- Ford made it known today that the front trunk (frunk) of its full-electric Mustang Mach-E can be filled with just about anything.
- The frunk is built to be a cooler, and it’s equipped with a plastic liner and a drainage hole.
- The Ford Mustang Mach-E goes on sale late this year.
“Anyway, like I was sayin’, shrimp is the fruit of the sea. You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, sauté it . . . Pan fried, deep fried, stir fried. There’s pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich. That—that’s about it.”
Well, Bubba, turns out there’s one more you can add to the list: Mustang Mach-E shrimp.
Ford has publicized that the frunk, or front trunk, of its all-new EV, the Mach-E, is built to be used as a cooler. It has a drainage hole at the bottom and a plastic liner, and with 4.8 cubic feet—or 36 gallons—of storage, it’s big enough to hold a carry-on-size suitcase or 1000 chicken wings, according to the manufacturer.
Ford released images of the Mach-E’s frunk filled with shrimp on ice, and another of it topped off with chicken wings, expanding what we thought was possible with the front trunk. “Just fill the front trunk with ice and beverages and cruise right up to your tailgate,” the press release reads.
Unfortunately, you’ll have to wait until late 2020, once deliveries begin, to roll up to a tailgate party with your frunk filled with, well, it seems that you can fill it with whatever you want.
