TVS has finally launched the much awaited disc brake variant of Jupiter scooter in India. Offered with the ZX variant, Jupiter disc brake is priced from Rs 69,052 ex-showroom, Delhi. Disc brake enhances rider safety as it offers a much better braking performance as compared to disc brake.
New Jupiter ZX Disc comes with ‘i-TOUCHstart’ system; a technology that offers silent and instant start without the effort of cranking. This is an updated electric start technology that will go a long way in enhancing battery life. It is especially helpful in countries like ours, considering the heavy traffic situation. This system is best suited for start/stop traffic.
Powering the Jupiter ZX Disc brake is the same 110 cc single cylinder petrol BS6 engine which powers the other Jupiter variants. This engine delivers 7.5 bhp and 8.4 Nm torque. TVS Jupiter ZX gets EcoThrust Fuel injection technology with i-TOUCH start which delivers 15 percent better mileage and stability. The engine is mated to a CVT automatic transmission. The scooter uses high rigidity underbone type frame and suspension is via telescopic hydraulic suspension in the front and 3 step adjustable shocks at the rear. It sits on 12 inch alloy wheels as standard.
Features
Body colour options include Matte Starlight Blue, Starlight Blue and Royal Wine. On board features see an all in one lock for ignition, steering lock and seat lock and also to operate the fuel tank cap. It allows the rider access to all functions easily while it gets an LED headlamp, 2 liter glove box, mobile charger among its features. TVS Motors claims that this variant is in line with the company’s policy to offer best in class features to its customers.
The TVS Jupiter has been one of the company’s more successful products. It has played a major role in enhancing the company’s market share. The scooter was updated to comply with BS6 emission standards in November 2019 but the disc brake variant was not on offer till today. TVS Jupiter is presently available in four variants namely Base, ZX Drum, ZX Disc and Classic.
In July, TVS Motors increased prices of the Jupiter scooter by Rs.1,040. This new price hike follows a similar hike in June by Rs.651 which now puts the Jupiter base variant at Rs.63,102 as against an earlier pricing of Rs.62,062. For July 2020, sales of Jupiter stood at 48,995 units, which is a decline of 15% as compared to July 2019 sales.
