- The 2021 Genesis G80 and GV80 are set to reach U.S. dealers by this fall after the coronavirus pandemic delayed plans for the two vehicles to reach our shores by this summer.
- The GV80 is the brand’s first SUV, and the G80 is completely redesigned for 2021.
- Both vehicles start at around $50,000 and go upwards of $70,000.
The well-received 2021 Genesis G80 sedan and GV80—the Korean brand’s new entry in the premium-SUV category—were set to arrive this summer in the U.S., but the coronavirus pandemic has delayed the beginning of production on both. The G80 and GV80 will now reach dealers this fall, Genesis announced today.
Both the G80 and GV80 were revealed in full much earlier this year; the G80 was first seen early in March, and the GV80 back in January. The GV80 is the young brand’s first SUV and received a great deal of attention when it had its own Super Bowl commercial featuring John Legend and Chrissy Teigen.
In addition to adding a vehicle, through the last couple of years Genesis has redesigned its entire lineup of four vehicles and has received a great deal of praise from us in the process.
The 2021 Genesis G80 starts under $50,000 but can be optioned to above $70,000, undercutting rivals such as the BMW 5-series and Mercedes-Benz E-class. The GV80 is priced very similarly, as it also starts under $50,000 and tops out just above $70,000.
