Along with the MG Cyberster EV, the company has also showcased the M9 luxury electric MPV at the ongoing 2025 Auto Expo. Both these models will be opened for bookings soon and will be on sale via exclusive dealerships called “MG Select”. Pre-bookings for both vehicles have opened via the company’s official website.

MG Motor currently sells 7 models in India. Among these are the Hector, Hector Plus, Astor, Gloster, Comet EV, ZS EV, and Windsor EV. The new Cyberster and M9 further expand the company’s electric offerings, especially diversifying into the luxury segment. In global markets, the MG M9 is presented in two variants – Trophy and Grand trophy.

For India, M9 is exclusively offered in an all-electric format with a 90kWh battery pack. MG M9 is being offered in both 6 and 7-seater options. It measures 5,270 mm in length, 2,000 mm in width, and 1,840 mm in height with a wheelbase of 3,200mm thus making it the longest full-size electric MPV in India giving it a strong road presence.

Design highlights include a closed-off front grille with trapezoidal air vents, vertically positioned LED headlamps and LED DRLs in a distinctive design with a connected light bar. It also gets sliding scissor doors as are also seen on the Cyberster, chrome accents and rides on 19-inch alloy wheels.

6 & 7 Seat Layouts

Silver body side cladding along with silver accents on its windows add to a more premium appeal while towards the rear, connected LED tail lamps are seen along with a chrome-finished rear bumper accent. The interiors spell even more luxury and cabin comforts for both driver and passengers.

Seen in a 6 and 7-seater layout, the new M9 is seen with a beige/tan colour theme, second-row captain seats with 8 massage functions, 3 zone climate controls and a large dual panoramic sunroof. The display comprises a total of three screens, one of which is for the instrument cluster, another for the infotainment system and a third display is exclusive for the front passenger.

A 12-speaker sound system, storage spaces and wireless phone charging pad are also among its interior highlights. Where safety is concerned, the MG M9 gets a host of equipment. These include a total of 7 airbags, electronic stability control, front and rear parking sensors with a 360-degree camera.

In keeping with its advanced safety, the new MG M9 also sports Level-2 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) among which features include adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist and forward collision avoidance assist, etc.

MG M9 MPV India Debut – Powertrain Options

MG M9 draws its power via a 90 kWh battery pack offering a WLTP-certified range of 430 kms. It also gets a single electric motor offering 244 hp power and 350 Nm torque. It is offered with a front wheel drive train and is compatible with 125 kW DC fast charging allowing a charge from 30-80% in 30 minutes.

Where rivalry is concerned, the MG M9 will take on the Kia Carnival while it will also pose some threat to the Toyota Vellfire and Lexus LM. Even though no prices have been announced, an expected price tag of around Rs. 65 lakh (ex-showroom) is what can be expected. It will go on sale in March 2025 and pre-bookings have already commenced.
