MV Agusta motorcycles in India receive huge discounts for existing MotoRoyale stocks.

MV Agusta motorcycles in India get massive discounts as a result of ending the partnership with MotoRoyale group; an indirect effect of Norton Motorcycles going into administration in the UK. MotoRoyale is the dealership network under which the Italian brand, MV Agusta had been selling its products in the country. Prior to this, five premium motorcycle brands have been operating in India under MotoRoyale: MV Agusta, Norton, FB Mondial, SWM and Hyosung.

MotoRoyale (or more popularly known as Kinetic MotoRoyale), the one-of-a-kind multi-brand superbike sales network, was started back in May 2016 in Pune with MV Agusta as the first exclusive marque. Hence, Indian motorcycle enthusiasts have associated the group with the Italian brand from the very start.

All the brands under MotoRoyale (except Hyosung) cater to a niche audience who wish to own something much more exclusive than the ‘regular’ premium offerings. This fact is quite evident in any MotoRoyale product; be it in terms of design, exclusivity, global image or pricing (which is much higher than a similar-spec alternative from the likes of Yamaha, Honda, Kawasaki, BMW Motorrad or Ducati).

The chain of troubles started when Norton Motorcycles failed to pay a tax bill and ended up with a winding-up or liquidation order under the UK government’s insolvency law. The financial turmoil delayed a joint project by Norton Motorcycles and Kinetic MotoRoyale, under which a 650cc middleweight motorcycle (650 Atlas) was planned to be manufactured for India as well as some Southeast-Asian markets.

The main highlight of the joint venture was a 30,000-unit manufacturing facility in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra; of which construction had already started. The project was a relief for many potential buyers of MotoRoyale products (especially the ones from MV Agusta) since the prices could have had gone down by a good margin.

In India, MV Agusta mainly sells four models: Brutale 800, Dragster 800 RR, Turismo Veloce 800 and F3 800. Ex-showroom prices start at around Rs 15 lakh and go all the way up to Rs 22 lakh. At one point, the top-of-the-line limited-production MV Agusta F4 RC was also on sale in India. With an ex-showroom cost of around Rs 50 lakh (on-road: more than Rs 60 lakh), there is only one example of the F4 RC in the country. With the current confusion in business and finance, you may find a good deal for the standard motorcycle range at one of the seven Kinetic MotoRoyale outlets across the country.
