Land Rover 75th-Anniversary Defender Is Freshly Minted

Next year will mark 75 years since the first Land Rover, the Series I, was shown to the public at the 1948 Amsterdam Motor Show. The commemorative Defender, known as the 75th Limited Edition, will be available in two- and four-door configurations but will only come with the 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six engine.Standard features include a folding fabric roof and an 11.4-inch touchscreen, but the signature feature is the Grasmere Green paint exclusive to this model.Launched to a motoring public used to post–World War II austerity, the original Land Rover blended the ride quality of a tractor with the creature comforts of a tin garden shed. It was a sort of Wellington boot on wheels, capable of everything from farm labor to pan-global exploration. Every single early Land Rover exudes a deep sense of British pluck. And probably a minor oil slick. To celebrate the lasting charm of the original effort, Jaguar Land Rover has launched a commemorative edition of the current Defender. A modern Land Rover is an entirely different beast than its agricultural ancestor, like a high-rise apartment at London’s opulent One Hyde Park compared to a thatched shepherd’s cottage. Nevertheless, the new Defender is still charming in its way, and here’s a special one.The 75thLimited Edition will be available in either 90 or 110 trims, Land Rover’s terms for the short-wheelbase two-door and the longer four-door version. Regardless of the door count, every one will be powered by the P400 class 3.0-liter inline-six. A turbocharged and supercharged hybrid, this engine is good for 395 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission is standard, as is—of course—on-demand four-wheel drive.C/D TestingThe standard interior features on the Defender 75th Limited Edition are a blend of luxury and off-road intent. There’s a retractable folding fabric roof to let in the great outdoors, and the center console is trimmed in material designed to take abuse. At the same time, the 75th gets heated seats and steering wheel, a head-up display, an upgraded stereo, and an 11.4-inch touchscreen to handle infotainment duties.Land RoverThe real story is the paint, dubbed Grasmere Green. We last saw this shade on the Heritage Edition Defenders, and it’s a direct link to the early Land Rovers. The sort of semi-institutional color you might see in a 1950s British hospital, it’s quite a bit lighter and less metallic than greens found elsewhere in the automotive landscape.Heritage Edition Land Rover Defenders.Richard Pardon/Land RoverLand RoverFor the 75thLimited Edition, the green extends to painted wheels and interior accents as well. It’s still a Wellie on wheels. But a really very nice one. Pricing is expected to be announced shortly. Meet the FamilyThis content is imported from OpenWeb. 2024 Ford Mustang Has a Fox-Body Gauge Cluster Mode

All 2024 Ford Mustangs feature a digital gauge cluster, and as you’d expect, it’s highly configurable. There are settings or “themes” tied to various drive modes to highlight different bits of information. Delve a little deeper into the menus and there’s one theme that’ll delight tons of Mustang fans: Fox Body. No, really. The Fox body ran from 1979 through 1993 and became an icon in its own right. It was a return to form for the nameplate after years of emissions-choked power outputs. In 1984, Ford introduced the high-tech 2.3-liter turbo-powered Mustang SVO—developed by the team that eventually evolved into today’s Ford Performance—and the 5.0-liter V-8 finally crested 200 hp for the first time in years. The Fox also lent itself to the first SVT Cobra and Cobra R near the end of its run. Over the years, the Fox has proved itself to be a robust platform for all sorts of modifications, and a mainstay in pop culture.A 1987 Ford Mustang GT ConvertibleFordSo why not pay tribute? “I grew up with Fox bodies,” says Craig Sandvig, interaction design manager for Ford. “I didn’t own one, I wanted to own one. It was really an aspirational thing. I had lots of friends that had them, I had a girlfriend that had one, it was really cool.”All about the 7th-Gen MustangSandvig tells Road & Track the idea for a Fox-body theme came about early on in the design process. “Taking advantage of a digital screen, it’s fully reconfigurable, right? So what can we do? We experimented with it for a little bit and had some fun.”1988 Mustang GT gauge cluster.Richard M. Baron/R&T ArchiveFord chose to specifically re-create the white needles of the face-lifted Fox body built from 1987 to 1993. Thankfully, it didn’t re-create the 85-mph speedometer fitted to many Fox Mustangs over the years. And yes, when you turn the headlights on, the gauges are “backlit” in green. Sandvig says that there wasn’t enough time to create a gauge cluster paying homage to every prior Mustang generation, so the Fox was chosen, given the popularity of Eighties and Nineties cars at the moment. We suspect a lot of new Mustang owners will choose this gauge cluster theme. Especially if they buy a white 5.0-liter convertible. This content is imported from OpenWeb. Hero Vida Electric Scooter Is Set To launch On 7th Of October

Hero MotoCorp recently won the injunction raised by Hero Electric and can now use the word Hero to market their EVsHero MotoCorp Vida Electric ScooterEven though both Hero MotoCorp and Hero Electric are spawned from the same Munjal family, they are two entirely separate companies. Brijmohan Lall Munjal’s company is now Hero MotoCorp and Dayanand Munjal’s company is now Hero Electric. Vijay Munjal and his son Naveen Munjal head Hero Electric. And his cousin Pawan Munjal is CEO of Hero MotoCorp. The issue revolved around Hero MotoCorp using the trademark ‘Hero’ to market their upcoming EV range under Vida brand. If Hero MotoCorp sold their upcoming electric scooters without ‘Hero’ word or their existing dealership network, it would be fruitless for the company. However, Hero MotoCorp has won and now can use ‘Hero’ trademark.Hero Vida Electric ScooterWith this recent victory over Hero Electric, there are now fewer hurdles for Hero MotoCorp in getting its upcoming Vida line of electric scooters ready for launch. And we have a date for Vida e-scooter launch. It’s set to launch on October 7, 2022.Hero MotoCorp has filed patents for names like Vida, Vida MotoCorp, Vida EV, Vida Electric, Vida Scooters and Vida Motorcycles. Any one of these names or a combination might be utilized by the company. Now, that Hero MotoCorp can legally use the ‘Hero’ trademark, it’s left to be seen what the final naming pattern will be.Hero MotoCorp Electric Scooter – Under VIDA BrandNot a lot is known about this upcoming electric scooter line by Hero MotoCorp. One thing is for sure that, like all Hero MotoCorp offerings till date, Vida lineup will also be targeted at mainstream consumer market. What To Expect? For starters, Hero Vida Electric scooter is likely to be mass manufactured. If that is the case, we can expect Vida to be competitively priced. Whether or not Vida electric scooters are going to be number crunchers or not isn’t known, but for certain e-scooter volumes have noticeably improved in recent months.Hero MotoCorp is capable of marketing an e-scooter that’s cost competitive and built on decent engineering. That said, it’s first offering isnt likely to be a low speed e-scooter with top speed capped at 25 km/h either. Considering Hero’s prowess as a large volume seller, it will be interesting to see what level of frugal engineering dictates the fortunes of its electric two wheeler goals.Hero MotoCorp has filed trademark for the name VIDA ElectricIn terms of price and features, Hero Vida electric scooter isn’t likely to be the most expensive in the young e-scooter market. What Hero already has working for it is a well put together bouquet of ev tech. This includes swappable batteries in partnership with Gogoro, charging tech from Ather, and a hub motor. More info regarding the same will be announced by Hero MotoCorp on October 7th. More

With Activa in its arsenal, Honda is practically unmatched. To put it into context, Activa alone accounts for more than 50 percent of Honda’s total sales. If you take top 10 best-selling scooters in India, Activa sells almost as much as the rest of the nine contestants combined. In the global two wheeler market, India plays a leading role for Honda bringing in lakhs of units in sales each month.Honda doesn’t enjoy the same monopoly when it comes to best-selling motorcycles. This is where Honda is currently falling short. This is where Honda is planning to chart a stronger path forward.Honda Upcoming 100cc BikeThis development is in the form of a 100cc bike to challenge Splendor. Right now, Honda’s lowest capacity commuter motorcycle engine is a 110cc unit (109.51cc) that does duties on CD 110 Dream and Livo. Above these are Honda Shine and SP 125 which come with a 125cc engine. However, its arch-rival, Hero offers a 100cc platform (97.2cc) which promises more frugality. Something which target audiences appreciate. Honda is also planning to launch over 10 new EVs globally.Atsushi Ogata also stressed that for rural use where short-distance riding is the norm, 125cc and upcoming 100cc models will do better. This market is not too hot for EVs as budget and versatility is the deciding factor here. With a well-tuned suspension and a good frame, this new platform might yield good fruits to Honda and close in the marginal gap that it currently has behind Hero.Specs and PricingCurrently, Honda’s 125cc platform, which consists of Shine and SP125 is powered by a 124cc engine that makes around 10.6 bhp of power and 11 Nm of torque. Shine gets a 4-speed gearbox. While SP125 gets a 5-speed unit. This category of motorcycles offer around 60 km/l of fuel economy in the real world too.Its arch-rival Splendor Plus and HF Deluxe get a 97.2cc engine that is capable of making around 8 bhp of power and 8.05 Nm of torque. This engine is only coupled to a 4-speed gearbox. This platform is even more frugal and offers around 65+ km/l fuel efficiency. While CD 110 Dream starts at around Rs. 70K and Livo start from Rs. 75K. With an aggressive price point, Honda upcoming 100cc bike may make a dent in Splendor sales. The Last Internal-Combustion-Engine Cars: Window Shop with Car and Driver

This content is imported from youTube. You may be able to find the same content in another format, or you may be able to find more information, at their web site. When Car and Driver last issued an episode of Window Shop, Great Britain had recently celebrated seven decades of its Second Elizabethan era. But it has been so long since this august series about finding lust-worthy cars on the Internet last posted that the Second Elizabethan era has ended. Welcome to the first Window Shop of the new Carolean era, the first under the monarchical gaze of the new King Charles III. Long live the King! And yet none of this episode’s panel chose a British machine. Pity. The challenge this time was to find that one car or truck powered by an internal-combustion engine worth holding on to, cherishing, and driving as the world—for better or worse—embraces a whole bushel of ions scattered around tons and tons of lithium.C/D’s anointed royalty this episode includes editor-in-chief Tony Quiroga III, senior editor Her Grace Elana Scherr, most worshipful contributor Jonathon Ramsey, young senior editor and heir apparent Joey Capparella, and some dude who doesn’t even work for C/D, John Pearley Huffman.Who won? The Court Jester, who picked the most obvious choice and fully spent the $200,000 budget. But there were no losers here, as all five machines we featured would be fine additions to any royal stable. Also, no turbochargers were harmed in the making of this Window Shop. Go figure. More Window ShoppingThis content is imported from OpenWeb. It’s not anything revolutionary, but it’s an obvious departure from the units that appear on the current generation.FordThe 2022 Ford Super Duty is currently available with multiple cab styles and cargo-bed lengths.
