2020 Ford Edge ST-Line Is for Those Who Value Looks over Performance

  • Ford is adding a cheaper but less powerful Edge ST-Line model to slot in under the 335-hp Edge ST.
  • The ST-Line models are powered by a 250-hp EcoBoost 2.0-liter engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and available all-wheel drive.
  • Pricing starts at $39,545, and orders are open starting today.

The 2019 Ford Edge ST was the first SUV from the Blue Oval brand to wear the high-performance ST badge, and in its two years on the market, it has been responsible for close to 13 percent of all Ford Edge sales. To increase its popularity, Ford will now offer the Edge ST-Line, which is essentially an Edge ST that’s been prioritizing the beauty salon over the weight room.

Ford says the Edge ST has almost doubled the number of the previous Sport models sold, although it’s not quicker than its predecessor. During Car and Driver testing, the 335-hp Edge ST launched to 60 mph in 5.7 seconds, while the 315-hp Edge Sport reached that speed a tenth of a second quicker. That popular Edge ST model is powered by an EcoBoost twin-turbo 2.7-liter V-6, but the Edge ST-Line SUVs are powered by a 250-hp EcoBoost 2.0-liter engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and available all-wheel drive.

While the Edge ST-Line doesn’t have the ST’s athleticism, it does get its good looks. The front end is distinguished by a black ST honeycomb grille, body-color bumpers, lower cladding, and standard LED lighting. There are more blacked-out bits, too, which include black side roof rails, 20-inch wheels, and ST-Line badging.

And since the ST-Line is meant for those who prioritize looks and features, it comes standard with Ford’s Sync 3 infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Waze, and Amazon Alexa compatibility. There’s also a wireless charging pad inside.

The 2020 Ford Edge ST-Line starts at $39,545, $4965 less than the Edge ST, and is available for order starting today.
