and KTM 390 Adventure. After the exhaust design was spied a few days back, new spy shots reveal side view. The updates expected on the Himalayan 450 will make it even more capable off-road and even more relaxed on-road. In latest spy shots from the UK by Motorcycle News, we can see that the new motorcycle gets significantly broader seats to accommodate riders of all frames and sizes.Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 – New Spy ShotsIt is also expected to get comfier cushioning to give riders more support and comfort. This will also make sure that riders can ride farther on one stretch before needing to take a break further aiding Himalayan 450’s touring abilities.Rider’s triangle also seems to be better than Himalayan 411. This will aid the rider in daily commutes and as well as highway runs. Pillion seat looks like an upgrade too as it looks broader and better cushioned in comparison to Himalayan 411. The pillion will also appreciate the placement of the rear footpegs and big grab handle beneath them.Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 Spied in the UKHimalayan will get a bigger 450cc single-cylinder petrol engine with an overhead camshaft. It will get oil cooling. It is expected to make more power and more torque than Himalayan 411. This will make it an even worthy opponent to the likes of KTM 390 Adventure and BMW G310GS. The engine might be coupled to a brand new 6-speed transmission instead of the 5-speed unit on Himalayan 411.The motorcycle will get spoked wheels at the front and rear. Wheels are expected to be 21” at front and 17” at the rear like Himalayan 411. Ground clearance on the newer model seems to be higher. This might be due to beefier forks with longer suspension travel. Final production version of Himalayan 450 will be slightly bigger than the outgoing Himalayan 411 and is also expected to weigh a little more due to the bigger engine.Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 FeaturesHimalayan 450 will get tubular frames at front and rear to hold luggage, panniers and jerry cans. It will also get a new vertically mounted instrument cluster which will easily fall in rider’s peripheral vision. Other expected features on the bigger Himalayan include, dual-channel switchable ABS, slip and assist clutch, some kind of riding modes with different throttle maps, GPS navigation on the instrumentation and maybe even ride-by-wire to make the throttle response better. In the video below, we can see the Himalayan 450 on test in India.[embedded content][embedded content]The Himalayan will come with off-road specific features too. Even though Royal Enfield hasn’t made it official, we can expect a robust suspension, capable engine, stiff chassis and durable components. Royal Enfield might even consider more off-road friendly components as an option at least as Hero does with its Xpulse 200 in the form of the Rally Kit. When launched, it will be a worthy competitor to the more road-biased KTM 390 Adventure, BMW G310GS and the upcoming Hero Xpulse 300. More

New Kawasaki Electric Motorcycle Based On Z250 – Hybrid Z650 Spotted

By 2035, Kawasaki plans to have a fully electrified portfolio that will include pure EV and hybrid electric vehiclesNew Kawasaki Electric Motorcycle Based On Z250Providing a glimpse of what the future would look like at Kawasaki, two new bikes, one electric (EV) and one hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) recently raced the tracks at Suzuka Circuit. Widely popular Suzuka 8 Hours endurance racing event was purposefully chosen to ensure maximum reach for Kawasaki’s all-new electrified bikes. In addition to the visual treat, enthusiasts also got to listen to the aural notes of these bikes. EV bike had the typical hum of an electric motor whereas the HEV sounded more like a conventional ICE-based bike.As Kawasaki’s electrification plans have been delayed due to the pandemic, it is likely that things are being expedited in a proactive manner. While official timelines have not been announced, launch in markets like America can happen by the end of this year.Kawasaki electric bike featuresKawasaki’s pure-EV bike appears to borrow styling bits from Z range motorcycles. Some key features include an aggressive front fascia, sinewy fuel tank design, step-up split seats, prominent tail section, standard telescopic front forks and rear swingarm. The bike has a fairly committed riding stance with low-set handlebar and slightly rear-set footpegs.New Kawasaki Electric Motorcycle Based On Z250With close to zero body panelling, Kawasaki’s new all-electric bike should be able to extract more miles from the battery. It is not clear at this point of time if the battery is a fixed or removable unit. It looks completely packed from the sides, although there could be an opening in the fuel tank casing to reach the battery from top. VIN information shows that Kawasaki’s all-electric bike generates 15 PS of max power. It is likely to be slotted between Z125 and Z250.Kawasaki HEV bike featuresIn comparison to the naked EV, Kawasaki HEV bike is a fully-faired model. It appears to have design bits similar to that of the Kawasaki Ninja range. Some key features include sharp dual headlamps, compact windscreen, sharp panels, step-up seat and upswept exhaust. It is evident that the bike has a twin-cylinder motor and exhaust is quite similar to that of Ninja 250. Multiple air intakes can be seen, which will work to cool the motor and battery system.Other key equipment in use are conventional telescopic forks at front and monoshock rear suspension. Braking setup has dual discs at front, which looks impressive and should help manage the additional bulk of the hybrid system.Kawasaki Hybrid Motorcycle Based On Z650Considering India’s growing appetite for electric two-wheelers, Kawasaki should not take too long to launch its electric range here. Sooner the better, as rivals like Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha and KTM are planning their respective electric two-wheelers for India. Kawasaki will also have to work on pricing to be able to play the volume game. More

No Grid? No Problem. Bowlus Volterra EV RV Lets You Live Off-Grid 'Indefinitely'

Luxury RV brand Bowlus announced a new, all-electric addition to its lineup, the Volterra, which claims to be the world’s first production EV RV.With satellite internet, 480W solar panels, a 50-gallon fresh water tank, and a 17 kWh battery system, the Volterra is ready to take you on a lengthy, allegedly indefinite, journey. The Volterra, which sleeps four and is just over 27 feet long, starts at a whopping $310,000, making it Bowlus’s most expensive RV by a large margin. When the apocalypse comes, why shouldn’t you hunker down in the height of American-engineered, minimalist luxury? After a long day of fighting zombies and maniacal Guzzoline-obsessed warlords, you deserve to enjoy satellite internet from a memory foam king bed cloaked in sustainable linen after padding around on heated floors. Really, it’s the bare minimum you should ask for when society crumbles and you have to haul your travel trailer into the depths of the wilderness, never to return to the comforts of Suburbia again.

    Bowlus

That’s why luxury RV company Bowlus designed their newest model: The Volterra. Bowlus claims the Volterra is the first production all-electric RV in the world, and with its solar panel–battery setup, Bowlus CEO Geneva Long says the Volterra lets you “live off-grid indefinitely.”

Now, that’s a bold claim, and it comes courtesy of two built-in 240W solar panels and two optional 240W solar panels, totaling 480W of AeroSolar power, along with an MPPT solar controller (the most efficient type of controller). This directly charges a 17-kWh battery, the largest in the Bowlus family. Using some quick math and a handful of assumptions, that means that the solar panels would take around 46 peak-sun hours to charge the battery from 0% to 100%.

    Bowlus

While this doesn’t account for passive charging while in use, nighttime, or pesky acid rain clouds blowing in, it does give the sense that to live off-grid indefinitely, you would need to limit your power consumption—especially the A/C—which Bowlus concedes. A small price to pay for microwave privileges as the world ends. So maybe the Volterra isn’t quite up for the trials and tribulations of an apocalypse. I mean, who among us? However, the Volterra does offer the opportunity for the luxe off-grid living of many people’s vanlife fantasies and, at its core, a compelling zero-emissions adventure.

    Bowlus

    Bowlus

Though there is an optional propane backup, the Volterra is meant to be experienced electrically. Not only is the RV itself a contained ecosystem, but it can be recharged by an EV while you drive, and it can give your electric car up to 60 miles of emergency recharge using a 20A outlet.

It also takes advantage of Starlink, Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s satellite internet venture, to give owners 250 mbps of remote download speeds anywhere in the U.S. or Canada, with an LTE SIM card available as a backup. Meanwhile, the Volterra’s kitchen features an induction cooktop, an electric stove that, in addition to being safer than normal stovetops, also creates significantly less ambient heat, reducing your need to crank the A/C in a tight space.

    Bowlus

    Bowlus

Other features of the Volterra include a backup camera, over-air software updates, built-in pet features, and increased water capacity, amounting to 50 gallons of fresh water and 31 gallons of grey water. Otherwise, the rest of the Volterra is pure Bowlus. The aluminum monocoque body is nearly indistinguishable from the brand’s Endless Highways and Terra Firma models, and the interior follows the same floorplan, including a convertible king bed, a large bathroom, a galley, and generous seating. The Volterra, though, comes with a new, lush finish dubbed La Cumbre, which brings linen duvets (plus throw pillows, drapes, you name it), vegan upholstery, and a California sunset-inspired color palette to the table.

    Bowlus

So how much will a pampered trip into the great outdoors cost you? Well, the Volterra starts at $310,000, making it the most expensive Bowlus by $25,000, and putting it on the pricer end of travel trailers as a whole. However, it represents the ways that RVing can be improved by EV technology and shows some of the innovations making off-grid life more comfortable, fun, and sustainable. While it will hopefully be a long time before we all retreat into the wilderness to escape evil robot overlords, in the meantime, as Bowlus’s CEO says, the Volterra is a great way to “preserve the great outdoors while you enjoy its splendor.”

Lamborghini Urus Breaks SUV Record at Pikes Peak

The Lamborghini Urus has set the production-SUV record at Pikes Peak with a 10:32.064 time. That beats the previous record of 10:49.902 set by a 2018 Bentley Bentayga. The record-breaking Urus, disguised in camouflage, is a new model that Lamborghini will reveal on August 19.When it comes to production SUVs racing up Pikes Peak, there’s a new king of the mountain. It’s the supercar-bred Lamborghini Urus that recently posted a 10:32.064 time. That’s almost 18 seconds quicker than the 2018 Bentley Bentayga that previously held the production-SUV record with a time of 10:49.902. While the Lambo didn’t compete in the official event that was held at the end of June, its time was recorded by Pikes Peak’s official timekeepers.

As seen in the photos, the record-breaking Urus was wrapped in orange camouflage with the phrase “Keep Raising the Bar” on its flanks. It’s Lamborghini’s thinly veiled attempt to disguise the fact that it wasn’t just any old 641-hp Urus that broke the record. Rather, it’s a new model that will be revealed on August 19. Although major details about the upcoming Urus remain under wraps until then, Lamborghini does reveal a few things about the machine that conquered the storied hill-climb course.

    Lamborghini

Apart from the required safety equipment, which primarily includes a roll cage and a racing seat with a six-point harness, the Urus is essentially what folks will get with the production version. That includes the standard twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 as well as Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tires, size 285/40R-22 front and 325/235R-22 rear. Lamborghini says it was involved in the development of that specific rubber, which is said to be the first time Pirelli has offered semi-slick tires designed for an SUV.

    Lamborghini

The man responsible for the setting the Pikes Peak record in the Lambo is driver Simone Faggioli. Along with being a Pirelli test driver, he’s also a hill-climb champion who still holds the rear-wheel-drive record that he set during the 2018 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.

Bentley's Coachbuilt Mulliner Batur to Be Revealed before Pebble Beach Concours

Bentley’s next bespoke show car, the Mulliner Batur, is set to debut at 2022’s Monterey Car Week in California later this month. The Batur follows 2020’s Bacalar Speedster, which was offered in a very limited production run of 12 cars. This time around, though, Bentley says the Batur’s styling is a hint at the brand’s design direction for future EV models.Ultra-luxury automaker Bentley will debut its latest coachbuilt creation, the Mulliner Batur, at this year’s Monterey Car Week event in Monterey, California. The Mulliner Batur is a follow-up to the gorgeous Bacalar Speedster, a limited-edition model based on the Continental GT convertible. We can see only a few details from the teaser image above, including red grille details and a more pronounced spear dividing the right and left sides of the car’s grille. It’s hard to say if the Batur will be based on an existing Bentley model or whether it will be rendered as a sedan, a coupe, or an SUV.

Handcrafted styling and a ritzy interior aren’t all that the Batur will share with the Bacalar: both are named for bodies of water located in far-flung locales. Lake Batur is an 88-meter deep crater lake located in the Kintamani district of Bali, Indonesia, while Laguna Bacalar is a pristine lake in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo, located in the Yucatán Peninsula.Unlike the Bacalar, of which only 12 will be made, the Mulliner Batur can be interpreted as a preview of Bentley’s future styling as it moves into its EV era. As such, we expect the show car to be powered by an electric powertrain, probably with two motors and all-wheel drive. We’ll know more on August 20, when Bentley rolls out the Mulliner Batur to a crowd of onlookers one day ahead of the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. If the Mulliner Batur is offered as a limited-production model, expect a price at least equal to the Bacalar’s $1.9 million. And if you want one, act fast, because they’re likely to sell out quickly.

2023 Honda Pilot TrailSport, First Glimpse of Next-Gen SUV, Teased in Mountain Shot

Honda has just released a faraway photo of the 2023 Pilot TrailSport shown clustered among large boulders, marking the first news we’re getting of the next-gen Pilot. We don’t have any clear details yet, but we expect the TrailSport to start around $47,000 and to get a full reveal later this fall.Sales are expected to start in early 2023.Honda provided the first teaser image of the 2023 Pilot TrailSport this morning (above) with a faraway shot of the three-row SUV clustered among a backdrop of boulders. The release and photo were light on specifics but we expect a full reveal later this fall, with the car going on sale early next year. We expect the base Pilot to start around $40,000 with the TrailSport coming in closer to the $47,000 mark, though official pricing figures have not been released yet. No interior photos were offered, though it is likely the new Pilot will feature the same design cues offered in other new Hondas.

We’re fully in speculation territory here, with no official details announced, but we hope the new TrailSport comes with added performance rather than as a styling package. The Pilot is already available with all-wheel drive and an elevated seating position. We think giving it a few inches of lift, while adding skid plates for protection, will likely add to the price over the 2022 version, but added performance could be worth it. The 2022 model produces 280 horsepower from its V-6, and the new version could get a detuned version of the turbo V-6 currently available in the MDX, but we may just be getting our hopes up.

2023 Bajaj Triumph Motorcycle New Spy Shots – Royal Enfield Rival

Bajaj has been trying to target the middleweight segment for quite some time now, but is yet to make any significant gains2023 Bajaj Triumph Motorcycle – New Spy Shots by MCNWhile Bajaj had launched Dominar with great expectations, it didn’t create any major challenges for segment-leader Royal Enfield. The Chennai-based manufacturer continues to command a market share of more than 85% in the 350cc-500cc single cylinder motorcycle segment. The market share is likely to increase further, with the launch of new Royal Enfield Hunter 350. However, Bajaj seems far from giving up and will be making another attempt soon. It will come via the company’s collaboration with UK-based Triumph Motorcycles.Bajaj-Triumph motorcycle spiedAs evident in the images, the new Bajaj-Triumph bike looks production ready. It seems to derive design inspiration from Triumph Bonneville range of motorcycles. Retro theme is evident with features such as round headlamps and rear-view mirrors.Other key highlights include a compact design, sculpted fuel tank, single-piece seat, all-skeletal design, upswept exhaust and alloy wheels. Suspension system comprises USD forks at front and a monoshock unit at rear with pre-load adjustability. In comparison, Bonneville bikes such as Street Scrambler, Street Twin and Speed Twin are equipped with dual rear shock absorbers. Use of a monoshock unit at rear makes the bike better suited for tackling off-road terrains.2023 Bajaj Triumph Motorcycle – New Spy ShotsOff-roading capabilities are further enhanced with features such as dual-purpose Metzeler tyres. The bike has 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels. It also gets a rugged bash plate. Braking duties are performed by disc brakes at both ends. There’s a dedicated luggage rack at the rear and on the left side as well. Tank mounted bags could also be made available as an accessory.Other details include a rectangular digital instrument console, which looks similar to the one used on KTM bikes. This may not necessarily be the unit that will be used for the production variant. As the bike has a retro profile, a rounded instrument console will be a better match. Two versions are expected to be on offer, one a classic retro and the other adventure scrambler. The latter gets knobby tyres, scrambler style exhaust, knuckle guards, raised front fender, etc.Bajaj-Triumph motorcycle engineBased on the structure and size of the engine, it appears to be a 350cc to 500cc unit. Single exhaust vent indicates that the engine will be a single-cylinder unit. The engine utilizes liquid cooling and comes with vertically mounted radiator.2023 Bajaj Triumph Motorcycle – New Spy ShotsBajaj-Triumph motorcycle will be sold globally. It will allow Triumph to play the volumes game on a larger scale. As the bike will be manufactured in India, there will be significant reduction in production cost. Bajaj-Triumph motorcycle is expected to be launched at a competitive price point, somewhere around Rs 2 lakh. This is necessary since rivals like Royal Enfield motorcycles are among the most affordable in the country.Launch was earlier planned for 2022, but things have been delayed due to the pandemic. Bajaj-Triumph motorcycle could be unveiled around Diwali this year and launched in early 2023. Although Royal Enfield’s dominance seems unshakable, the company will still be following these developments closely.Source More
