Honda Unicorn BS6 launch price Rs 93,593 – Rs 6k expensive than BS4

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. today announced its Unicorn BSVI at a starting price of Rs. 93,593 (ex-sh, Delhi).

Over its 16 year tenure, Honda Unicorn has been the go to bike for 2.5 million folks. Unicorn features a new PGM-FI HET 160cc engine that delivers more power, and performance. Designed to deliver good low end torque and higher fuel efficiency. Compression ratio of 10:1 helps with punchy performance. A needle bearing rocker arm helps in reduction of friction losses, and smooth power delivery. The counter weight balancer reduces vibrations and helps deliver smooth acceleration from low to high rpm. In essence, the 160cc HET BSVI PGM-FI engine brings all it can to the 2020 Unicorn.

2020 Honda Unicorn BSVI features ABS (Anti-brake system) for enhanced braking performance. HET tubeless tyre (Low Rolling Resistance tyre) was developed with new tyre compound tech. This helps with energy loss reduction while maintaining optimum grip. Mounted on the advanced tough and flexible diamond frame, the high performance Rear Mono Shock suspension sits below the seat. It aids with superior riding comfort, and stability.

Bike specs are revised for an increased ground clearance (+8mm). The long wheelbase boosts rider confidence and comfort. A longer seat (+24mm) addresses comfort, and the seal chain means less frequent adjustments and low maintenance.

Honda Unicorn BSVI features Engine Stop Switch to turn off the engine with the touch of a button during frequent stops. Exterior aspects include a broad front cowl with smoked screen. The voluminous tank emphasises on bold character. There’s chrome bits on the side cover, garnish on front cowl and 3D Honda Wing Mark on the fuel tank.

The tail lamp design and blue backlit meter console help with brand recognition. 2020 Honda Unicorn BS6 is available with 6-year warranty package NEW (3 years standard + 3 years optional extended warranty). It’s available in 3 colour options – Pearl Igneous Black, Imperial Red Metallic & Mat Axis Gray Metallic.

The launch comes in good time as auto manufacturers move the deadline of BSVI implementation, which is mandated from April 1, 2020. With products being introduced well within time, manufacturers can hope for a smooth transition for dealers.
