The twin-cylinder Ducati Panigale V2 supersports motorcycle will be launched in India “very soon”
Italian motorcycle manufacturer Ducati has announced that bookings for its Panigale V2 supersports model are open for a token amount of Rs 1,00,000. Once launched, it will be the first Ducati product to attain BS6 emission norms.
Ducati India has not shared the exact launch date of the Panigale V2 but has confirmed that it will happen “very soon”; possibly in a week or two. In most markets, the Ducati Panigale V2 brides the gap between a traditional faired middleweight and a litre-class product.
Test drives will begin shortly after its launch under the brand’s ‘Ducati Cares’ initiative that promises effective safety practices against COVID-19 pandemic. At the moment, Ducati India has outlets in nine cities: Delhi NCR, Kolkata, Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai and Kochi. Almost all Ducati models sold in the country are manufactured in Thailand.
Slimmer than the Panigale V4
Bipul Chandra, Managing Director of Ducati India, states that the Panigale V2 is one of the most awaited premium BS6 motorcycles in the country. It is a “beefy yet compact bike” sporting classic Ducati superbike DNA and impressive performance. He further added that the company has received an overwhelming number of inquires for the motorcycle. Hence, Ducati India expects class-leading sales for the Panigale V2 in the months to come.
Ducati Panigale V2 Overview
The Ducati Panigale V2 is essentially the successor to the brand’s phased-out Panigale 959. It employs the same 955cc Superquardro V-twin engine with significant revisions. The power plant churns out 153bhp @ 10,750rpm and 104Nm @ 9,000rpm. This is roughly 5bhp and 2Nm up from the BS4-compliant Panigale 959. Meanwhile, the bigger Ducati Panigale V4 is powered by a 1,103cc Desmosedici Stradale V4 mill good for 211bhp @ 13,000rpm and 124Nm @ 10,000rpm.

Ducati Panigale V2 – Instrument console
Upon first glance, the Panigale V2 looks identical to its four-cylinder sibling despite being much narrower in size. However, it gets a compact and stubby exhaust system. Notable features include a 4.3-inch instrument console, bi-directional quickshifter, wheelie control, traction control, cornering ABS, six-axis IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit), ‘active safety and dynamic control’, three riding modes (Race, Sport and Street), etc.
Expected Pricing
Considering its output and features, one can expect prices to start from around Rs 15 lakh. In comparison, the Panigale V4 (yet to receive BS6 update) carried a starting price tag of almost Rs 21 lakh while the Panigale 959 cost Rs 14 lakh. All prices mentioned here are ex-showroom.
