- Upcoming EQ models include the EQA and EQB crossovers, the EQS and EQE sedans, and SUV derivatives of the EQE and EQS.
- The EQS and EQS will be the first to go on sale, in 2021, with other models to follow.
The EQ lineup of electric Mercedes models will parallel the automaker’s conventional gas-powered lineup, with vehicles roughly equivalent to the S-class, E-class, and other familiar Benzes. In addition to the EQC, EQS, and EQA models that have already been confirmed, Mercedes has now shared that EQE, EQB, and SUV versions of the EQS and EQE are all in the pipeline. Even the G-wagen will eventually gain an electric variant, possibly called EQG, though that name has yet to be confirmed.
As with the S-class sedan and GLS-class SUV, the EQS (top, right) and EQS SUV will be the flagships of the range. The EQS sedan will arrive first, going on sale next year, and the SUV version will follow. The EQE (top, center) and EQE SUV (top, left) will be roughly equivalent to the E-class and GLE-class.
Two compact models will sit at the more affordable end of the spectrum, with the EQA roughly mirroring the GLA-class in size and scope. We don’t know as much about the newly confirmed EQB, but it will likely either be an MPV-style small hatchback in the vein of the Europe-market B-class or a boxier crossover like the GLB-class.
It remains to be seen if the EQS or EQA will beat the delayed EQC to market. Meant to be the first EQ model, this compact crossover was revealed way back in 2018. It was originally set to go on sale in the U.S. this year but its arrival in the U.S. has been pushed back until 2021.
