FCA Recalls 318,000 2019, 2020 Vehicles for Display Issues

  • FCA has recalled more than 318,000 of its 2019 and 2020 model year vehicles due to display issues, including Ram, Dodge, Chrysler, and Jeep models.
  • In the affected vehicles, a software error can lead to the backup image being displayed after the vehicle is no longer in reverse.
  • FCA will begin notifying owners May 22.

Fiat Chrysler has issued a recall for 318,537 of its popular models built in 2019 and 2020, including vehicles from Ram, Dodge, Chrysler, and Jeep. A software error in the vehicles can lead to the displays projecting the backup camera image even after the vehicles are shifted out of reverse, according to a filing with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The affected vehicles are equipped with 8.4- or 12.4-inch infotainment displays and include the 2019 and 2020 Chrysler Pacifica, 2019 Dodge Challenger, 2019 and 2020 Dodge Durango, 2019 and 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee, Renegade, and Wrangler, 2020 Jeep Cherokee and Gladiator, and 2019 and 2020 Ram 1500, 2500, and 3500 pickups.

The software error means the vehicles are not in compliance with a federal safety standard. FCA will be notifying owners beginning May 22 and in the meantime can check the NHTSA recall site to see if their vehicle is involved. Dealers will update software free of charge on affected vehicles to rid it of the error.
