Here Are All the Shelby Parts on the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach 1

  • Ford has just revealed the 2021 Mustang Mach 1, and on it are a bunch of track-focused upgrades from the high-performance Shelby GT350 and GT500 Mustangs.
  • The Mach 1’s 480-hp V-8 is equipped with the GT350’s intake manifold, oil-filter adapter, and oil cooling system.
  • The optional handling package is fitted with the GT500’s rear spoiler with Gurney flap.

The Ford Mustang Mach 1 is back for 2021 after a 17-year hiatus, and it’s essentially a Mustang Bullitt with some track-focused upgrades from the high-performance Shelby GT350 and GT500 models on it. Inside and out, here are all of the Shelby components that are slapped onto the 2021 Mustang Mach 1:

From the Shelby GT350

The Mach 1’s 5.0-liter V-8 produces 480 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque—the same output as the Bullitt—and it’s equipped with the GT350’s intake manifold, oil-filter adapter, and oil cooling system. The six-speed manual transmission from the GT350 is standard, and it now has auto rev matching. Even better, the Mach 1’s shift knob is the same retro white cue ball as the Bullitt. A 10-speed automatic transmission is available, but that’s less fun.

Up front, you’ll see incandescent park and turn lamps taken from the GT350 as well as its lower front vents, which cool the engine and transmission. The Mach 1 also gets the GT350’s front and rear subframe with stiffer bushings. On the available Handling package, which gets things such as adjustable front strut top-mounts and an even higher-downforce front splitter, the Mach 1 is equipped with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires from the GT350R.

From the Shelby GT500

Out back, the Mach 1 borrows the 760-hp Shelby GT500’s rear tire spats and lower diffuser, and it gets the GT500’s rear axle cooling system and rear toe link. Opt for the Handling package, and you’ll get the GT500’s standard rear spoiler with Gurney flap—not the massive exposed carbon GT4 track wing from the GT500’s carbon-fiber track pack.

The 2021 Ford Mustang Mach 1 is slated to arrive in spring 2021 with an expected starting price around $50,000. The 526-hp Mustang Shelby GT350 starts at $61,535 and the 760-hp GT500 starts at $73,995, so the Mach 1 is shaping up to be a great performance bargain.
