Maruti Ignis Electric 200 Kmph Top Speed – Fastest Indian Modified EV

Maruti Ignis Electric does 200 kmphPune based Northway Motors demonstrates 200 km/h top speed on EV converted Ignis indicated by car’s original speedoIgnis from Maruti Suzuki has been one of the cute little vehicles on sale in India. This car is the entry portal into their premium Nexa experience. Ignis is not exactly shattering sales charts and is currently maintaining sub 3K units. So, nothing interesting, right? But what if we told you someone converted it to run on electricity and made it go 200 kmph? Not so boring now, is it?Maruti Ignis Electric ModifiedIndia’s four-wheel juggernaut, Maruti Suzuki is known for its small and affordable hatchbacks that are easy on the wallet. While there are many Maruti cars following this ethos sold through Arena dealerships, there is only one for Nexa dealerships, the Ignis. With steady sub 3K sales, Ignis is currently India’s 11th best-selling hatchback.Maruti Ignis Electric does 200 kmphBut for Maruti Suzuki, sub 3K sales puts it at the bottom parts of the charts and is 13th best-selling Maruti car. For Pune-based Northway Motors, however, Maruti Ignis was a good donor car to retrofit one of their EV conversion kits. The company specializes in Retrofit EV conversion kits for Tata Ace, EV products and sales, custom OEM products and energy storage solutions. We’re not sure whether Northway Motors used the same EV conversion kit designed and developed for Tata Ace (Rs. 2.75 lakh excluding vehicle) or a custom solution. Regardless, the result is quite fascinating. As seen in the video, we can see a Maruti Suzuki Ignis converted to run on electric power donning green number plates.[embedded content]This EV conversion on Ignis is for R&D only and is tested in a controlled environment on a dynamometer and not on public roads. The conversion is done on a top-spec Ignis Alpha and the car gets green-painted alloy wheels to show its green credentials. Or to match the green registration plates.Maruti Ignis Electric does 200 kmphIgnis 200 kmph!As seen in the video, Northway Motors’ Maruti Ignis electric modified version is powered by a battery and a motor. EVs sold by almost every single OEM are equipped with a single-speed gearbox. Northway Motors, however, seems to have kept Ignis’ 5-speed gearbox for torque optimisation.Maruti Ignis Electric by Northway MotorsThe dyno run of this EV-converted Ignis shows good performance across all five pre-determined gear ratios. The headline figure of 200 km/h top speed is shown on the car’s original speedometer. Even if there is a variance, this is still impressive as it reveals the benefits of running a conventional gearbox with EVs as they tend to have a ratio close to 1 in their top gears or even an overdrive ratio. For OEMs, incorporating a conventional gearbox is more expensive, complicated and heavy. But for EV conversions, this could prove to be a good direction. More

A refreshed version of the same could be used, but an entirely new, full colour display seems more desirable.Pulsar 400 is expected to have the most aerodynamic profile among the entire Pulsar range. Bajaj could be looking to position the Pulsar 400 as one of the fastest in its class. It will help achieve a clear differentiation with rivals such as Triumph Speed 400, KTM 390 Duke, Hero Mavrick 440, BMW G310R and TVS Apache RR 310.Bajaj Pulsar 400 LeaksWith speed and acceleration in focus, Bajaj Pulsar 400 will be getting a wider tyre at the rear. Honda 350 Scrambler Render Based On Leaked Sketch – Upcoming Hunter 450 Rival

Honda 350 Scrambler Render based on leaked sketchRE Classic 350, Standard Jawa and Jawa 350 are the rivals to Honda CB350 and upcoming Scrambler version will take on Yezdi Scrambler and upcoming Hunter 450Where classic and neo-retro motorcycles are concerned, the market has a massive shift in gravity in favour of Royal Enfield. Honda is expanding its lineup CB350 lineup to incorporate a new Scrambler and an ADV to rival Royal Enfield offerings as seen from patent designs. We rendered what Honda’s 350c Scrambler could look like based on patents.Honda CB350 Scrambler RenderedOne must be wondering Honda already offers a Scrambler-ish offering based on the CB350 platform. Yes, we’re talking about CB350 RS which is also on sale in Japan as GB350 S. This CB350 RS gets unique and sporty front and rear fenders along with a slightly different seat design over H’ness CB350.Honda 350cc Scrambler – Sketch leaksHowever, the latest design patents filed by Honda show many more changes than what we saw between H’ness CB350 and CB350 RS. So, this motorcycle might be positioned as a whole new product, rather than just a variant of CB350. Rendering artist Pratyush Rout has penned down these differences into photo-realistic renders.Honda 350 Scrambler RenderFor starters, Honda’s latest patents show an all-new fuel tank that is much larger than what the company currently offer. It is taller too and has more cuts and creases to achieve a chiseled look. There are decently designed knee recesses on the fuel tank, enabling the rider to grip the motorcycle more efficiently.Honda 350 Scrambler RenderFuel tank has an exposed frame which could be used to expand practicality. With the frame, Honda will not only increase luggage carrying capacity, it also increase versatility by allowing it to carry jerry cans for extra fuel for long escapades into the wilderness. Other notable changes seen in our render that reflect Honda’s design patents are a smaller side body panel and a much lower seat height.Honda 350 Scrambler RenderIn keeping with Honda’s current theme we went with a single-piece ribbed pattern seat design while patent design had split seats. Other than that, our render has almost similar componentry between them and the same 348.36 cc engine that generates around 21 bhp and 30 Nm, mated to a 5-speed gearbox.Honda’s strategy with 350cc Scrambler and ADVRoyal Enfield currently dominates the classic and neo-retro motorcycle genre in India. They even have a massive market share in the ADV segment with New Himalayan. However, most of RE’s sales come from 350cc motorcycles. Over 60K 350cc REs were sold last month accounting for 93% of RE’s total market share.Honda 350 Scrambler RenderBut Royal Enfield’s 350cc portfolio lacks lifestyle vehicles like Scramblers and ADVs. For those, you need to go to 450cc segment which can cost up to Rs. 4 lakh (on road, Karnataka). Honda is tackling Royal Enfield with lifestyle vehicles in the lower 350cc segment that should be less pricey. Yezdi is doing something similar with their portfolio too. Also read – Honda CB 350 ADV rendered. More
