Like most other two-wheeler makers in India, TVS Motor Company too ended the past year on a dismal note. The company recorded monthly two-wheeler domestic sales at 2,15,047 units in December 2024. This was a very marginal growth of 0.03% as against 2,14,988 units sold in December 2023. The company, however, suffered a steep decline by 29.55% on a month-on-month (MoM) basis from 3,05,265 unit sales in Nov 2024. This is related to a 90,218 unit dip in volumes.
TVS Sales Breakup Dec 2024
A breakup of sales on a YoY and MoM basis shows most models suffering lower demand. As is seen each month, TVS Jupiter scooter once again topped sales charts scaling over all other models by a significant margin. Jupiter sales stood at 88,668 units in the past month, a 48.93% YoY growth from 59,538 units sold in Dec 2023.
Jupiter with a 41.23% share in the company lineup also commanded a No. 2 position on the list of best-selling scooters in India, after the Honda Activa. Sales, however, declined on a MoM basis by 11.07% from 99,710 units sold in Nov 2024. TVS XL suffered a 13.58% YoY and 27.94% MoM decline in demand with 33,092 units sold last month. It contributed 15.39% to company’s overall sales.
Also witnessing both YoY and MoM de-growth was the Apache range with 20,885 unit sales in the past month. This was a marginal 2.89% YoY and a massive 41.35% MoM decline over sales in Dec 2023 and Nov 2024. In higher demand was TVS iQube electric scooter of which the company sold 20,009 units in Dec 2024.
This related to a 78.09% YoY improvement from 11,232 unit sales of Dec 2023. Its MoM sales, however, fell by 22.11% as compared to 25,681 units sold in Nov 2024. Share in the company portfolio showed a sharp improvement from 8.41% held in Nov 2024 to 9.30% in the past month. TVS Motor also showed off the TVS iQube ST concept at the 2025 Auto Expo.
TVS Raider and Ntorq Sales Decline YoY and MoM
Lower down the sale list TVS Raider and Ntorq suffered serious setbacks. Raider sales dipped 55.75% YoY and 45.06% on a MoM basis to 17,454 units. There had been 39,443 units and 31,769 units sold in Dec 2023 and Nov 2024 respectively.
TVS Ntorq too had undergone lower sales by 20.53% YoY and 43.82% MoM with just 14,981 unit sales in Dec 2024. Radeon (6,481 units), Sport (5,068 units) and Zest (4,386 unit) also suffered lower YoY and MoM demand. Each of these models experienced a more severe decline on a MoM basis.
Breaking this dismal sales performance seen across most bikes in the TVS lineup was TVS Ronin. This 225cc cruiser bike has seen improved demand by as much as 52.78% on a YoY basis to 2,035 unit sales in Dec 2024 from 1,332 unit sales of Dec 2023. Its MoM sales however suffered a 36.41% decline over 3,200 units sold in Nov 2024. The 2025 Ronin was also on display at the Auto Expo earlier this month with launch promised by March this year.
Star City sales were down 35.78% YoY and 40.41% MoM to 1,793 units. There was also the Apache 310, TVS’s flagship motorcycle that accounted for a sharp decline in sales to just 201 units in Dec 2024 down by 57.51% over 473 units sold in Dec 2023. It was also a 56.02% MoM de-growth from 457 unit sales of Nov 2024.
