Even though all of McLaren’s 600LT Spider droptop variants have been sold in the United States, but McLaren Special Operations (MSO) isn’t done yet. MSO is producing 12 600LT Spiders in a limited spec inspired by a venomous spider—yes, an actual spider called Segestria Borealis. Could the notorious flame-spitting McLaren spit venom now? Well, probably not, but one can dream, right?
The Napier Green stripes on the MSO 600LT Spiders are meant to mimic the green fangs on the Segestria Borealis spider. They run from the front of the car all the way back to the top exit exhaust pipes. There are also weblike patterns on the mirrors and rear wing in the same acid-green color. As is the case with most MSO-exclusive paints, this special 600LT’s color is mesmerizing. The Borealis Black MSO Defined paint features deep green and purple undertones that reflect in different lighting situations. In addition to the gorgeous paint job, the dozen MSO 600LT Spiders are equipped with 10-spoke gloss black wheels with MSO Bespoke Napier Green brake calipers to accent the graphics.
All of the special-edition cars are equipped with the MSO Clubsport package, which includes carbon-fiber racing seats, carbon-fiber interior trim, titanium wheel bolts, and an MSO gloss carbon-fiber front fender. The acid green is carried over into the interior on the stitching and web design on the Alcantara-trimmed racing seats and headrest.
These special-edition 600LT Spiders are still powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V-8 that spins up 592 horsepower and 457 lb-ft of torque. McLaren claims a zero-to-60-mph time of 2.8 seconds, and the 600LT is also the sixth-fastest car we’ve lapped around Virginia International Raceway at our annual Lightning Lap test.
The McLaren 600LT Spider Segestria Borealis is now available for order through select McLaren dealers for $278,000—that’s $19,000 more than a standard 600LT Spider, but of course this one includes the venom.
