The Yamaha R15 motorcycle posted positive sales in January 2020, as it was the 3rd best selling product.
India Yamaha Motors has seen de-growth across its lineup of scooters and motorcycles save for the R15 which posted a 5 percent increase in sales while in the performance segment it was the Yamaha R3 recording 8 percent increased sales. The Fascino scooter, with sales down 7 percent as compared to sales in January 2019, saw the highest sales during the past month at 11,647 units. The Ray and Alpha scooters posted de-growth of 71 percent and 91 percent respectively to 2,232 units and 136 units.
In the motorcycle segment, it was Yamaha FZ that saw maximum number of sales at 13,957 units in January 2020, though 23 percent lower as compared to sales in January 2019 when 18,083 units were sold. R15 sales increased 5 percent to 6,719 units while SZ sales failed to take off in the past month thereby recording a 100 percent de-growth as against 2,236 units sold in January 2019.

The Yamaha MT-15, which was launched in India in late 2019 noted sales of 648 units in the past month while in the performance segment it was the Yamaha R3 that saw an increase of 8 percent to 41 units as against 38 units sold in January 2019. Total domestic sales declined to 35,912 units in Jan 2020, from 55,355 units sold in Jan 2019. This is a decline of 35%.
Speaking about exports, Yamaha India exported a total of 16,316 units last month. Compared to Jan 2019, when the company exported 14,484 units, this is an increase of 12.65%. On the top of the exports chart for Yamaha India was the FZ, which registered exports of 6,316 units as against 3,028 units in Jan 2019. Ray scooter was on the 2nd spot while Saluto RX was on the 3rd spot. Below is the detailed exports chart.

Yamaha India recently launched the BS6 MT15 with upgrades. It now complies with new emission norms. It also gets added features and colour updates. It will get a 155cc single cylinder, liquid cooled engine that does duty on the new R15 V3.0 to offer 18.3 bhp power and 14.1 Nm torque mated to a 6 speed gearbox.
Yamaha also introduced the BS6 FZ25 while the FZS 25 was also unveiled. While the former will be available in India from April 2020 onwards, launch details of the latter are yet to be announced. No prices have also been revealed but the FZ25 BS6 will be powered by a 249cc, air cooled, SOHC, 4 stroke engine offering 20.8 bhp power and 20.1 Nm torque mated to a 5 speed constant mesh transmission and gets dual channel ABS. Yamaha FZ 25 BS6 will get colour options of Metallic Black and Racing Blue and the Yamaha FZS 25 BS6 gets Dark Cyan, Dark Matte Blue and Metallic White paint schemes.
