Simple One has launched its Gen 2 range of electric scooters with major upgrades across tech, performance and features. This is in line with the brand’s strategy of continuous innovation and passing on the benefits to users. A new Simple One Ultra variant with a whopping 400 km range has also been unveiled. Simple One Gen 2 scooters – What’s new?

Where pricing is concerned, Simple One Gen 2 range starts with the Simple OneS, priced at Rs 1,39,999. The Simple One 4.5-kWh and 5-kWh variants are priced at Rs 1,69,999 and Rs 1,77,999, respectively. For complete peace of mind, Simple One is offering lifetime warranty for all its Gen 2 scooters.

Simple One Gen 2 is available in two variants, one with a 4.5-kWh battery pack and a higher-spec variant with a new 5-kWh battery pack. The newer battery pack uses a denser architecture, reducing its weight from 34 kg to 30 kg. In terms of performance, the variant with the 5-kWh battery pack generates 8.8 kW (12 PS) of peak power and 72 Nm of torque.

0 to 40 km/h can be achieved in just 2.55 seconds, which is an improvement over the earlier figure of 2.77 seconds. Top speed of the scooter is now at 115 km/h, as compared to 105 km/h earlier. IDC-certified range is 265 km. Simple One 4.5-kWh battery variant has an IDC range of 236 km.

Top speed and acceleration are the same as that of the 5-kWh battery variant. The base variant, Simple OneS, is equipped with a 3.7-kWh battery pack, offering an IDC range of 190 km. Power and torque output are at 6.4 kW (8.70 PS) and 52 Nm. The base variant has its top speed capped at 90 km/h.

Chassis and tech upgrades

Simple One Gen 2 scooters feature optimizations to the structural joints. This has helped improve rigidity, which ensures enhanced agility and more predictable rides. Seat height is now 16 mm lower, which will improve overall control and handling. Seats are now sharper and use stiffer foam, enhancing both form and function.

Suspension setup of Simple One Gen 2 scooters has been updated for a better overall experience. For safer high-speed rides, the scooters now use new tyres, specially designed for that purpose. Safety has been further enhanced with the use of reinforced battery crash zones.

Software systems powering the Simple One Gen 2 scooters have also been updated. Users can now choose from two additional riding modes of EcoX and SonicX. As the names suggest, EcoX is focused on improving range whereas SonicX unlocks the full power of the scooter.

Users can now choose from four traction modes and two levels of cruise control. The metro cruise control mode is for city riding needs, whereas the standard mode is for highways. There are four levels of regenerative braking, allowing users to choose as per their needs and riding preferences. Safety updates include hill-hold assist and vehicle fall automatic cutoff function. Emergency braking lights are another new addition, which are designed to trigger automatically during hard braking.

Simple One Gen 2 variants with the larger battery packs get a 7-inch TFT touchscreen display. In comparison, the Simple OneS variant is equipped with a 7-inch TFT display without touch function. The UI has also been updated with options for dark mode and light mode. All Simple One Gen 2 scooters come with a USB charging port and a front glove box. Underseat storage is 35 litres for all variants.

New Simple One Ultra variant

The showstopper is the new Simple One Ultra variant, which utilizes a 6.5-kWh battery pack. It has an IDC range of 400 km, which is the highest in its class. The Simple One Ultra can reach 0 to 40 km/h in 2.77 seconds. Pricing for this variant is expected to be announced at a later date.
