- Expect to see the 2020 RS Q8 in dealers soon, as it arrived in Europe early this year.
The 2020 Audi RS Q8 is the first RS-spec Audi SUV to make its way to U.S. shores, and it’ll start at $113,995. While that might sound like a serious amount of dough for an SUV, keep in mind that it’s just under $100,000 less expensive than the Lamborghini Urus, which uses a more powerful version of the group’s 4.0-liter engine, and it’s currently the fastest SUV around the Nürburgring with a time of 7 minutes and 42 seconds.
For the new folks, RS is Audi’s high-performance subsidiary. The RS stands for Renn Sport, or racing. The RS Q8 is powered by a 591-hp 4.0-liter V-8, and all that power is sent to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission and Audi’s Quattro all-wheel-drive system. Additionally, all RS Q8s come standard with an adaptive air suspension and all-wheel steering.
The 591-hp Audi SUV is on the more affordable end compared with its primary competitors. Is there anything with a lower price? Just the 600-hp 2020 BMW X5 M, which starts at $106,095.
Next up is the 603-hp 2021 Mercedes-AMG GLE63 S, starting at $114,945, followed by the 575-hp 2020 Land Rover Range Rover Sport SVR at $115,795, and finally, the 670-hp 2020 Porsche Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid, which starts at $163,150.
The 2020 RS Q8, which goes on sale in Europe first, will arrive in the U.S. this spring and is claimed to reach 60 mph in 3.6 seconds, with a top speed of 190 mph.
