Hero MotoCorp, the country’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer, opens its facilities after a 43 day halt following Government orders to shut all factories and offices in the country on 22nd March 2020 in the wake of the spread of coronavirus pandemic.

The company has stated that production commences at three of its factories in Gurgaon, Dharuhera and Haridwar from Wednesday while it will also restart its global parts center in Neemrana.

Having received permissions to restart factories in Gujarat and Karnataka, these plants will commence operations only after the entire supply chain network is in order. As these plants go ahead with production, the company is putting the safety of its employees above all else and taking necessary safety precautions.

These stringent safety precautions were made known to the employees via emails and webinars and only essential staff will be called to work so as to maintain social distancing and all other safety measures. The rest of the employees will continue to work from home as they have been doing over the past several weeks. Pregnant women and employees above the age of 60 will continue to work from home.

The guidelines for employees seek that each of them downloads the Aarogya Setu app and the Hero App with daily updates. This Aarogya Setu app is programmed to alert the user if there is any person infected by COVID-19 in the vicinity. The app has crossed 75 million downloads and uses Bluetooth technology along with algorithms and artificial intelligence with location generation social graphs.

All employees of Hero MotoCorp will also have to wear masks, face shields and maintain social distancing at all times and attendance will be via the Hero App. Regular sanitization of personal items will be mandatory and even buses and official vehicles will be sanitized after each trip. The company will not permit any domestic or international travel while there will be no celebrations or business meetings and no visitors, vendors or dealers will be allowed onto the factory premises.
