One of India’s leading motorcycle manufacturers, Yamaha, is set to push its engineering boundaries beyond expectations in 2025. The CY 2025 has just begun and Yamaha is already making significant advances in technology for Indian market. The company just showcased these products to select dealers in a recent event. Let’s take a closer look.
2025 Yamaha FZ-S, FZ-X Hybrid Showcased To Dealers
In India, Yamaha has a robust 125cc scooter portfolio comprised of RayZR 125 and Fascino 125. These are some of the most fuel-efficient scooters in the 125cc segment, owing to their Hybrid technology. Now, Yamaha is bringing its Hybrid tech to its best-selling motorcycle brand, the FZ lineup.
Hat tip to Nikam Yamaha, we can now see that the company is prepping its FZ lineup to incorporate Hybrid tech. This will make the motorcycle more fuel efficient and put on a good fight against Bajaj Pulsar and TVS Apache rivals. As of now, only the 2025 Yamaha FZ-X DLX is confirmed to get Hybrid tech in the form of SMG (Smart Motor Generator).
Yamaha’s new Hybrid powertrain will feature a small battery that will power an electric motor, acting as both a starter motor and an electric generator. Features include silent start along with an engine stop/start system to ensure maximum fuel efficiency. Notably, Hybrid tech is missing in the premium commuter motorcycles sold in India and can be a key distinction for Yamaha.
Also not seen on any other 150cc motorcycle in India is a colour TFT instrument cluster. Currently, Yamaha employs an LCD cluster on both FZ-S and FZ-X motorcycles with lacklustre features. The new TFT cluster will bring features like Bluetooth connectivity enabling turn-by-turn navigation.
New TFT cluster with Navigation!
If it is the same unit seen on R15, we can expect features like Music Control as well. It will come with improved switchgear with additional buttons to control this cluster. However, this instrument cluster is only confirmed to launch with FZ-X DLX and there is a probability of FZ-S Ver 4.0 DLX getting it too.
Coming from Yamaha, we can expect quite a price premium over the current model. For context, Yamaha FZ-X STD prices start from Rs 1.37 lakh (Ex-sh) and FZ-S Ver 4.0 STD starts from Rs 1.31 lakh (Ex-sh). Along with Hybrid tech and TFT cluster, Yamaha also showcased new colours set to launch with 2025 FZ-S Ver 4.0 and 2025 FZ-X.
2025 FZ-S Ver 4.0 gets four colours in STD variant and two colours in DLX variant. STD variant gets one single-tone shade along with three dual-tone colours with new graphics. Two of these colours get painted wheels too. In DLX version, we can see there are only two colours, down from six, with new graphics.
The nomenclature with 2025 FZ-X has changed and we now get STD and DLX variants like FZ-S. There are two colour options with both STD and DLX versions. Only the DLX variant gets painted wheels and Chrome tank option. These motorcycles have been showcased to dealers and will be launched soon.
