TVS XL100 BS6 launch price Rs 43,044 – Best selling TVS two wheeler

TVS XL100 BS6 launch price (ex-showroom) to be Rs 43,044 for the Heavy Duty i-Touchstart (HDiTS) variant and Rs 43,804 for the HDiTS Special Edition.

The Indian automotive industry is going through a rapid BS6-updation phase before the deadline of April 1, 2020. Being the start of a fresh era in the industry, many brands have introduced completely-new products to welcome the stringent emission norms as well as the new decade. TVS Motor Company has also introduced revamped versions of its popular offerings (such as the Apache range) while a few other models were given mild updates.

Now, prices of the upcoming TVS XL100 BS6 have been revealed. The TVS XL100 Heavy Duty i-Touchstart (HDiTS) comes at a price of Rs 43,044 while the higher HDiTS Special Edition retails at Rs 43,804 in their BS6 avatars. Both prices are ex-showroom (Delhi) and higher by roughly Rs 3,500 over the outgoing BS4 models.

The TVS XL100 (Luna), which is the only moped on sale in the country today, comes in four formats: Comfort, Heavy Duty (HD), HDiTS and HDiTS Special Edition. Each variant is available in a range of colour choices and carries minor differences with respect to each other. In its current BS4 format, prices of the TVS XL100 starts at around Rs 30,000 for the entry-level Comfort variant and touch almost Rs 40,000 for the top-end HDiTS SE version.

The single-gear two-wheeler is a common sight in Tier II and Tier III markets and sets a high benchmark when it comes to affordability, durability, ruggedness and abuse-friendliness. The Indian market has had a fair share of mopeds at one point, but the introduction of CVT scooters and ban on two-strokes eventually led to their demise.

However, TVS Motor Company continued selling the XL100 as a four-stroke product with regular updates ever since. Being a one-of-a-kind offering, the XL100 is one of the strongest-selling TVS products and also one of the highest-selling two-wheelers in the rural market.

In its current BS4 format, the TVS XL100 is good for just above 4bhp and 6.5Nm of torque with its 99.7cc single-cylinder engine. The simple power plant is mated to a single-speed transmission that allows the moped to carry almost double its weight with relative ease (and at low speeds). The new TVS XL100 BS6 might get a basic fuel-injection unit and a reworked exhaust system to cut down emissions, and hence, a higher price tag.
