- New colors, upgraded materials, and redesigned features are in store for Airstream’s Flying Cloud and International models for 2021.
- Both trailer models offer traditional Airstream luxury amenities but now feature modernized kitchen sinks and faucets, fresh upholstery options, and new cabinets.
- The Flying Cloud is the brand’s most popular seller and is offered in 14 different floor plans for 2021; the International is more luxurious and is offered in 12 floor plans.
RVs, campers, and motorhomes are having a moment thanks to newly restricted summer travel plans, and Airstream is poised to strike at the upper end of the market with updates to its core Flying Cloud and International models. For 2021, both trailers receive an interior makeover that aims at improving usability and elevating the air of luxury.
Both models receive new overhead storage cabinets with the Flying Cloud receiving glossy cream-colored doors while the International gets sliding panels made from reflective laminate. The kitchens both receive updated fixtures, and larger, square-shaped sinks replace last year’s rounded ones. Blackout bedroom curtains are now standard in both models.
Flying Cloud models can now be ordered with Carolina Clay (beige) or Seattle Mist (dark gray) faux-leather upholstery while the International can be had with Aqua (blue-green) or Seashell (tan). Both trailers receive updated bedding, pillowcases, and curtain fabrics as well as Corian countertops and new flooring options.
In addition to interior upgrades, both models offer greater availability of the novel rear hatch door, which opens the rear of the trailer up for al fresco dining or simply for another point of entry for vacationing families.
These two models represent the heart of the lineup for the luxury travel-trailer manufacturer, and each one is offered in many floor plans to allow buyers flexibility to suit their needs. The Flying Cloud–Airstream’s top-selling model–offers 14 different layouts, including models as long as 30 feet with beds for up to eight. The International offers 12 floor plans with beds for up to six.
As the nation continues to grapple with the fallout from the coronavirus pandemic, many Americans are scrapping plans for flights and hotel vacations in favor of road trips, camping excursions, and other options deemed safer than traveling with strangers. Last month, we reported that recreational vehicle rental company RVShare noted a 650 percent increase in demand for its trailers and motorhomes.
For those who think renting is still risky, purchasing their own home away from home that can be towed or driven to new locations every weekend may be an alluring idea. And when it comes to travel trailers, none are more alluring than the iconic stainless-steel Airstream. The 2021 Flying Cloud starts at $78,900 while the International starts at $91,900, and both are available now for pre-order at Airstream dealers nationwide.
