Honda has given the Odyssey minivan an attractive update for the 2021 model year to compete with the likes of the new Chrysler Pacifica and the redesigned Toyota Sienna. It’ll start at $32,910 for the base LX model and reach up to $48,940 for the loaded Elite model, which has a nicer interior and unique 19-inch wheels.
Step up to the Odyssey EX, which now has restyled seats and tri-color floor mats, and the starting price rises to $36,310. The EX-L, which starts at $39,580, adds contrast stitching on the seats and power lumbar support for the front passenger seat. The Touring and Elite models, which start at $43,620 for the former and $48,940 for the latter, get these additions as well, along with new black trim on the dash, doors, and front door handles.
The new Honda vans are distinguished by LED headlights, similar to those on the Civic and Accord, as well as a new black and chrome grille and lower fascia. The EX models adds LED fog lights, while the Touring model gets 19-inch wheels and the Elite has gray 19-inch wheels. Inside, new Magic Slide rear seats, which are available on the EX and higher, fold completely flat, allowing more cargo in the back compared with the previous model. There’s also a new Rear Seat Reminder feature and an optional child-viewing system, which can also be added to 2018 through 2020 models via an over-the-air update.
The 2021 Honda Odyssey continues to be powered by a 3.5-liter V-6 that produces 280 horsepower, along with a standard 10-speed automatic transmission. However, unlike the Chrysler Pacifica and the Toyota Sienna, which both now offer all-wheel drive, the Odyssey remains front-wheel drive only. The new Odyssey goes on sale on August 3.
