- As it has done after previous natural disasters, Toyota is offering payment assistance to victims of hurricanes Laura and Isaias, the California wildfires, and the Midwest derecho.
- Payment assistance is available to customers of Toyota Financial Services or Lexus Financial Services, and it includes payment extensions or lease payment deferrals.
- The California wildfires have displaced nearly 200,000 people, and cumulatively, the natural disasters have left over a million without power. Climate experts say the hurricanes and wildfires have been worsened by climate change.
UPDATE 8/31/2020: Ford also announced that it is offering similar support to victims of Hurricane Laura, the Midwest Derecho, or the California wildfires. Customers of Ford or Lincoln Financial services should contact their respective lender for details.
Toyota announced today that people who are affected by ongoing natural disasters—including Hurricane Laura or Isaias, the Midwest derecho, and the California wildfires—across the country can receive payment relief on a vehicle they are currently paying off or leasing. As of earlier this week, the California wildfires had displaced nearly 200,000 people, and all three natural disasters have left over a million without electricity.
The payment relief is for any customer with loans or leases in effect from Toyota Financial Services or Lexus Financial Services, and it can come in the form of extending or deferring payments, redirecting billing statements, and arranging phone or online payments. The automaker said that customers should contact their original lender to arrange for accommodation. Toyota previously offered a payment relief program during natural disasters in 2016 and in 2018.
