2025 Bajaj Chetak Electric Scooter Spied Ahead of Launch on 20th Dec

2025 Bajaj Chetak Electric Scooter SpiedRajiv Bajaj recently revealed that Chetak has become the No 1 selling electric scooter in India for Dec 2024
Bajaj is gearing up to launch the updated 2025 Chetak electric scooter on December 20, and fresh spy shots provide a closer look at what’s in store. Spotted testing near Bajaj’s Pune plant, the new Chetak hints at key updates, including a revamped design, potential new features, and improved performance. Latest spy shots are credited to automotive enthusiast Anvay Sheolikar.
New Chassis and Platform for Better Performance
The upcoming 2025 Bajaj Chetak is expected to utilize a brand-new platform with a lighter chassis. This move could enhance its handling, agility, and range. One noticeable change from the spy shots is the potential relocation of the battery pack to the floorboard area. This would result in improved weight distribution, lower center of gravity, and more stability during cornering, braking, and low-speed maneuvers.

The updated battery pack could also introduce better energy efficiency, higher capacity, and improved safety features. If so, the new Chetak could offer an extended range to compete with rivals like Ola S1, Ather 450X, and TVS iQube.
    Enhanced Storage and Practicality
Spy shots reveal that Bajaj may address a key concern with the current Chetak models—limited storage space. By relocating the battery, under-seat storage could be significantly improved, making it more practical for daily use. This change could align the Chetak with competitors that already offer larger storage compartments.

    Possible New Features
While the overall retro-modern styling remains intact, subtle design tweaks can be seen in the test units. The body panels showcase slight refinements, and new color options may be introduced to give buyers more choices. The rear section shows redesigned tail lamps with a sleeker LED pattern, adding a fresh touch to its appearance.

The instrument cluster might also receive an upgrade, potentially offering a more advanced display with features like smartphone connectivity and navigation. One of the test mules is wearing steel wheels, which is new for Chetak as all variants today are seen with alloys.
    Lower Pricing and Market Strategy
To widen its reach, Bajaj could introduce the new 2025 Chetak at a lower starting price, making it more competitive. As with the current model, multiple variants are expected, catering to diverse customer preferences. The existing Chetak lineup is priced between Rs 95,998 and Rs 1,28,744, depending on the variant. A more affordable base model for 2025 could further strengthen Bajaj’s position in the electric two-wheeler market.

Bajaj is positioning the 2025 Chetak as the “Best Chetak yet,” as teased in promotional materials. With their market share in electric scooter segment growing, the new Chetak aims to bolster its reputation as a reliable and stylish choice in the electric scooter segment.

Ola to Ola Hain, Chetak Shola Hain – Says Rajiv Bajaj, As Chetak Beats Ola In Sales

Rajiv Bajaj at the launch of Chetak electric scooter. File photo.Rajiv Bajaj Declares Chetak the Best-Selling Electric Scooter, Reiterates Faith in Legacy Brands Over New-Age EV Makers
In a significant milestone for Bajaj Auto, Rajiv Bajaj, Managing Director of the company, announced that their electric scooter, Chetak, has climbed to the top spot in the Indian electric scooter market. Speaking to CNBC-TV18, Bajaj shared that based on December VAHAN registration data, the Chetak has surpassed its competitors to become the best-selling electric scooter in the country.
    Bajaj Chetak Overtakes Ola
“CNBC-TV18 is very lucky for me… my son Rishabh, who has been part of the Electric Chetak team for the past 2.5 years, told me this morning that based on December VAHAN registration data, our electric scooter Chetak is now the largest-selling electric scooter, not third largest, in the country. So, the award could not be better timed,” said Bajaj.
This achievement comes as Bajaj Auto narrows the gap with Ola Electric, which had been holding the largest EV market share until November. Bajaj Auto and TVS Motor Company have been closing in on Ola’s lead in the fiercely competitive electric scooter market. Add to this, Bajaj is getting ready to launch new gen Chetak on 20th Dec.
A Playful Jibe at Ola Electric
While celebrating Chetak’s rise to the top, Bajaj couldn’t resist taking a playful dig at Ola Electric and its CEO, Bhavish Aggarwal. Commenting on the competitive landscape, Bajaj said, “Ola toh Ola hai, Chetak shola hai” — implying that while Ola remains a significant player, Chetak is a firebrand in the market.
Ola Electric, led by Bhavish Aggarwal, has been dominating the Indian electric scooter segment for months, but the gap between Ola and its rivals has been shrinking. Bajaj Auto’s success with Chetak, alongside TVS Motor Company’s performance, reflects an increasingly competitive landscape in India’s EV market.
A Proven Strategy: Betting on “BET” Over “OATS”
This latest development adds weight to Rajiv Bajaj’s earlier remarks where he dismissed new-age EV makers as “OATS”—a reference to Ola, Ather, Tork, and Simple—while expressing confidence in “BET”—Bajaj, Enfield, and TVS. Bajaj famously said he would bet on BET rather than OATS, and this statement seems to be ringing true in the current market scenario.
Ola Electric, which dominated the EV market until November, has registered declining sales, while Ather Energy is also witnessing challenges. Tork Motors is reportedly struggling for survival, and Simple Energy is still working on expanding its market reach. Meanwhile, legacy players like Bajaj and TVS have been steadily increasing their footprints by expanding dealerships and service networks, allowing them to gain an edge in the market.
    Expanding Networks and Market Share
Bajaj Auto and TVS Motor Company have been steadily expanding their dealership and service networks, enhancing accessibility for customers across India, particularly in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities where newer EV brands have faced challenges in establishing a foothold. Ola Electric, however, is not backing down. On December 20, the company plans to open 4,000 stores and service centers nationwide. Furthermore, Ola has ambitious plans for 2025, with multiple new product launches lined up, including electric motorcycles and electric rickshaws, signaling an intensifying competition in the EV market.

Bajaj To Launch The New Best Chetak Yet On 20th Dec – Official Teaser

2025 Bajaj Chetak Electric Scooter LaunchIn addition to a new chassis, upcoming new Chetak electric scooter can also get an improved battery pack
Bajaj Chetak electric scooter was a relatively slow starter at the time of its launch in 2020. However, with new models, price cuts, continuous improvements and network expansion, Chetak has emerged as the third best selling electric scooter in the country.
    2025 Bajaj Chetak model – What’s new?
It is expected that the new 2025 Chetak model will be utilizing an entirely new platform. This will be part of the continuous improvements that Bajaj has introduced for Chetak over the years. The primary idea is to introduce changes that improve Chetak’s competencies against rival offerings. Chetak takes on rivals such as Ola S1, Ather Rizta and TVS iQube. These rival electric scooters offer more practicality with their bigger storage space. With the new Chetak model, Bajaj may be looking to achieve something similar.
2025 Bajaj Chetak Electric Scooter Launch Teaser
Using an entirely new chassis, 2025 Bajaj Chetak is expected to be more lightweight. This will improve its performance as well as range. In the new platform, the battery pack could be moved under the floorboard. This will ensure that there’s ample space under the seat. With the battery pack placed under the floorboard, overall control and handling of the scooter will also improve. The lower centre of gravity will be beneficial while cornering, sudden braking and acceleration and manoeuvring the scooter at low speeds.
The battery pack could also be updated with a more advanced unit. It could be more energy efficient and safer as well. Assuming that a more advanced battery pack is used, the new Chetak could deliver a higher range. It is also possible that a higher capacity battery pack could be accommodated with the new platform. This too will boost performance and range.
    Bajaj Chetak Spied Testing
In the teaser, Bajaj claims that this will be the Best Chetak yet. They are also saying it will be Fully Lifeproof. With the upcoming 2025 Chetak model, Bajaj will be looking to further boost its market share in the electric two-wheeler segment. In October 2024, Chetak had a market share of 20.29%. That’s pretty close to the 21.50% market share of TVS iQube, the second best selling electric scooter.
    Lower pricing, improved styling?
To make Chetak more accessible, the new 2025 model could be launched at a lower price point. Just like the current model, there will be multiple variants of the new 2025 Chetak. The base variant could be made more affordable. As of now, the base 2903 variant of Bajaj Chetak with the 2.88 kWh battery pack is available at a starting price of Rs 95,998. Next is Chetak 3202, priced at Rs 1,15,018. The top variant 3201 is available at Rs 1,27,244. There’s a Special Edition version as well, priced at Rs 1,28,744.
Existing Chetak variants have a range of 123 to 137 km. Base variant has a top speed of 63 km/H, whereas the others are rated at 73 km/H. While the new 2025 Chetak will retain its classic design format in most parts, there could be some minor cosmetic adjustments. Some new colour options could also be introduced with the new Chetak electric scooter. More

Many electric two-wheeler brands such as Ola Electric and Ather have introduced affordable variants for consumers. One of the objectives is to reduce the adverse impact coming from reduction in government subsidies. It is to note that many states have completely stopped subsidies for EVs, as the allocated funds have been exhausted.Affordable EVs will make it easier for consumers to make the switch from ICE to electric. If ICE age were to end, the new breed of affordable electric two-wheelers would play a crucial role. Chetak Premium, Chetak Urbane, and Chetak 2901 have received approval for the Electric Mobility Promotion Scheme (EMPS) subsidy from the Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI). 2024 Bajaj Chetak Premium Spied At Dealer – More Range, TFT Dash

2024 Bajaj Chetak Premium Scooter – New DisplayWith new features and upgrades, Bajaj Chetak can compete better with rivals like Ola S1 Pro, TVS iQube and Ather 450XWhile Chetak is preferred for its reliability and durability, it is not necessarily perceived as a high-tech and high-performance machine. Probably, rivals are offering a more comprehensive range of features. Bajaj is looking to fix that with the new Chetak Premium version, scheduled to be launched on 5th January. Ahead of that, the new e-scooter has been spied at a dealership. Hat tip to automotive enthusiast Yash Parate for sharing the exclusive spy shots of the 2024 Chetak.Bajaj Chetak Premium – What’s new?Chetak is currently offered in Urbane and Premium variants. However, there aren’t any major differences between the two. As per the new strategy, the Urbane variant will be positioned as an affordable, entry-level electric scooter. On the other hand, the Premium version will be getting a comprehensive range of updates. As a result, the Premium version will be launched at a higher price point.2024 Bajaj Chetak Premium Scooter – New DisplayOne of the key updates is a new TFT instrument display. Users will be able to access functions such as calls, text and music. New Chetak Premium will also have a remote immobilization function and tyre pressure monitoring system.Riding modes are already available and will be carried forward. This may not be significant, but can still be useful for storing some small stuff.2024 Bajaj Chetak Premium ScooterBajaj Chetak Premium performance boostNew Chetak Premium variant will have better capabilities in comparison to the existing Urbane variant. One of the key upgrades is a larger 3.2 kWh battery pack. It has a certified range of 127 km, as per IDC standards. The existing model utilizes a 2.9 kWh battery pack, with a certified range of 108 km. True range or real-world range is also expected to improve with the new Chetak Premium variant. 2023 Bajaj Chetak Electric Scooter Launch Soon – 18 Km More Range

For MY2023, new Bajaj Chetak Premium homologated packs in similar numbers as before – 4.2 kW of peak power and 20 Nm of torqueBajaj Chetak Electric ScooterBajaj was one of the default choices in the scooter segment back in the day. Fast forward to 2023, Bajaj has 0 presence in the ICE scooter segment, after pulling the plug on Kristal DTSi 95cc. Bajaj made re-entry into the scooter segment with the launch of Chetak Electric scooter. In 2022, Bajaj managed to sell close to 30,000 units of Chetak in India. In 2023, that number is expected to double. But before that, Bajaj is getting ready to update Chetak. It has now type-approved a new variant for 2023. With the new Bajaj Chetak Premium homologated, one can expect more range. Battery capacity is still the same. But, there seem to be subtle changes in software and controller algorithms facilitating more range out of the same battery. This should be enough for visible gains in range from a single charge.2023 Bajaj Chetak Electric ScooterLast year, we reported a power bump in Chetak. It was homologated in December 2021. There used to be two variants on offer with Bajaj Chetak, Urbane and Premium. This new type approval document mentions Chetak’s Premium variant only. This variant is mentioned as the base variant and is named Chetak 2423 Premium. In the previous type approval document, Both Chetak 2413 Premium and Chetak 2413 Urbane variants were listed with Premium being the base model. For MY2023 new Bajaj Chetak seems to be codenamed 2423 and only the Premium variant will be on offer. Battery specifications are still the same as before. We’re looking at a 50.4 V 57.24 Ah battery as before. This calculates to 2.884 kWh of battery energy, out of which 2.480 kWh is usable. Battery alone weighs 24.5 kg.2023 Bajaj Chetak Homologated – Launch SoonGVW for Bajaj Chetak is 283 kg, same as before. This should mean kerb weight is still 133 kg. Motor seems to be the same too with 4.2 kW of peak power and 4.0 kW of continuous power. On the surface, everything seems to be similar to the outgoing model. That said, with the new Bajaj Chetak homologated, Bajaj has provided where it counts. In its range. New model should go 108 km before needing a charge, as opposed to 90 km (Eco Mode) and 80 Km (Sports Mode) range with the outgoing model. Both indicated range were certified by AIS 040.Dimensions & PriceNew Bajaj Chetak is identical to the outgoing model in terms of dimensions. Since there are minimal changes, we hope Chetak retains its strengths like its metallic body, IP67-rated battery, 12” alloys with tubeless tyres, soft-touch switchgear with back-lighting, 18L boot space, 4L glove box, LED lighting, and keyless functionality. In keeping with competition like Ather, Ola, TVS iQube and Hero Vida, we hope Bajaj offers a TFT touchscreen display with Chetak 2423 Premium. Bajaj needs to focus more on attracting a younger tech-savvy audience with a host of features and gimmicks. A revamp of the company website providing thorough details about its product as easily as possible is necessary too.Pricing for the new Bajaj Chetak 2023 model should be identical to the outgoing model. Which is Rs. 1,54,189 (ex-sh) and is offered in 4 shades. They are Brooklyn Black, Hazel Nut, Indigo Metallic and Velluto Rosso. Launch might be very soon. As per Urbane variant, there is a possibility of it being reintroduced with the above-mentioned features and gimmicks in the future. More

1993 Bajaj Chetak Scooter Restored To Full Glory – Old Vs Modified

At the time of its launch, Bajaj Chetak was one of the most powerful petrol scooters in IndiaOld Bajaj Chetak Scooter ModifiedThe current generation of millennials would resonate with an electric scooter when they hear the name Bajaj Chetak. But there is a large section of auto fanatics as well as mass consumers who would go back in time to the original petrol sipping Chetak. The two-stroke engine-powered scooter was no less than a revolution in India.First launched in the country way back in 1972, Chetak remained in production till 2005. Its design was originally based on Vespa Sprint but was later replaced by an all-new in-house design that shared a similar general appearance and style. During the peak of its popularity, this scooter had a waiting period that stretched to almost ten years.Restored Chetak 12 Volt ElectronicA 1993-produced model of Chetak has been restored by a person from Kerala. The restoration process has been discussed in detail in a video uploaded by MUNDODI VLOGS on YouTube. The video features a 12 Volt Electronic variant of the OG Chetak which was powered by a 145.45cc, two-stroke, single-cylinder engine that produced 7.5 bhp at 5500rpm and a peak torque of 10.8 Nm at 3500rpm.Prior to its restoration, the Chetak in discussion was in poor condition as rust had crept into most components of the scooter. For starters, the scooter rolls on 10-inch steel wheels shod with a 100/90 profile of tyres. The wheel rims, wheel hubs and front spring have been chrome plated that lends the scooter a retro charm.[embedded content][embedded content]Further, chrome-plated protective guard rails have been added to the front mudguard as well as the rear side panels. More chrome usage can be seen in the form of custom linings on the front fender and a stainless steel plate attached to the horn grille. Further, the rubber mats on the floorboard have been replaced by aluminium plating with proper drain holes to avoid rusting. An aftermarket side chrome-plated side stand has been added to the scooter which further accentuates its vintage appearance on it. The spare wheel which is normally found at the rear has been moved to the front glove area in order to provide a clean and sleek look to the tail section. As we can see, the engine is mounted on the right side of the scooter and the removable body panel comes with an aftermarket chrome plate for ventilation. It comes with a traditional split seat setup with a spring-loaded front seat for the rider. To add a fresh appeal, the scooter has been given a paint job and is now wrapped in a deep blue shade.Old Bajaj Chetak Scooter – Old vs ModifiedRestored EngineRestoration of the engine has also been done since rust had crept into the powertrain as well. Major components like the cylinder and piston head have been changed. Further, the engine cover has been plated with stainless steel and the entire engine has been powder coated with Zinc to avoid rusting. Also, a new carburettor has been added for a better air-fuel mixture. More
