The 150cc to 200cc motorcycle segment in India recorded total sales of 1,45,968 units in November 2024, marking a 12.49% decline compared to 1,66,803 units in November 2023. While a few models showed growth, most experienced significant drops in sales, reflecting challenges in this competitive segment.

TVS Apache led the segment with 35,610 units sold, accounting for a 24.40% market share, though it recorded a 13.20% year-on-year (YoY) decline with 5,415 fewer units sold than the previous year. Bajaj Pulsar followed in second place with 32,997 units, holding a 22.61% market share but witnessing a steep 30.27% drop, losing 14,323 units YoY.

Honda Unicorn emerged as the standout performer, registering an impressive 52.28% YoY growth with 30,678 units sold, securing a 21.02% market share. This significant growth highlights the increasing popularity of the Unicorn in the commuter segment. Yamaha FZ claimed the fourth spot with 14,406 units, though it saw an 11.25% decline, while Yamaha MT15 managed a modest 8.25% growth, selling 9,894 units and securing a 6.78% share. Yamaha R15 recorded 7,105 units, but its sales dropped sharply by 36.96% YoY.

Honda SP160 also faced a significant decline of 39.08%, selling 4,453 units, likely because of Honda launching 2025 model recently. KTM 200 showed relative stability with 2,726 units sold, a marginal 1.84% drop. Hero Xtreme 160R/200 sold 2,493 units, a 6.10% decline, while Hero XPulse 200 recorded a notable 33.04% growth, selling 1,933 units. Bajaj Avenger and Honda CB200X struggled with 1,024 and 941 units sold, reflecting YoY declines of 25.20% and 24.11%, respectively. Honda Hornet 2.0 saw a significant 71.69% drop, selling just 910 units compared to 3,214 last year. Suzuki Gixxer’s sales fell sharply by 55.83%, recording 728 units, while the Kawasaki W175 showed a dramatic growth of 2,233.33%, albeit with just 70 units sold.

The 150cc to 200cc motorcycle segment experienced a sharp decline in month-on-month (MoM) sales in November 2024. Total sales dropped by 18.91%, with 1,45,968 units sold compared to 1,80,003 units in October 2024—a decrease of 34,035 units. Most models saw significant drops, reflecting post-festive season corrections and market dynamics. TVS Apache retained its position as the segment leader with 35,610 units, but it faced a substantial 28.92% decline, losing 14,487 units compared to October. Bajaj Pulsar, with 32,997 units sold, experienced a smaller drop of 9.19%, while Honda Unicorn, at 30,678 units, recorded a slight 3.43% decline, maintaining relative stability in third place.

Among Yamaha’s offerings, the FZ saw a 19.40% decline to 14,406 units, while the MT15 dropped 26.19%, selling 9,894 units. The R15 recorded the steepest fall among Yamaha’s models, with a 37.94% decline to 7,105 units, losing 4,344 units compared to October. Honda SP160 also saw a significant dip of 15.57%, selling 4,453 units. Premium models like the KTM 200 dropped by 32.32%, with sales declining to 2,726 units. However, Hero Xtreme 160R/200 showed a positive trend, growing 7.18% to 2,493 units. The Hero XPulse 200 remained stable with 1,933 units, recording only a marginal 1.58% decline.

In the entry-level premium segment, Bajaj Avenger and Honda CB200X recorded declines of 24.76% and 4.66%, selling 1,024 and 941 units, respectively. Honda Hornet 2.0 saw a significant 27.72% drop, with 910 units sold. Suzuki Gixxer faced the sharpest decline in the segment, losing 59.87% of its sales to settle at just 728 units. On the other hand, Kawasaki W175 showed a minor improvement, growing 14.75% with 70 units sold.
