Hero MotoCorp heralds in the New Year with fresh product launches, both in the motorcycle and scooter segments

In January 2025, Hero MotoCorp has introduced several new products to their range in Indian markets. The company strengthened their portfolio across both motorcycle and scooter segments. These new offerings include the Xtreme 250R and Xpulse 210 along with scooters such as the Destini 125, Xoom 125 and Xoom 160, the latter being a maxi scooter.

Along with showing off strong YoY and MoM sales growth, the company has also announced a strong 141% growth in its global business. There were 30,495 units dispatched to overseas markets, with demand scaled up in both Bangladesh and Colombia. Among the company’s achievements in the past month, was its success at the Dakar Rally 2025 wherein Hero MotoSports Team Rally finished in 7th place.

Hero MotoCorp, the world’s largest manufacturer of motorcycles and scooters, sold 4,42,873 units in January 2025. This was a marginal 2.14% YoY growth from 4,33,598 units sold in Jan 2024. It related to a volume increase of 9,275 units. Its MoM performance was even stronger with a 36.31% improvement over 3,24,906 units sold in Dec 2024. This was a 1,17,967 unit volume increase.

With the company’s motorcycle segment commanding a 90.39% share, sales were at 4,00,293 units in the past month, a slight fall of 0.49% from 4,02,256 unit sales of Jan 2024. New product launches and a more positive buyer sentiment at the start of the New Year, boosted its MoM performance by 34.09% when compared to 2,98,516 units sold in Dec 2024.

Scooters hold a 9.61% share and saw double digit sales growth both on a YoY and MoM basis in Jan 2025. Scooter sales surged by 34.99% to 42,580 units, up from 31,542 unit sales of Jan 2024. MoM sales too improved by 58.11% over 26,930 units sold in Dec 2024.

Breaking down sales in domestic and export markets, we see that Hero MotoCorp suffered a setback in domestic sales by 2.03% to 4,12,378 units. MoM improvement was seen in domestic markets. This was a rise of 40.19% from 2,94,152 units sold in Dec 2024.

However, the company witnessed an astounding 140.80% growth in terms of exports sales. Exports went up to 30,495 units in the past month. This was a volume increase by 17,831 units over 12,664 units shipped in Jan 2024. MoM exports suffered a marginal 0.26% decline.

In Jan 2025, Hero MotoCorp’s electric vehicle (EV) brand VIDA, also dispatched a total of 6,669 units of its recently launched VIDA V2 electric scooter. This e-scooter is presented in three variants of Vida V2 Lite, Vida V2 Plus, and Vida V2 Pro. Prices range from Rs 96,000, Rs 1.15 lakh, and Rs 1.35 lakh respectively (ex-showroom.

Hero MotoCorp also witnessed outstanding growth on a year-to-date (YTD) basis. Sales surged 6.41% to 49,61,515 units in the FY2025 period, up from 46,62,630 units sold in FY2024. This related to a volume growth of 2,98,885 units.

Motorcycle sales were up by 7.46% to 46,17,542 units while scooter sales declined by 5.92% to 3,43,973 units sold in the FY2025 period from 3,65,611 unit sales during the same period of the previous year. Domestic sales were up by 5.06% to 47,44,376 units while exports showed off double digit 48.10% improvement to 2,17,139 units in the FY2025 period.
