- The Buick Enclave has been refreshed for 2022 with a restyled exterior and a tweaked center console with a push-button shifter.
- A host of previously optional driver-assistance features will now be standard across the lineup, including automated emergency braking, pedestrian detection, and automatic high-beam headlamps.
- The upscale Avenir trim benefits from interior enhancements intended to make Buick’s biggest SUV feel more luxurious, although it’s still not in BMW or Mercedes territory.
Buick has given its flagship SUV a host of enhancements and upgraded its styling for 2022, and the result is a sleeker look and improved value. New headlamps and taillamps, reworked front and rear bumpers, and updated wheel designs give the three-row family hauler a more modern look. Inside, the center console has been tweaked and now features a push-button shifter that’s similar to that in the smaller Envision crossover.
The fanciest Avenir trim gets even fancier this year, thanks to new quilted leather upholstery, updated wood trim, and massaging front seats with heat and ventilation. All Avenir models also wear unique wheels, a special grille insert, and body-colored lower trim panels.
More driver-assist features are standard now, including previously optional technologies such as automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, and automatic high-beam headlamps. To aid in parking, the Enclave now also comes with rear parking sensors and rear cross-traffic alert as standard. Adaptive cruise control remains optional.
To keep up with the times, the Enclave’s standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto can now operate wirelessly. Other changes are minimal, and the Enclave retains its 310-hp 3.6-liter V-6 engine and nine-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, with all-wheel drive optional.
The Enclave’s updated styling and feature enhancements increase its desirability as a three-row family crossover, but its Avenir trim still doesn’t offer enough luxury or panache to outdo SUV offerings from BMW and Mercedes-Benz. However, its premium intentions and value-oriented pricing put it on a good footing to challenge rival crossovers such as the Cadillac XT6 and the Infiniti QX60.
