    Ever since Royal Enfield has launched Guerrilla 450 in India, it has received an excellent reception among the motorcycling community. Once known for pretty-looking retro motorcycles with outdated technology, Royal Enfield has turned the tides around and has developed the Sherpa 450 platform.
    The first vehicle based on this platform was Himalayan 450 and Guerrilla 450 was launched more recently. The popularity of Guerrilla 450 is such that it has surpassed Himalayan 450 sales in just a couple of months since it first went on sale. Let’s take a look at the finer statistics of this development.
    Guerrilla 450 Beats Himalayan 450 In Sales
    There are a multitude of reasons why Guerrilla 450 might have surpassed Himalayan 450 in sales. Before diving into that, we need to glance over the sales and statistics of these motorcycles. In July 2024, Royal Enfield sold a total of 60,755 units. Out of these, Himalayan 450 sold 2,769 units and Guerrilla 450 sold 1,469 units.
    In July 2024, Himalayan 450 was still in the lead by 1,300 units. However, that doesn’t paint the full picture. It gets interesting when we bring sales analysis data into the picture. In July 2024, Himalayan had registered a 12.68% YoY decline as opposed to 3,171 units sold in July 2023. Losing 402 units in volume YoY.
    Guerrilla 450
    Not just that, there was a 9.57% MoM decline as well, with over 3,062 units sold in June 2024, losing 293 units in volume. Guerrilla 450 on the other hand was taking off, where sales are concerned. If we look at August 2024 sales, Himalayan 450 sold 2,009 units, while Guerrilla 450 climbed up the ladder with 2,205 units.
    However, more interesting stats come from Himalayan’s sales analysis in August 2024. Sales of this popular ADV almost halved YoY when compared to 3,856 units sold in August 2023 with a 47.90% YoY drop and 1,847 units lost in volume. Even MoM, Himalayan 450 registered a 27.45% drop in sales, losing 760 units in volume.
    Guerrilla 450, on the other hand, registered a 50.10% MoM growth, with 736 units gained in volume. This might be an indication that Indian motorcycling enthusiasts are preferring Guerrilla 450 over Himalayan 450.

    Why though?
    There are many reasons why motorcycling enthusiasts might be considering a Guerrilla 450 over a Himalayan 450. Primary reason might be the price, as Guerrilla 450 undercuts Himalayan 450 by Rs 46,000 (Ex-sh). Styling and positioning might be a reason too. Owing to its Roadster genre, Guerrilla 450 comes out as a daily machine, while Himalayan looks too focused on touring and off-roading.
    Sticking with daily machine theory, Guerrilla 450 is 11 kg lighter than Himalayan 450. While that is not a lot of weight-saving, it makes a difference in the long run. The Roadster’s seat height is a more accessible 780 mm, while Himalayan’s goes till 845 mm. Guerrilla is smaller in size with fatter tyres, lending user-friendly dynamics.

    Honda India Recall – CB300R, CB300F, CB350, CB350RS and H’ness 350

    New Honda CB 350 – Prithiraj ChowdhuryOwners of affected motorcycles are being contacted individually to inform them about the recall and next steps in the process
    As part of its commitment to improve customer experience, Honda has issued a voluntary recall for select 300cc and 350cc bikes. While owners of affected bikes will be contacted via call, email and SMS, users can also check by entering their VIN number on the Honda BigWing website.
    Front and Rear wheel speed sensor
    This issue affects Honda CB300R, CB300F, CB350, CB350RS and H’ness 350. Following an investigation, it has been found that an improper molding procedure was used during the manufacturing of the speed wheel sensor. The issue is seen with motorcycles manufactured during the period from October 2020 to April 2024. However, Honda has not provided any details about the total number of bikes that have this issue.

    Due to the improper molding process, it is possible that the speed wheel sensor could be exposed to water. When this happens, the speed sensor may start to malfunction. It can impact multiple systems such as traction control, speedometer and ABS. Honda has also clearly mentioned a worst-case scenario, where the malfunctioning speed sensor can lead to ineffective braking. As both front and rear wheel speed sensors are impacted, it poses significant risks in extreme cases.
    While Honda has not asked customers to stop using the impacted units, it is advisable that owners take proper care. Owners can wait to get a message from Honda or check on Honda BigWing website using their VIN number. Honda has requested owners of affected units to book their service appointment in advance. This will help avoid overcrowding at dealerships.

    The affected part will be replaced completely free of cost, irrespective of the warranty status of the bike. This recall will be carried out pan-India at BigWing dealerships. However, Honda has not mentioned any estimated time for the replacement of the affected part.
    Camshaft Comp
    This issue impacts specific units of CB350, CB350RS and H’ness CB350. An investigation has revealed that an improper manufacturing process was used for the manufacturing of the camshaft. It can lead to a situation where the vehicle’s optimal functioning could be impacted. Honda has stated that this recall is being carried out as a precautionary measure. This recall applies to units manufactured between June 2024 and July 2024.
    Honda dealerships across India will replace the affected part completely free of cost. This recall is applicable even for bikes that are out of their warranty period. Owners of the affected units are being contacted by Honda via call, SMS and/or email.
    Honda had issued a recall for CB350 and CB350RS last year in December as well. At that time, issues were noticed with the brake light and bank angle sensor. Replacement was provided free of cost to all affected customers. More

    Now that GM and Hyundai have signed a non-binding agreement to begin cooperating at several levels, the question is what they’ll do together.While no concrete plans have yet begun, everything from raw materials to software is on the table.Sharing resources on EV development makes sense, but this tie-up could also share costs on developing emissions-compliant combustion engines for the global market.Two of the largest automobile manufacturers in the world, Hyundai and General Motors, have now signed an agreement to begin working together on raw materials sourcing, supply chain management, and even vehicle design. The announcement obviously highlights the possibilities for developments in clean energy, EVs, and hydrogen power, but also extends to future developments in combustion engine technology.It’s early days yet, as the memorandum of understanding is non-binding; the agreement is more a first handshake between companies deciding to start working together.     With electric scooter segment witnessing massive growth, many OEMs have been shifting their focus to electric motorcycles, especially in the commuter segment for the most penetration. Revolt is catering to this segment with the launch of their new RV1 commuter electric motorcycle for an attractive starting price of Rs 85K. Let us take a look.
    Revolt RV1 Electric Motorcycle Launched
    One of the oldest electric motorcycle manufacturers in India, Revolt Motors, has just launched their most affordable offering yet. Called RV1, it bears a new-retro design theme with lower-tier equipment than the company’s RV400, which has been on sale for a couple of years now. Along with launching the RV1, Revolt Motors has also updated its flagship RV400 with an extended 160 km range and a new Lunar Green colour.

    While the base RV1 costs Rs 84,999 (Ex-sh), the higher-spec RV1+ costs Rs 99,999 (Ex-sh). The RV1 range promises up to three times lower running costs when compared to ICE motorcycles of a similar category. These sit below the company’s RV400 BRZ and RV400 electric motorcycles.
    Revolt Motors RV1 comes with a 2.2 kWh battery pack promising 100 km of range from a single charge, while RV1+ promises 160 km range from its larger 3.24 kWh battery. When compared to the RV400, RV1 and RV1+ bear cheaper components to achieve their pricing. For starters, RV1 range gets the inferior chain drive system, when opposed to fancier belt-drive on RV400.

    Other cut-downs include RSU telescopic front forks and twin shock absorbers at the rear, handling suspension duty. This setup ensures 250 kg of load-bearing capacity, which is impressive. There are disc brakes at both ends and 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped with 90-section tyre at the front and 110-section at the rear.
    The electric motor develops 2.8 kW of peak power (3.75 bhp). Ground clearance is 180 mm and kerb weight is 108 kg. Notable features include a 6-inch instrument cluster, LED headlight, LED tail light, LED DRL and LED turn indicators. There is a reverse mode, a long seat, Bluetooth connectivity and a dedicated storage for charger for convenience.

    The rumours suggesting Triumph-Bajaj duo will launch two new Triumph motorcycles in India turned out to be true and we get the new Speed T4 and MY 25 Speed 400. Speculations suggested the launch of Triumph’s upcoming Thruxton 400, but that seems to be way in the future.
    Triumph Speed T4
    Starting with Triumph Speed T4, this is now the new base model in the company’s 400cc lineup. Starting from Rs 2.17 lakh (Ex-sh), it is the entry-point into Triumph’s ecosystem. While MY25 Speed 400 looks like an update to current Speed 400, Speed T4 sounds like an all-new motorcycle.
    Triumph is carving out a new base variant by reducing the performance for a relaxed character. This looks like it is a direct dig at Royal Enfield Classic 350 as it is renowned for its relaxed riding character. Performance metrics include 31 PS of peak power at 7,000 RPM and 36 Nm of peak torque at 5,000 RPM from the same 398cc TR series engine as Speed 400.

    Mid-range has been vastly improved with 30% increase in inertia and there is a manual throttle body as well. Elements like slipper clutch, 43mm RSU telescopic front forks, dual-channel ABS, USB port are notable. Triumph Speed T4 gets three colours – Pearl Metallic White, Cocktail Wine Red & Phantom Black.
    Triumph MY25 Speed 400 is an update to current model and retains its edgy performance characteristics. The main highlights of MY25 update include higher-profile tyres and enhanced seating comfort. There are adjustable levers too, for rider convenience.     Engine Specs
    Engine specs remain unchanged on the Yamaha MotoGP Edition of R15M and MT-15 Version 2.0. They draw their power via 155cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected, liquid-cooled engines offering 18.1 hp power and 14.2 Nm torque. Engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox and dual-channel ABS is offered as standard.
    Earlier this month, Yamaha also introduced the 2024 Yamaha R15M Carbon Fiber Pattern Graphic. It is priced at Rs 2.08 lakh (ex-sh) and comes with several feature updates. These include carbon fibre pattern graphics, turn-by-turn navigation, music and volume control and an LED license plate. These features are offered both on the new Carbon Fibre Pattern variant and the Metallic Grey model.

    One of the popular 350cc bikes, Royal Enfield Bullet 350 has received a new colour option of Battalion Black. With this addition, users can now choose from a total of five black shades. The other shades in the palette are Standard Black, Standard Maroon, Black Gold, Military Black, Military Red, and Military SilverRed and Military SilverBlack.
    Bullet 350 Battalion Black – What’s new?
    Among the black shades available for Bullet 350, the most affordable is the Military Black. In terms of purely the colour code, there doesn’t seem to be any difference between the Military Black and the new Battalion Black. However, the latter gets some updates, focused primarily on improving the bike’s retro aesthetics.
    One can notice the change in the seat design, something that was seen with the earlier generations of Bullet motorcycles. Bullet 350 Battalion Black has a lower seat height and improved lumbar support for the rider. This retro seat design was originally seen with the 500cc Bullet launched in 1989.
    From the rider’s perspective, this seat design can be more comfortable for longer journeys. It appears that Royal Enfield is targeting users who may like the retro feel of old Bullet models. This seat design was also seen with 350 Bullet Machismo (1990), Bullet Electra 350 (2002) and Bullet 500 (2013).
    Bullet 350 Battalion Black
    New Bullet 350 launched last year has a relatively modern seat design. It can be comfier, but the retro feel seems to be missing. Another update with the new Bullet 350 Battalion Black model is a polygonal tail lamp. All other colour variants of Bullet 350 have a circular tail lamp. The refreshed tail lamp is another reminder of the bike’s rich history. With the first model produced in 1932, Bullet 350 is the world’s oldest motorcycle in continuous production.
    Improved visuals
    Bullet 350 Battalion Black has chrome accents on the headlamp unit, suspension, turn signals and handlebar. The brake and clutch levers, exhaust pipe, crankcase and wire spoke wheels are in chrome finish. This presents an exciting contrast that is visually appealing. The rear-view mirrors are blacked-out, which is another distinct feature of the Battalion Black model.
    Bullet 350 new black model has 3D badging on the fuel tank and side panels. The bike also gets golden pinstriping on the fuel tank, both on the sides and top section. In terms of performance, there are no changes to the new Battalion Black model. Bullet 350 gets power from a 349cc, single cylinder air-oil cooled engine. It generates 20.2 bhp and 27 Nm and is mated to a 5-speed constant mesh gearbox.

    Bullet 350 Battalion Black has front disc and rear drum brakes, with single channel ABS. Higher variants of Bullet 350 are offered with dual disc brakes and dual-channel ABS. Royal Enfield is also working on a new 650cc Bullet. It is expected to go on sale as the Bullet 650 Twin. Test mules have been spotted frequently in recent months and launch is expected next year. It shares a lot of its components and features with TVS Apache RTR 310 and is the most expensive TVS motorcycle one can buy in India.
    2024 TVS Apache RR 310 Launched – Colours and Price
    As part of a collaboration between BMW Motorrad and TVS Motor, the 310 platform has emerged to be a versatile one underpinning 2 bikes for TVS and 3 for BMW. TVS has priced 2024 Apache RR 310 starting from Rs 2.75 lakh (Ex-sh) for the base variant without a quick-shifter.  The company is offering a quick-shifter for Rs 2.92 lakh (Ex-sh).
    TVS Apache RR 310 – Standard Racing Colour
    While Racing Red is standard, more exclusive Bomber Grey shade will set you back 2.97 lakh (Ex-sh). Buyers aspiring to soak into TVS’ rich racing heritage more, can choose Race Replica colourway for an additional Rs 7,000 along with a personalised race number of your choice.
    Updated Apache RR 310 also falls under the company’s BTO (Built To Order) program. There are two BTO packages for this motorcycle – Dynamic Kit and Dynamic Pro Kit. Equipment offered between these kits vary. Dynamic Kit costs Rs 18,000 and it brings and offers front and rear adjustable suspension, TPMS and brass-coated chain.
    2024 TVS Apache RR 310 Prices
    Dynamic Pro Kit costs Rs 16,000 and offers a comprehensive suite of electronic rider aids bundled as RTDSC (Race Tune Dynamic Stability Control) with a 6D IMU. Notable features are Cornering ABS, Cornering traction control, Cornering Cruise control, Wheelie Control, Slope Dependent Control and Rear Lift-off Control.
    New elements
    On the outside, there are not a lot of changes to 2024 TVS Apache RR 310. That’s not a bad thing at all. The new model brings a transparent clutch cover along with aerodynamic winglets at the front. These winglets are not just for show and TVS claims 3kg of added downforce. Which makes a difference on a race track.
    TVS Apache RR 310 – Bomber Grey
    Other than these changes, this fully faired bike looks identical to preceding model with distinctive styling cues and graphics. It sports a dual projector headlamp, rearview mirrors integrated into its front cowl, large windscreen, low set and pulled back handlebars and rear set foot pegs.
    Split seating, upswept exhaust and an elevated tail segment are also part of its features. It sports an improved 5-inch instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity offering the rider access to calls, message notifications and turn-by-turn navigation. It rides on 17-inch wheels fitted with 110/70 front and 150/60 rear section tyres.
    2024 TVS Apache RR 310 Launched
    Engine, Braking, Riding Modes
    BMW G310 RR shares its engine lineup with the TVS Apache RR310. This 312.2cc, liquid-cooled, reverse inclined motor offers 38 bhp power of peak power at 9,700 RPM and 29 Nm of peak torque at 7,700 RPM, mated to a 6-speed gearbox. For MY24, Apache RR 310 gets a 13% larger air box, larger throttle body, 10% lighter forged piston and an 11% increase in performance.
    It comes with an assist and slipper clutch and 4 riding modes of Sport, Track, Rain and Urban. Braking is via 300mm front disc and 240mm rear disc brakes with dual-channel ABS -Anti-Lock Braking System. Besides competing with BMW G310 RR and KTM RC390, it will also take on rivals such as the Kawasaki Ninja 300, Yamaha R3 and Aprilia RS457. More
