Yamaha Street Rally BS6
Yamaha has released the promotional video of its latest BS6 scooter variants, the RayZR and RaySR 125 FI. The new scooters have also been launched
The Japanese two wheeler giant has completed the process of migrating its Indian scooter portfolio from the older 113 cc carburated engine to a new 125 cc fuel-injected motor. The Yamaha Fascino 125 Fi has already been launched and the new Ray twins have been launched today.
The Yamaha RayZR 125 Fi and RaySR 125 Fi twins feature noticeable styling changes to the already bold design of the older model. The headlamp-carrying front apron has gotten bulkier but the odd-looking low-mounted turn-indicators have been moved up to the handle-bar cowl. The updated scooters feature a unique DRL and a small visor on the handlebar cowl. Below are prices of the new BS6 Yamaha Ray ZR 125 BS6 FI and the Street Rally 125 BS6.
Yamaha | Price ex-sh |
---|---|
Ray ZR 125 FI BS6 Drum Brake | Rs 66,730 |
Ray ZR 125 FI BS6 Disc Brake | Rs 69,370 |
Street Rally 125 FI BS6 Disc | Rs 70,3760 |
The engine cover, taillight, grab rails, exhaust canister and seats have also undergone a comprehensive overhaul. The new design continues to be audacious but managed to shed some of the older model’s rough edges.
Both 2020 Yamaha RayZR 125 FI and RaySR 125 FI feature digital instrument console, optional USB charging, 21 liter underseat storage space, side-stand engine cut-off switch, multi-function ignition switch, alloy wheels, telescopic front suspension, front disc brake, Unified Braking System, and engine start/stop system (switches of when the engine is idling and you need to accelerate to restart the engine).
The 2020 Yamaha RaySR 125 Fi (SR stands for Street Rally) two additional features compared to the RayZR – a 110 section rear tyre with block-type elements and knuckle guards. It also receives special color and graphics theme. Despite looking bulkier than most 125 cc scooters in the market, the Ray twin’s have a relatively lighter kerb weight of 99 kg which should make for urban friendly riding characteristics and sprightly performance.
Speaking of performance, the new Yamaha RayZR and RaySR are powered by the 125 cc air-cooled fuel-injected engine which also does duty on the newly launched Fascino. The motor produces 8.2 hp and 9.7 Nm of torque compared to the 113 cc motor’s 7.2 hp and 8.1 Nm. The new motor is claimed to offer 16% better fuel efficiency. The Yamaha Ray twins will be targeting young urban audience and will be picking up a fight against the likes of Honda Dio.
