Honda Activa 125 BS6 recalled as its cooling fan cover and oil gauge have to be replaced
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has issued a recall notice for the new Activa 125 BS6. It was only recently that the Japanese two-wheeler brand launched the BS6 Honda Activa 125 on the Indian market, at a starting price of Rs 67,490 for Standard variant. The higher Alloy and Deluxe variants carry a price tag of Rs 70,990 and Rs 74,490, respectively. The prices mentioned here are ex-showroom.
Apparently, the latest Active 125 version has a faulty cooling fan cover and oil gauge that need to be replaced at the earliest. Furthermore, Honda has also shared that the scooter’s owner’s manual will be updated.
The company has not shared additional details as to how the faulty components would affect the scooter’s performance or basic functioning. Ideally, no manufacturer would admit the ill effects of not replacing a faulty vehicle component or system, but would take all the effective measures to ensure that the issues are addressed either by replacement or repair. In the case of the Honda Activa 125 BS6, the recall will completely replace the parts.
How To Check If Your Activa 125 BS6 Is Affected
The overall process would take roughly 30 minutes to complete and the owner need not bear the cost. If you wish to know whether your Activa 125 comes in the recall list, you can visit Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India’s official website — www.honda2wheelersindia.com — and enter your scooter’s VIN number. Further instructions will be available there itself.
As mentioned before, the Honda Activa BS6 is available in three variants. Compared to the old BS4 model, prices have gone up by a significant margin. In fact, the BS6 Standard variant is expensive by almost Rs 2,500 over the top-spec Disc variant of the BS4 Activa 125.
Updating to BS6 emission norms have also brought about a slight drop in engine output even though it wouldn’t be noticeable in day-to-day runs. The Activa 125 is not the only product that has undergone a power drop after being updated to higher emission norms. Several scooters and motorcycles from different brands have faced the same downside.
The Honda Activa BS6 is powered by a 124cc air-cooled motor that makes 8.2bhp (down from 8.52bhp) and 10.3Nm of torque. The BS6 motor is fuel-injected as well and promises better fuel efficiency while keeping emissions in check. Other features include ‘silent start’, semi-digital instrument console, idle stop-start, fuel efficiency indicator and distance-to-empty reading. The scooter comes with an external fuel filler to boost practicality.
