    Yamaha Sales Breakup June 2025 – R15, FZ, MT15, RayZR

    India Yamaha Motor has a robust lineup of models in the premium scooter and motorcycle segments. However, it has been experiencing weak demand in domestic market. Sales have declined both year-on-year (YoY) and month-on-month (MoM), and year-to-date (YTD) sales have also shown a negative trend.

    Yamaha sold 44,417 two-wheelers in India during June 2025. This was a 24.04% YoY decline from 58,471 units sold in June 2024 which was a difference of 14,054 units. MoM sales too dipped by 3.62% from 46,086 units sold in May 2025.
    Yamaha’s top-selling scooter is the Ray ZR, while the best-selling motorcycle is the FZ lineup. Both however, suffered a YoY decline. Yamaha Ray ZR sales fell by 5.99% YoY to 14,274 units. This related to a 910 unit volume de-growth from 15,184 units sold in June 2024. May 2025 sales had stood at 13,023 units which was a 9.61% MoM growth. The Ray ZR currently commands a 32.14% share in the company’s overall portfolio.

    In 2nd place, we have Yamaha FZ which saw a 10.58% YoY decline to 10,767 units. This was a 1,274 unit drop from 12,041 units sold in June 2024. Lower sales were also recorded on a MoM basis by 17.04% from 12,979 units sold in May 2025. MT15 with 7,123 units sold last month suffered a steep 38.68% YoY decline. MoM sales however, ended on a positive note, up by 1.27% from 7,034 unit sales of May 2025.
    Also posting a decline in YoY sales but increased MoM demand was the Yamaha Fascino. This 125cc scooter saw its sales decline by 33.81% to 6,125 units last month while its MoM sales improved by double digits of 16.64% from 5,251 units sold in that month.
    Yamaha has not seen much domestic demand for its R15 supersport bike. Sales dip was the steepest in this list at 50.09% YoY to 4,380 units last month even as sales had stood at a healthy 8,776 units in the same month last year. MoM sales too suffered a de-growth by 26.96% from 5,997 units sold in May 2025.

    Aerox 155 was the only model in the company portfolio to register positive growth YoY which improved by 9.42% to 1,743 units. There had been 1,593 units sold in June 2024 which related to a 150 unit increase in volumes. R3/MT03, the company’s flagship offerings added 5 units to the June 2025 sales tally which was a 16.67% YoY decline.
    Yamaha Q2 Sales – April-June 2025
    The period April-June 2025 saw Yamaha motor sales at 1,37,329 units. This was a 28.40% YTD decline from 1,91,791 unit sales of the same period of 2024. It related to a volume de-growth of 54,462 units.
    Every model on the company sales list suffered from lower sales on a YoY basis in Q2 analysis except for the R3/MT03. RayZR sales were down 15.40% to 41,480 units while FZ sales slipped by 7.34% to 37,228 units. MT15 saw a steep YTD decline of 46.49% to 21,182 units in the 2025 period whereas there had been 39,588 units sold in the same period last year.

    Fascino scooter sales dipped by 37.78% to 17,054 units from 27,408 units while the R15 suffered the steepest YTD decline by 49.65% to 15,285 units sold in the April-June 2025 period from as much as 30,357 unit sales of April-June 2024. The Yamaha Aerox too saw its YTD sales decline by 3.46% to 4,987 units while outstanding demand was reported for Yamaha R3/MT03, sales of which grew by 85.25% to 113 units in the past 3 month period over 61 units sold during same period of last year.     Tesla Confirms New Cheaper Model Y – To Boost Sales, Revenue

    Tesla is grappling with challenges on multiple fronts, from weakening demand and significant policy shifts to intensifying competition. This has prompted the carmaker to deploy new strategies, one of which is to launch an affordable version of the Model Y. As of now, Model Y is Tesla’s top selling product, contributing around 2/3rd to total global deliveries.
    Cheaper Model Y – What to expect?
    Production of the affordable Tesla Model Y is planned to commence around August or September. Tesla has not provided any specific details about the new model. However, with cost reduction in mind, one can expect some changes in the configuration and equipment list. For example, a lower capacity battery with reduced range could be included. Some of the premium features such as active noise cancellation, rear 8-inch touchscreen, etc. could be axed.
    In terms of pricing, the affordable Tesla Model Y could be aiming at a price of around $30,000 or less. As of now, Tesla Model Y is priced at $37,490 for the long-range rear-wheel drive variant and $41,490 for the long-range all-wheel drive variant. These prices are inclusive of the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit that is currently available to customers in the United States. However, the Federal Tax Credit system will be ending on September 30, 2025. That will lead to a sharp increase in prices of Tesla cars. That’s where the affordable Tesla Model Y becomes relevant.
    Sales slump, regulatory credits discontinuation
    Another worry is the slowdown in demand, with Tesla reporting a drop in sales for the second consecutive quarter. Second quarter CY2025 earnings witnessed a 16% drop at $1.17 billion. This was largely due to a 13% drop in sales, led by factors like rising operating expenses and reduced earnings per unit sold.
    In the future, Tesla’s earnings from regulatory credits will also reduce. Also called carbon credits or zero-emission vehicle credits, these credits are purchased by ICE-based vehicle manufacturers who exceed their emission limits. EV manufacturers like Tesla have surplus credits, which are sold for 100% profit. This has been a significant source of revenue for Tesla and other EV-only manufacturers.
    But with the new One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA), traditional automakers won’t be fined for failing to meet CAFE standards in the United States. This in turn will reduce the incentive to buy credits from Tesla. In Q2, CY2025, Tesla reported a significant 51% drop in regulatory credit revenue. That amounts to a loss of $441 million, as compared to Q2 2024 figures. And $154 million of that decline occurred since the previous quarter (Q1 2025).
    Musk confident about future growth
    Elon Musk admitted that the company could face a few rough quarters. This resulted in the share prices tanking by 7%. However, Musk views these challenges as temporary setbacks rather than fundamental structural issues. Musk is expecting new revenue sources such as Tesla’s upcoming self-driving tech.
    It will be seen with the robotaxi service, which is currently being tested in Texas. The self-driving tech will also be used in vehicles such as the Cybercab. Tesla is also working on advanced humanoid robots, which can be a gamechanger and emerge as a major source of income. According to Musk, Tesla’s challenges will likely be resolved by the second half or by the end of next year. More

While the motorcycle has been spotted on test several times in the past, the latest spy shots confirm its final production-ready form. These new images, captured on public roads near Pune by Sohib Solomon, suggest that Triumph has begun filming promotional content for the launch, indicating the bike is just weeks away from an official debut.

    The Thruxton 400 is Triumph’s fourth model based on the 400cc platform, following the Speed 400, Speed T, and Scrambler 400X. This upcoming cafe racer takes design inspiration from its larger sibling, the Thruxton 1200, and blends it with the proven mechanicals of the 400 platform. The latest test mule appears completely undisguised, sporting a red-and-silver paint scheme with a classic stripe across the tank and tail section.

    The Thruxton 400 shares much of its underpinnings with the Speed 400, including the tubular steel frame and bolt-on subframe. Suspension duties are handled by 43mm USD forks at the front and a gas-charged monoshock at the rear. Interestingly, the forks are finished in black (unlike the golden units on Speed 400), giving the Thruxton 400 a more understated yet aggressive appearance.

The global test mules featured Pirelli Diablo Rosso rubber, though the India-spec version is likely to use MRF tyres. Braking setup includes a 300mm front disc and 230mm rear disc with dual-channel ABS as standard. Instrumentation appears to be borrowed from the Speed 400, featuring an analog speedometer with a multifunction LCD inset.

    Pricing is expected to slot between the Speed 400 (Rs 2.34 lakh) and Scrambler 400X (Rs 2.64 lakh), with a slight premium due to the cafe racer styling and added equipment. The final price could fall around Rs 2.55 to 2.65 lakh (ex-showroom).

    Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India (HMSI) has just unveiled a new entrant into the highly competitive 125cc segment. This new bike, called CB125 Hornet will open for bookings from 1st August 2025 and will compete in this space with TVS Raider, Hero Xtreme 125R and Bajaj Pulsar N125.
    While each of these competitors are also strong in terms of demand, let us see what the Honda CB125 Hornet brings with it so as to set itself apart. This comparison will be assessed in terms of design, features and performance. However, price of the newest Honda entrant into this arena is yet to be announced.
    Honda CB125 Hornet
    Honda CB125 Hornet Vs Rivals – Performance
    Even as each of these rivals are in the 125cc segment and get a 5 speed gearbox as standard, there are some differences in engine performance. The TVS Raider offers the highest peak power at 11.7 Nm at 6,000 rpm with iGo assist. Conversely, the Honda CB125 Hornet shapes up at 11.2 Nm at 6,000 rpm while Hero Xtreme 125R offers 10.5 Nm at 6,500 rpm and Bajaj Pulsar N125 is capable of 11 Nm torque at 6,000 rpm.
    In terms of power, the Pulsar 125 offers higher than its rivals at 12 hp at 8,500 rpm while the new Honda CB125 Hornet is the lowest at 11.2 hp at 7,500 rpm. Another area of differentiation is where the kick start feature is concerned. Here, only the N125 and Xtreme 125R come in with a kick start option which is missing on the Raider and CB125 Hornet.

    Honda CB125 Hornet is also exclusive in the fact that it is the only one among its rivals to get USD fork while the other come in with RSU telescopic units with monoshock as standard. In braking, it is the 240 mm disc/drum brake that is offered across Honda CB125 Hornet, TVS Raider and Hero Xtreme 125R while their Bajaj Pulsar counterpart receives a 230mm disc/drum brake.
    It has to be noted that Hero Xtreme 125 offers the largest disc at the front at 276 mm with ABS variant. Only the Hero Xtreme 125R and Honda CB125 Hornet come equipped with ABS, which is single-channel, working on front disc brakes. None of these bikes are offered with rear disc brakes, even as an option.

    Where overall weight and dimensions are concerned, the Honda Hornet is at 124 kgs while the TVS Raider gets a 1 kg edge over this new comer with a kerb weight of 123 kgs. Hero Xtreme 125R and Bajaj Pulsar N125 stand significantly heavier at 136 kgs and 127 kgs respectively. The new Hornet also has the lowest ground clearance at 166mm but the longest wheel base at 1330 mm.
    Seat height is at 796 mm, higher than the TVS Raider that stands at 780mm and Hero Xtreme and Bajaj Pulsar N125 that are at 794mm and 795mm respectively. The Pulsar ground clearance is in view of its ADV-reminiscent styling and larger fork gaiters. The new Honda CB125 Hornet receives the largest fuel tank with capacity of 12 liters while its rivals TVS Raider and Hero Xtreme 125R have 10 liter tank capacity Bajaj Pulsar N125 has the smallest tank capacity of 9.5 liter.

    Finally we assess each of these rivals in terms of pricing. Though the price of Honda CB125 Hornet is yet to be announced, it could be offered in a similar ballpark as the TVS Raider that is priced from Rs 87,010 – 1.02 lakh. Hero Xtreme 125R is priced higher at Rs 98,425 – 1.02 lakh while the Bajaj Pulsar is now priced at Rs 95,213 – 99,213. If these, the Honda CB125 Hornet is only offered in a single variant. Price should be revealed shortly prior to booking opening on 1st August 2025.
    Features
    All four motorcycles offer similar lighting features with LED headlamps, DRLs and LED tail lights. It is the TVS Raider that is offered with bulb indicators while the other three have LED indicators. Honda Hornet and TVS Raider also receive TFT displays while the Bajaj Pulsar N125 and Hero Xtreme 125R get LCD displays.

    Tata Harrier EV – Waiting period
    Harrier EV is available in three broad trims – Adventure, Fearless+ and Empowered. RWD is standard and RWD variants are available in the price range of Rs 21.49 lakh to Rs 27.49 lakh. AWD variants (QWD) are priced in the range of 28.99 lakh to Rs 30.23 lakh. Waiting period is highest for the Adventure and Fearless+ variants.
    Harrier EV variants with the longest waiting period are Adventure 65 and Adventure 65 ACFC. Both these variants have a waiting period of 28 to 30 weeks or close to 7 months. Waiting period for Adventure S 65 and Adventure S 65 ACFC is 18 to 21 weeks or close to 5 months. The same waiting period of 18 to 21 weeks is also applicable for Harrier EV Fearless+ 65, Fearless+ 65 ACFC, Fearless+ 75 and Fearless+ 75 ACFC.

    Customers buying the top-spec Empowered variants of Harrier EV can get their deliveries much faster. It includes the AWD variants. These have a waiting period in the range of 12 to 15 weeks or around 3.5 months. Variants include Harrier EV Empowered 75 ACFC, Empowered ST 75ACFC, Empowered AWD 75ACFC, Empowered AWD ST 75FC, Empowered 75, Empowered ST 75, Empowered AWD 75 and Empowered AWD ST 75. Waiting period can vary based on location and dealership.
    Tata Harrier EV – Specs, performance, range
    Two battery packs are on offer, a 65 kWh and a 75-kWh unit. The battery packs are IP67 rated and come with a dedicated liquid cooling system. Tata is offering lifetime warranty and unlimited kilometres on the battery pack. The single rear mounted electric motor in RWD variants generates 238 PS and 315 Nm of torque. The AWD (QWD) variants have a dual-motor setup, with the front motor generating 158 PS. Combined torque output of Harrier EV AWD variants is 504 Nm.

    RWD variants have drive modes of Eco, City and Sport. AWD variants get an additional Boost mode. Using the Boost mode can unlock exhilarating experiences, as it unleashes the max possible power and torque. Users can expect superfast acceleration, with 0 to 100 km/h achievable in just 6.3 seconds. That makes the Harrier EV the fastest in its class.
    Harrier EV base variant and Fearless+ have three terrain modes of Normal, Wet and Rough. The Empowered RWD variants have an additional Custom mode that can be adjusted as per the user’s needs and preferences.     MG Comet EV Prices Hiked Up To Rs 15k – Now Starts Rs 7.5L

    MG Motor had increased prices of Comet EV twice in 2025, once in February and next in May as well. Prices have again been increased for the third time, post which, MG Comet EV is now available at a starting price of Rs 7.50 lakh. Let’s take a look at the price hike of all variants of Comet EV.
    MG Comet EV New Prices – July 2025
    MG Comet EV is offered in three broad trims – Executive, Excite and Exclusive. There’s a special Blackstorm Edition as well. Price of the base Executive variant has been increased by Rs 14,300. With that, the base variant is now available at Rs 7.50 lakh. Comet EV Excite and Exclusive variants have witnessed a price hike of Rs 15,000 each. These are now available at Rs 8.57 lakh and Rs 9.56 lakh, respectively (all prices Ex-sh).
    Comet EV Excite FC and Exclusive FC variants are now priced at Rs 8.97 lakh and Rs 9.97 lakh, respectively. Top-spec Blackstorm Edition has become costlier by Rs 13,700. It is now available at a starting price of Rs 10 lakh. Increased pricing for MG Comet EV is applicable with immediate effect (all prices Ex-sh).
    Even with a starting price of Rs 7.50 lakh, MG Comet EV works out more affordable than its primary rivals. For example, Tata Tiago EV is available at a starting price of Rs 7.99 lakh. Citroen eC3 is priced much higher at Rs 11.99 lakh. Later this year, MG Comet EV could see a new rival in the form of Renault Kwid EV. Test vehicles have been spotted multiple times in recent months. Renault Kwid EV could be launched at around Rs 7 lakh (base variant) (all prices Ex-sh).

    More accessible with BaaS
    MG Motor’s industry-first BaaS program has been a major success. If we look at MG’s sales breakup, the Windsor EV is the top selling car. Comet EV is the second bestseller, contributing close to 15% to the brand’s overall sales volumes. A number of buyers choose the BaaS ownership program, as it significantly reduces the initial acquisition cost. Paying the battery charges per kilometre is a lot easier to fit within the monthly budget.
    Under the BaaS ownership program for Comet EV, the battery rental is currently Rs 3.1 per km. Earlier, it was Rs 2.9 per km. At the time of Comet EV launch, the battery rental was Rs 2.50 per km. With the BaaS program, the base Executive variant can be purchased at just Rs 4.99 lakh.
    MG Comet Excite variant under BaaS is available at Rs 6.20 lakh. The Excite FC will cost Rs 6.60 lakh, whereas the Exclusive starts at Rs 7.20 lakh. MG Comet EV Exclusive FC variant is available at Rs 7.60 lakh under the BaaS program. Top-spec Blackstorm Edition starts at just Rs 7.63 lakh.
