One of the leading scooter manufacturers in India, Suzuki Motorcycle India, has just taken the wraps off e-Access, their maiden electric scooter, and the updated Access 125 ICE scooter. By unveiling these vehicles, Suzuki has demonstrated its unwavering commitment to Indian market and the country’s electric journey.
Suzuki e-Access
e-Access is Suzuki’s maiden electric scooter that has just debuted. It follows a new design language, which is a slight departure from what we have been seeing with Access brand. There’s a sleeker design language with LED headlights at the front along with a vertical LED bar that acts as a DRL.
Turn indicators are mounted at the bottom of the front apron and are populated by halogen bulbs. Overall design looks like it was designed to cut through air, for superior aero performance. There’s a fully digital colour TFT instrument cluster that will be loaded with a lot of features.
e-Access also gets a smart key for keyless function, LED tail lights, alloy wheels, front disc brakes, charging port behind front apron and more. Powering this scooter is an LFP battery that has enough capacity for 95 km of promised range. Top speed of Suzuki e-Access is 71 km/h. There are three riding modes with a reverse mode.
Updated Access 125
At the same stage, Suzuki also launched the new and updated Access 125 for starting price of Rs 81,700 (Ex-sh). This is a much-awaited update that brings it to modern times. Keeping this scooter updated to cater to evolving buyer trends is crucial as it is company’s highest-selling product.
Where design is concerned, Suzuki has done a lot of cleanup. The headlights are now sleeker for a modern appearance. Size of front turn indicators is reduced too, which looks better. There’s a new ‘U’ shaped element on the front apron. Side body panels now get more cuts and creases to lend a muscular appeal. Fuel lid cover can now be opened remotely.
Suzuki is promising Euro 5+ emission configuration, improved low and mid range torque, quieter engine start up, improved mileage by 1.4% and a rear brake lock system. Underseat storage is increased to 24.4L now and the company promises better connectivity with smartphones to show weather and calendar info.
