Here's a Look at the Lucid Air You're Not Supposed to See Yet

  • In the leaked photo is the back of Lucid’s top Air Dream variant with all the bells and whistles.
  • The photo is looking into Lucid’s new showroom in Newark, California.
  • The Air is going into production by the end of the year.

Ahead of its unveiling in April at the New York auto show, the Lucid Air was shown off last week to deposit holders (and Car and Driver) at the company’s new showroom in Newark, California. The company prohibited photography as not to spoil the premiere in the Big Apple. But that didn’t stop someone from leaking this photo to us, taken outside the building.

The photo shows the back of the vehicle with its single continuous light bar and shallow trunk lid. We also see the silver line that links the pillars and frames the canopy roof. We have already seen many of these design elements on the automaker’s beta vehicles and the front thanks to a shadowy teaser video, so don’t expect anything that deviates too far from what we’ve already seen from the automaker.

With a claimed top range of more than 400 miles, it seems like the vehicle is targeting the Tesla Model S. But the company says it’s actually more focused on competing with German luxury sedans. The entry-level Lucid Air will start at $60,000 and should be available in 2021.
