2024 Ford Mustang’s New V-8 Supercharger Kit Unlocks 800 HP

The 2024 Ford Mustang is getting a new supercharger kit courtesy of Ford Performance. With the regular 5.0-liter V-8, Ford claims the kit will raise horsepower from 480 to at least 800.The supercharger debuts on the Ford Mustang FP800S concept, which previews a package of other Ford Performance parts.Just because Dodge isn’t building any more V-8 Hellcats doesn’t mean Ford isn’t interested in making new Mustangs with 800-plus horsepower. That’s what’s on the menu with the new Ford Performance supercharger kit, which debuts on the Ford Mustang FP800S concept at this year’s SEMA show.Supercharged 5.0The Mustang’s naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V-8 is good for 480 horses off the showroom floor. That figure rises to at least 800 horses with the Whipple 3.0-liter supercharger, which also comes with obligatory upgrades to the air and fuel systems. Ford says the kit is compatible with the automatic and manual transmission, and the company says a version that’s specially designed for the Mustang Dark Horse is also on the way.FordThe supercharger kit is compliant with CARB regulations, and it comes with a three-year, 36,000-mile warranty from Ford Performance. The Mustang kit will be available next year, but a price hasn’t been released.Mustang FP800S ConceptJust like it did with the Ford F-150 FP700, the company has now revealed a similar treatment for its pony car. Not only does the Mustang FP800S concept have the new supercharger, but it has a Borla Extreme cat-back exhaust with four 5.0-inch tips. The concept also has a lowered ride height, carbon-fiber aero elements, and it’s fitted with stronger half-shafts. FordThe supercharger kit is available separate from the FP800S package, which we think will make it to production. We especially like the Mustang concept’s appearance, mixing white wheels and matching grille nostrils with a body-side stripe that looks appropriately racy. 2024 GMC Sierra HD AEV Grande Concept Is a Formidable Flatbed Truck

AEV took a 2024 GMC Sierra 2500HD and outfitted it to look like a formidable flatbed pickup truck. The regular-cab model adds steel bumpers, a huge brush guard, off-road lights, and a winch. The heavy-duty Sierra is powered by a Duramax diesel 6.6-liter V-8 that breathes through a snorkel air intake.American Expedition Vehicles (AEV) knows how to make a tough truck even tougher. Take the 2024 GMC Sierra 2500HD hat the company transformed for this year’s SEMA show. What started out as a regular-cab, long-bed model is outfitted with all manner of AEV add-ons that turn it into a heavy-duty overlander.A Sierra HD for SEMAThe Sierra HD Grande concept looks like it could drive through a brick wall. That’s mostly because of its huge grille guard, which is an AEV prototype that provides protection for the headlights too. It features four powerful off-road lights, and below them is a 12,500-pound ComeUp winch. That winch is integrated into a steel front bumper that’s the same one found on the Sierra HD AT4X AEV Edition. Just like that truck, the concept has the AT4X suspension that includes Multimatic spool-valve dampers and a 1.5-inch lift. Those buoy giant 40-inch BFGoodrich all-terrain tires mounted on Salta XD wheels. Should one of those go flat, there’s a full-size spare in the truck’s eight-foot aluminum flatbed. To better ensure its underbody doesn’t get too banged up on treacherous terrain, AEV bolted on stamped steel skid plates. There’s also a custom steel bumper out back with a 9500-pound winch. Other accessories include an ARB air compressor and a snorkel air intake, which lets the Duramax diesel—a 6.6-liter V-8 making 470 horsepower and 975 pound-feet of torque—breathe should the truck need to wade into water.AEVAEVThe Sierra HD Grande concept looks formidable. That’s what oversize tires and a big brush guard will do. Its custom paint isn’t something you’ll find on a factory model, and neither are the prototype AEV front fender flares. While a 2024 GMC Sierra 2500HD regular cab starts at just over $47K, this concept’s mix of custom elements make it priceless. Extra Sierra HD ReadingThis content is imported from poll. Toyota’s FJ Bruiser Concept Is a Badass Land Cruiser Truck

This Toyota FJ Bruiser, which honors the 1966 FJ45 pickup’s styling, is appearing at the 2023 SEMA show in Las Vegas. There’s quite a bit more power this time around, though: in place of the six-cylinder engine from the 1966 vehicle, Toyota sourced a 725-hp V-8 from a NASCAR Cup car. The truck rides on a set of Method Double Standard beadlock wheels and 42-inch BFGoodrich Krawler T/A KX tires.SEMA is about going above and beyond, and Toyota nailed that idea with this concept. The manufacturer just revealed a high-riding, V-8 snarling FJ45 concept called the FJ Bruiser. As can be intuited from the name, the concept pays homage to the 1966 FJ45 pickup truck. This time around, there are quite a few serious modifications. ToyotaThe team at Toyota must have concluded that the FJ45 from the Sixties wasn’t nearly tough enough, because Toyota’s Motorsports Garage fabricated a full tube frame and roll cage, which they then mated to the vintage FJ body. A full trailing-arm suspension, with Fox shocks and Eibach springs, was added to suspend the chassis. The whole contraption rides on a set of Method Double Standard 20-by-10-inch beadlock wheels and 42-by-14.5 R-20 BFGoodrich Krawler T/A KX tires to provide gobs of traction off-road. A modified 358-cubic-inch NASCAR Cup Car V-8 produces 725 horsepower. Power is transferred to the wheels by way of a three-speed automatic transmission built by Rancho Drivetrain Engineering. Exhaust is managed through a custom MagnaFlow exhaust system. More on the Land CruiserThe FJ Bruiser retains the FJ45’s solid axle but adds new front and rear differentials along with a new transfer case that provides four two-wheel-drive speeds and four four-wheel-drive speeds. According to Toyota, the gearing setup allows the Bruiser to crawl at 12 mph while revving to 7000 rpm in the lowest gear and up to 165 mph at 7000 rpm in the highest gear.ToyotaIn the event that the horsepower outmaneuvers the huge tires, Toyota fitted a conveyer belt complete with treading underneath the truck. Like some sort of Mad Max–devised treadmill, the Tank mode can be activated from the cabin for those pesky instances where you find yourself supported by the gas tank rather than your tires. Ather 450X HR Homologated – 2nd Model With HR Suffix After 450S HR

Image for reference onlyWhere battery size is concerned, Ather 450X HR packs a 3.66 kWh pack that promises a 158 km range certified by AIS 040In the newfound popularity of electric scooters in India, Ather Energy is among the leading players. Competition is intensifying with new entrants from startup brands and mainstream scooter manufacturers. Ather is fortifying its grounds with a new HR lineup that could mean High Range. 2nd model with HR tag is Ather 450X HR, recently homologated after 450S HR.What is HR in Ather 450X HR homologated? For starters, HR can mean a lot of things. Considering electric scooter nomenclature and the fact that these HR models claim a higher range in homologation documents, HR in Ather 450X HR and Ather 450S HR could mean ‘High Range’ or ‘Higher Range’. The new models will be identical to Ather’s outgoing design. In terms of dimensions, both Ather 450X HR and Ather 450S HR have the same dimensions – 1837 mm in length, 739 mm in width, 1114 mm in height, 1296 mm in wheelbase and has a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of 243 kg. All Ather’s scooters follow the same dimensions as the brand only has one scooter design, with a 2nd maxi scooter design in the works. Both Ather 450X HR and 450S HR boast almost similar specs where powertrains are concerned. But there are surprises in the mix. A 74 Ah battery pack is common between the two. When Voltage is brought into the mix, Ather 450X HR has less energy at 3.66 kWh as opposed to 3.76 kWh of Ather 450S HR.Ather 450X HR HomologatedThat said, both the batteries weigh 22 kg each. Where range is concerned, Ather 450X HR boasts up to 158 km and 450S HR claims 156 km as per AIS 040 (Rev 1). As of now, Ather 450X is on offer with 2.9 kWh and 3.7 kWh battery options promising 111 km and 150 km of claimed range. However, top speed for Ather 450X HR isn’t mentioned in the new homologation documents. Ather 450S HR claims an 80 km/h top speed and has a comparable range of 450X HR. So, a 90 km/h top speed is highly likely with 450X HR. For context, both 450S and 450X currently on sale, promise a top speed of 90 km/h.What to expect in terms of features?Power figures ranges between 1.9 kW (2.54 bhp) in Eco Mode and 6.4 kW (8.6 bhp) in Warp Mode. Sport Mode, Ride Mode and Smart Eco Mode packs 5.5 kW (7.37 bhp), 3.2 kW (4.29 bhp) and 2.3 kW (3.08 bhp) respectively. Recently homologated 450S HR lacks Warp Mode and has slightly less power in other modes.Where features are concerned, Ather 450X HR will come equipped with all the bells and whistles. The 7-inch Google-powered touchscreen dashboard with Google Maps, sleek UI and others will be on offer. Other attributes like dual disc brakes, LED lighting, 22L boot space, and others are highly likely too. There may be new and exciting colours exclusive to HR models too. We’re not sure whether Ather is offering its Pro package as standard fitment with 450X HR. As of now, Pro pack for 450X costs Rs. 23,000 and comes with Ather RideAssist, Ather Connect, and AtherStack OTA updates. Launch could happen very soon. More

In place of the gear lever used with standard ICE Hiace, the BEV version has a rotary dial.Toyota Hiace BEV Concept Interior LayoutToyota has not revealed any details about the powertrain. Mahindra Thar Electric Homologated – Prepping For New Adventures

Mahindra Thar Electric HomologatedAs compared to existing Thar that has a ladder frame chassis, Thar electric will utilize Mahindra’s advanced INGLO platformEarlier this year in August, Mahindra had unveiled the Thar electric SUV concept. It had received wide appreciation for its splendid design and enhanced off-roading capabilities. Thar electric, which will go on sale as Thar.e, has now been homologated in India.Thar electric – Improving the iconic designGlobally, the armoured look is becoming the new normal for several of the next-gen off-road focused SUVs. Thar electric seems to be working on the same lines. The design is so unique that it’s difficult even to relate it to existing ICE-based Thar. Also helps to wipe the slate clean, in view of legal hurdles Thar had to face in the past. All-new Thar electric is bold, brawny, brutish and born to conquer.Mahindra Thar Electric HomologatedSome of the key highlights of Thar.e include squarish LED headlamps with integrated DRLs, rugged front and rear bumper, new clamshell bonnet and large wheel arches. The SUV gets a bold new design for the alloy wheels. These are shod with off-road tyres with deep tread patterns. The flat roof and rear section create the signature boxy profile. Doors have exposed hinges, which complement the SUV’s rugged character.Inside, Thar.e will have a large touchscreen and a fully digital instrument console. The cockpit area wears a decluttered look, enhancing the sense of roominess. The centre console is placed high, ensuring a clear demarcation of individual spaces. Thar electric has a new steering wheel with mounted controls. The large, robust grab handles are functionally relevant and hint towards the SUV’s off-roading capabilities.New Mahindra Thar ElectricMahindra Thar.e performanceMahindra is yet to reveal powertrain details of Thar electric. However, it will be safe to assume that the electric version will have even better capabilities than existing ICE variant. Both 3-door and 5-door models will be on offer. These will have dual motor setup. The INGLO platform will be using BYD’s Blade and Prismatic cells that are known for their durability and long range.Ground clearance of Thar electric will be 250 mm to 300 mm. Front and rear overhang will be kept as low as possible. It will be around 640 mm – 680 mm and 680 mm – 740 mm, respectively. Wheelbase will be 2,775 mm to 2,975 mm. Thar electric will have best in class approach angle, departure angle, ramp-over angle and water wading capabilities. While Thar electric is quite tempting, enthusiasts may have to wait several months before they can take it for a test ride. Mahindra has its hands full, managing existing deliveries as well as working on its electric range. Mahindra will be electrifying its existing ICE SUVs and also introduce its born-electric SUVs. All of these will take time. Thar electric is unlikely to launch before 2026. It can even stretch to 2027. More

Chevy released more details on the 2024 Equinox EV.Pricing ranges from $34,995 to $52,395, but you’ll have to wait longer for the cheaper models.Claimed range is up to 319 miles, compared with Chevy’s previous estimate of 300 miles.Order books are about to open for the 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV, and that means we now have more information on prices, specs, and trim levels for the new electric compact SUV. Two different 2RS launch versions will arrive first, starting at $48,995, and the base model will begin reaching dealerships later with a lower starting price of $34,995. Chevy also upped its range estimate for the longest-range variant to 319 miles. The launch versions of the Equinox will start at $48,995 for the 210-hp front-wheel-drive 2RS version and $52,395 for the 290-hp all-wheel-drive 2RS version. These models will come standard with equipment including a 17.7-inch touchscreen, a power tailgate, heated front seats, and 21-inch wheels. Chevy also previously showed 3LT and 3RS trims that suggest there might be even more expensive models available later on.Equinox 3RSChevroletThe 1LT base model also won’t arrive until later, but it carries a far more attractive starting price: $34,995. That’s surely for the FWD model, and we don’t yet know how much extra the dual-motor AWD setup will cost. Only one battery pack will be available across the board, and we expect different range estimates depending on trim level, with the 319 mile estimate representing the longest-range variant.Chevy says dealerships will start taking orders for the launch models starting in early November. We don’t yet have specific timing on when Equinox EVs will start reaching customers. It’s possible the cheaper versions won’t arrive until the 2025 model year, but Chevy does say that deliveries of the entire range will start in the 2024 calendar year.More on the Equinox EVSenior EditorDespite being raised on a steady diet of base-model Hondas and Toyotas—or perhaps because of it—Joey Capparella nonetheless cultivated an obsession for the automotive industry throughout his childhood in Nashville, Tennessee. He found a way to write about cars for the school newspaper during his college years at Rice University, which eventually led him to move to Ann Arbor, Michigan, for his first professional auto-writing gig at Automobile Magazine.
