Production of the mid-engine C8 Corvette was supposed to start in late 2019, but due to the UAW strikes, it was delayed until now. Today Chevy has announced that the first production-ready 2020 Corvette has rolled off the line at its plant in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
For those who ordered one and have been patiently waiting for their C8 to arrive, the wait is almost over. Chevrolet says that initial deliveries will begin late this month or in early March. We can’t wait to start seeing the first-ever mid-engine Corvette on the roads.

We said, “If you’re under 40, the Corvette isn’t an old man’s car for the first time in your life.” Even though its engine is mid-mounted and its performance has been taken to new heights, it’s still powered by a naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V-8, for now.
The C8 launched to 60 mph in 2.8 seconds during our testing, making it a serious contender against much pricier choices such as the McLaren 570S/GT and the Audi R8. It also impressed with a quarter-mile time of 11.2 seconds at 122 mph. It’s even EPA rated for 27 mpg on the highway. All this mind-boggling performance can be had for $59,995, and the cars capable of all of it will be out on the roads soon.
