    Image – Riyas
2021 brought with it a revised price list for MY21 Honda two-wheelers

Honda scooter sales has long overshadowed its motorcycle sales. As a matter of fact, Activa scooter has shaped the brand, and is a flagship model the manufacturer is renowned for. It’s no surprise, Activa variant range is most detailed.
Price revision for MY21 product range has come into effect. Dio STD is pricier by 259 bucks at Rs 62,229. Dio DLX costs Rs 65,627, up 307 bucks from Rs 65,320. Repsol Dio variant bears the same increase as DLX at Rs 68,127, up from Rs 67,820.
Honda Grazia duo are HMSI’s costliest scooters. Grazia 125 drum now costs Rs 74,815 following a price revision of 903 bucks from Rs 73,912. The disc variant costs Rs 82,140. Now, costlier by Rs 1,162 from Rs 80,978 last week. Since then, a lot has changed.

But of course, the recently launched 20 year anniversary editions too are part of the process. Although only just introduced at Rs 68,299, 20th AE STD variant now costs Rs 68,299. It was launched at a price of Rs 67,392 in the last week of November 2020. Price is revised by 907 bucks. The 20th AE DLX variant is costlier by a little over 1.1k. MY21 price is revised to just over 70 grands, at Rs 70,044, up from Rs 68,892.
In addition, there are the drum, alloy, and disc variants. Activa 125 drum now costs Rs 70,629. Price revision stands at Rs 1,632, up from Rs 68,997. MY21 125 alloy variant costs Rs 74,198. Price has been increased by Rs 1,701 from Rs 72,497. The costliest of the lot is the 125 disc variant at just under 78k.
Its highest base price means its price increase is steepest at Rs 1,755. New price reflected is Rs 77,752, up from Rs 75,997. Not surprisingly, there’s an Activa for everyone considering the variant range makes for a long price list. Between the entry level scooter, and the range topper, there’s a noticeable price difference. As much as 11 grands.

Bajaj Price List Jan 2021 – Pulsar, Platina, CT100, Avenger, Dominar Prices Increased

    Bajaj Pulsar NS 200
To get in the spirit of the new year, a price revision has been introduced for MY21 Bajaj motorcycles

New year. New Me. Sounds great. But that’s not how it works with automobiles. What does change is manufacturing year. The cause and effect being new model year vehicle, in this case MY21 vehicles are more likely than not pricier.
As a norm, such disclosure is usually made in the closing weeks of the year prior. It serves a dual benefit. One, as a reminder that vehicles are going to be costlier soon. Simultaneously, it brings spring to people’s steps as they go about bargain hunting just in case there’s a good deal to be found.
With attention to December deals and discounts, this enthusiasm is heavily relied on to boost year end sale. Certainly a period when manufacturers are dealing with the low ebb of slow shopping trends following a robust festive season in the preceding months.
Jan 2021 Bajaj Motorcycles Price List
Price revisions are thought out carefully to offset input costs. Most importantly, they can’t be so steep that buyers are put off. And a pre-decided cap of price hike percentage means prices vary across the product lineup depending on base price. To start with, Bajaj’s entry price point vehicle CT100 alloy KS is now costlier by 500 bucks at Rs 46,931. The ES variant warranted a steeper revision at Rs1,344. This widens the price gap between both variants even further. ES now costs RS 53,491.
Bajaj Motorcycle Price List Jan 2021
Base Platina variant continues at same price as before – Rs 51,667. Bajaj Platina 100 ES drum variant price hike is least at Rs 403 at a revised price point of about 59 grands. ES disc variant is now costlier by 1,900 bucks. Price is revised to Rs 62,726 from Rs 60,826. The 110 H gear disc variant is costlier by just over a grand at Rs 64,077 from Rs 76,922.
2021 Bajaj Pulsar variants and price
For one thing, where the Pulsar is concerned, Bajaj presents an entourage. In essence, you’d be forgiven if you didn’t know just how many variants there are. In fact, entry level Pulsar 125 Drum CBS is the only bike across the portfolio that has seen a price reduction of Rs 506 instead of a hike. The unit now costs Rs 71,616, down from Rs 72,122 earlier. Both, 125 Disc CBS, and split seat duo are costlier by Rs 1,024. Disc CBS price is revised to Rs 77,946 from Rs 76,922. 125 Split Seat Drum CBS now costs Rs 74,298, up from Rs 73,274. Disc variant price is revised to Rs 81,242 from just over 80 grands.

2021 RE Himalayan Tripper Navigation Display Unit Detailed In New Spy Shots

    2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan
Tripper Navigation feature is expected to be offered in future Royal Enfield models like the new-gen Classic 350

Royal Enfield Himalayan will soon be given a mid-life facelift later this year. Test mules of the updated adventure tourer has been spotted on a couple of occasions in the past month. Among other updates, the most prominent inclusion to the 2021 Himalayan is going to be the app-based Tripper Navigation system.
The latest spy image clearly shows the instrument cluster with an extra pod which is presumably the smartphone-based Tripper Navigation. It offers turn-by-turn navigation to riders with locations entered on their phone. This system was first introduced in the recently launched Meteor 350.
    Himalayan Tripper
This Tripper Navigation is expected to be offered in other Royal Enfield models such as Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 later. Images of the test mule show the Himalayan wearing a Lake Blue colour scheme which is on offer since the BS6 update last year.
The latest iteration of Himalayan is not expected to witness any massive updates both in terms of its design and specifications. Expect a minor price bump, due to the addition of this new feature.
    2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan
    Specs
This 2021 iteration of Himalayan might receive a more refined engine. It is powered by a BS6 compliant 411cc single-cylinder fuel-injected motor which generated 24.3 bhp and 32 Nm of peak torque. This unit is paired with a 5-speed gearbox. It will be interesting to see if Royal Enfield decides to elevate its output since, as of now, its returns are very modest for an engine of that capacity.
Its equipment list is likely to be identical to the current model. Though Royal Enfield might throw in a few extra colour options. Currently, the bikemaker offers as many as six paint options namely- Rock Red, Gravel Gray, Granite Black, Snow White and Lake Blue. The adventure motorcycle is offered at a starting price of Rs 1.91 lakh and goes up to Rs 1.96 lakh (both prices ex-showroom).
    Other RE models in pipeline
As far as its launch is concerned, the updated Himalayan is expected to hit showrooms during the first quarter of 2021 itself. In fact, Royal Enfield has a plethora of new launches lined up for this year as the company had earlier revealed its intentions of introducing one new model every quarter for the next seven years. The updated Himalayan will be followed by the new generation model of Classic which is also expected to receive the Tripper Navigation.
Later towards the middle of 2021, the Chennai-based bikemaker is expected to launch the facelifted 650 twins- Interceptor and Continental GT. Royal Enfield has also been testing its upcoming cruiser KX650 quite extensively in the past few months. It will be based on the same 650cc platform as Interceptor and Continental GT.

    2021 Kawasaki Z H2, Z H2 SE BS6 India Launch Price Rs 21.90 L, Rs 25.9 L

    2021 Kawasaki Z H2 SE
Kawasaki Z H2 shares the same powertrain and mechanicals with its supersport faired sibling- Ninja H2

Kawasaki has widened its product portfolio in India by launching the supercharged hyperbike Z H2 and its premium variant Z H2 SE. The former has been priced at Rs 21.90 lakh while the latter has been priced at Rs 25.90 lakh. All prices are ex-sh. Both variants will be made available in a standard Metallic Diablo Black/Golden Blazed green dual-tone paint scheme.
The Japanese motorcycling giant had opened bookings for the supercharged naked roadster last year, however, the launch got delayed thanks to the outbreak of novel coronavirus. The bike will arrive in India as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) and will be imported only against order, just like its supersport sibling- H2.
    Design & Features
Interested customers can book their Z H2 and Z H2 SE from Kawasaki India’s official website or a nearby dealership. One can expect a waiting period between three to four months on either of the variants.
The naked roadster follows the Sugomi design language that can be seen on other motorcycles from the Japanese brand’s Z series. Its dynamic crouching form lends it a very aggressive stance. Overall it adopts a minimalist approach to its styling.
    2021 Kawasaki Z H2
The supercharged bike is laced with a plethora of features and electronic aids, some of which are cruise control, IMU-based traction control, cornering ABS, a bi-directional quick-shifter and launch control. It features three riding modes- Road, Sport and Rain; and three power modes- Full, Middle and Low.
Its design is complemented by an all-LED lighting setup. It also receives a 4.3-inch TFT display which is offered with Bluetooth connectivity and Kawasaki’s Rideology app for certain tuning and OBD functions.

Coming to its powertrains, both variants of the naked roadster are powered by a 998cc in-line four-cylinder Balanced Supercharged Engine which kicks out a massive 197.2 bhp and 137 Nm of peak torque. This unit is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with an assist and slipper clutch for smoother gear shifts.
    Hardware Setup
Differences between the variants can be found in their hardware configurations. While both motorcycles are based on a high-tensile steel Trellis frame, the standard Z H2 is suspended by Showa Separate Function Big Piston forks at front and a Showa mono-shock at rear.
On the other hand, Z H2 SE’s architecture is assisted by higher grade equipment that benefits from Showa Skyhook’s electronically adjustable suspension. While in the former, braking duties are handled by Brembo M4.32 monobloc calipers with dual discs at front and a single disc at rear, the rear gets Brembo Stylema anchorage setup with dual discs at front and a single disc at rear.
Z H2 and Z H2 SE are currently the only supercharged models in Kawasaki’s portfolio in India. In fact, they are the only supercharged motorcycles on sale in the country. As of now there are no direct rivals of Z H2 in India, however, things might spice up a little if and when Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 Factory arrives in India. More

Honda Two Wheeler Sales Dec 2020 – Activa, Dio, Unicorn, Hornet, Shine, CB 350

    Honda Activa 6G
Honda 2Wheelers India reports domestic wholesales growth in December 2020, and in total sales in Q3 FY21

With December 2020, done and dusted, Honda 2Wheelers India has reported 5 percent growth in domestic sales. Total (domestic and exports) sales for December grew by three percent YoY. At the same time, MoM sales have declined by almost 40%. In all Q3 FY21 sales is reported at 5 percent YoY growth.
Domestic sales is up at five percent at 2,42,046 units in December 2020 up from 2,30,197 units YoY. Exports are at a decline of 19.56 percent at 20,981 units, down from 25,086 units. Total sales in December 2020 stood at 2,63,027 units up from 2,55,283 units. Wholesales for the quarter ended in December swelled to 11,49,101 units from 10,91,299 units.
    Short term outlook for HMSI
Yadvinder Singh Guleria, Director – Sales & Marketing, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. said, “After the positive retail and wholesale traction in December’20, we enter 2021 with a new hope. The 3rd quarter marked the first quarter of positive sales after a long time.”
About 50% of the total sales are thanks to Activa scooters. Other strong performers for Honda are CB Shine, Dio, Unicorn, Livo, Grazia, Hornet and newly launched CB350. Below is the company’s sales performance for Dec 2020.
Honda Two Wheeler Sales Dec 2020
HMSI foresees growth in the next 2 quarters too. This is on account of low base sales at the start of 2020. First quarter of 2020 started as any other. But the growing risks of Covid-19 pandemic meant the country went into an indefinite lockdown towards the end of March 2020.
With catastrophic effects on manufacturing and sales. This was also an important period to sell all BS4 stock that manufacturers had as BS6 emission norms were mandated from April 1, 2020. Honda of course had initiated transition well in advance.
April went down in history with all auto manufacturers reporting no sales. Q2 of 2020 took a real beating with manufacturing starting in a phased manner through May 2020. A smooth business run was still weeks away as folks grappled with stealing supply chains and logistics. While Q3 saw activity pick up, it was in Q4 that Honda was sprightly. Traditionally, the festive season has over time proven to be one of planned purchases wherein demand peaks.
Honda Motorcycle Scooter India 20th Anniversary
HMSI says ‘positive growth and market expansion may take some time’. In the meantime, there’s much to look forward to at Honda. 2021 marks the manufacturer’s two decade long presence in India, and 20th Anniversary celebrations will be on. This apart, a range of product launches are scheduled across varied segments.
A wide ranging product portfolio means, Honda has that many opportunities to receive a segment and product. In 2020 alone, manufacturer was able to introduce a dozen products, most of which were BS6 transition models. It did launch the all new Hornet 2.0 and Hness 350 to improve its market reach further by widening the segments it does business in. More

2022 KTM Duke 390 Patent Images Leak – Gets Radar Based Cruiser Control

    2022 KTM Duke 390. Image – RideApart
The next generation KTM 390 Duke is set to be one of the first products in its segment to offer radar-based cruise control

Transfer of technologies from passenger cars to motorcycles is not a new trend. Over the past few decades, a number of features, especially electronic systems, originated in four wheelers and eventually found their way on to motorcycles.
The ongoing push to make the cars semi- or fully autonomous is also bound to have some rub off on the two wheeler segment. The radar-based cruise control system which has started cropping up on high-end motorcycles is just the beginning.
KTM 390 Duke with radar technology
KTM has a reputation for bringing premium features to the medium and compact displacement segment. The current KTM 390 Duke packs in full LED headlight, colour TFT instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity, WP suspension, slipper and assist clutch, dual-channel ABS, and so on.
So, the emergence of a patent application showing radar technology on what appears to be the next gen 390 Duke platform does not come as a surprise to us. KTM is close to bringing the radar-based advanced rider assistance system technology into production with its new 1290 Adventure.
    2022 KTM Duke 390 Leaked Patent Image – 1
The patent filing represents a simpler version that could go into the brand’s popular medium displacement motorcycles. The patent filing proposes three solutions for the front-mounted radar module, all embedded into the headlight system.
The first design has the radar sensor mounted lower in the headlight cluster, just below the heat sink while the second one features the sensor above the heat sink. The former would be ideal for an adventure tourer with a tall ride height while the latter would be more suitable for lower riding road bikes where a higher mounting point within the headlamp cowl would make for a better angle for the radar.
    2022 KTM Duke 390 Leaked Patent Image – 2
The third option represents a Husqvrana-style circular headlamp with the radar module located in the center. This indicates that the technology will also be available on future iterations of Husqvarna road bikes like Vitpilen and Svartpilen.
    The application
The radar modules, depending on the number and location, have multiple applications on a motorcycle. The obvious use of front-mounted radar module is adaptive cruise console and emergency brake assist. Higher end models usually also employ a rear-mounted unit which facilitates features like rear collision warning, blind spot detection etc.
    2022 KTM Duke 390 Leaked Patent Image – 3
However, in the interest of keeping costs low, the smaller Duke is expected to be equipped only with the front module. It is to be noted that the radar-based assistance systems would also need IMU (Inertial Measurement Sensor) to function safely.
KTM 390 Duke Supermoto variant in the making?
The sketch of the motorcycle used to illustrate the radar technology in the patent filing appears to be a variant of the next generation 390 Duke. The sketch represents updated trellis frame with new rear sub-frame and spoke wheels. While one shouldn’t read too much into the patent sketch which is usually used only for representative purposes, it does add some gravity to the claims that a supermoto variant of the 390 Duke is in the pipeline.
