2021 Chevy Colorado Adopts Silverado Styling, Gets Slight Price Adjustments

  • The base price of the 2021 Chevrolet Colorado mid-size pickup rises by $4000 to $26,395, but that’s because Chevy has dropped the entry-level model that existed in the 2020 model year.
  • The new base model, the Work Truck, goes up $500 over 2020, but it also adds new features.
  • Production of the 2021 Colorado begins later this month.

For 2021, Chevrolet maintains the competitive pricing of the Colorado. The entry-level trim is now the Work Truck (WT), and it starts at $26,395—$4000 more than the price of entry last year, because the Base model has been dropped for 2021—but up only $500 compared with last year’s WT. The rugged and off-road-oriented top trim, the ZR2, increased $200 in price to $42,995.

While Chevy introduced the updated ZR2 last fall, this is the first time seeing the 2021 LT and Z71 trims. They both adopt the styling seen on Chevy’s popular Silverado with a more upright front fascia, larger air intakes, and a wider stance. The details of the grille have also been updated in line with the look of the Silverado, and the Chevrolet name is now pressed into the Colorado’s tailgate.

Without the entry-level Base, four trims remain. The LT goes up $100 and the Z71 remains the same price. While 2021 model year pricing hasn’t yet been announced for the Colorado’s competitors such as the Ford Ranger and the Toyota Tacoma, the dropping of the Base trim makes the Colorado more expensive than the entry-level 2020 Ranger by $1000 but still cheaper than the base 2020 Tacoma.

Production of the 2021 Colorado is set to begin later this month, and the pickup should reach dealers shortly thereafter.
