- The Europe-spec Ford Transit van is now available with a Trail package that adds a Raptor-style front grille.
- The Trail model also gets extra body cladding and different wheels.
- Ford offers all-wheel drive in the 2020 Transit in the U.S., but the company hasn’t said whether or not the Trail package will be available here.
Looking for a little Raptor flavor in your full-size cargo van? Ford has obliged by adding an off-road Trail package to the Europe-market Transit van that’s replete with a Raptor-style front grille displaying the Ford logo in chunky letters.
Available for both the full-size transit and the smaller Transit Custom, which we don’t get in the U.S., the Trail package is mostly for show. In addition to the grille, the Trail also gets extra body cladding, different wheels, and special badges, along with leather upholstery inside. The Transit’s AWD system, an option that also joined the U.S. Transit lineup for 2020, also has a Mud/Rut drive mode and an AWD Lock mode that splits power evenly between the front and rear axles. The Transit Custom Trail is FWD-only but comes with a limited-slip differential.
We reached out to Ford to see if the Transit Trail will be offered in the U.S. eventually, but there hasn’t been any official announcement yet. We’d stop short of calling it a full Transit Raptor, but the grille is a good start.
