File photo. Credit – Indori MotoroidsKTM India has reported significant YoY sales growth while exports dip
Every major two wheeler maker in India has reported YoY sales growth for June 2021 over sales of June 2020. KTM India also saw increased sales in domestic market while its exports suffered de-growth.
The company has recently released a fresh price list across all variants valid from 1st July 2021. This is the latest third price revision this year and is not going to be the last. The new price hike is attributed to rising input costs in view of high inflation of markets.
KTM YoY Domestic Sales and Exports
In domestic markets, sales of KTM 200, 125, 250 and 390 accounted for 3,224 units in June 2021. This was a 66.36 percent YoY increase over 1,932 units sold in June 2020. Of the portfolio, it was the KTM 200 that noted highest sales in domestic markets. Sales stood at 1,404 units in June 2021, up 140.41 percent over 584 units sold in June 2020. KTM 390 (RC + Duke + ADV) domestic sales last month were at 432 units, up from 116 units sold in June 2020, an increase of 272.41 percent. KTM India is actively testing the 2022 KTM RC 390 that has been seen with new body panels, colour options and graphics. Dealerships have also stated accepting bookings for this upcoming model which could means that launch date is imminent.
Taking YoY exports into account, KTM 390 and 125 suffered de-growth while 200 and 250 sales increased with a total of 8,524 units shipped in the past month. This was an 11.51 percent lower as against shipments of 9,633 units in June 2020.

    MoM Sales and exports

Royal Enfield GT 650 Modified Into A Modern Retro With New Features

Royal Enfield 650 Modified By STG TrackerRoyal Enfield Continental GT is available in three trims namely- standard, Custom, and Chrome and is currently priced between Rs 2.90-3.12 lakh (ex-showroom)
Besides having a cult following in India, the Royal Enfield brand has grown its customer base in many international markets as well in recent years. The 650cc Twins- Interceptor and Continental GT have had a major role in expanding the brand’s presence overseas.
As we all know, Royal Enfield motorcycles are custom-friendly and hugely popular in the aftermarket industry in India. This aftermarket customisation culture has even spread to Royal Enfield fans overseas as many custom-made motorcycles are caught on cameras regularly.
In another case of a beautifully crafted custom Royal Enfield bike, a Continental GT has been modified to offer a neo-retro styling. The modification job has been carried out by STG Tracker, an aftermarket workshop based out of Argentina. The motorcycle flaunts a minimalistic design with many body panels removed and it is covered in an all-black colour scheme.
    Updated Design
Upfront, the bike gets an aftermarket round LED headlamp along with a short front fender. The clip-on handlebar features new switchgear, throttle grips and retro-style bar-end rearview mirrors.
Royal Enfield 650 Modified By STG Tracker
The motorcycle gets a custom-built fuel tank that replaces the stock fuel-filler cap with a flush-type one. Other custom-made parts include the single-piece seat with a rear cowl and the bike’s sub-frame which has been chopped short at the tail section. This results in absence of a rear fender and a pillion seat.
Moreover, the stock instrument cluster has been replaced with a small, circular and single-pod semi-digital console. The exhaust pipes have also been shortened and feature stubby integrated mufflers at the end.
The glossy black treatment on the fuel tank and rear seat cowl with dark grey pinstripes add a premium appeal to the motorcycle. On the contrary, the engine gearbox assembly and frame have been finished in matte black which lends it robust appeal and ruggedness.
Royal Enfield 650 Modified By STG Tracker
    Mechanical Updates
There have been plenty of structural changes made which may have improved the bike’s ergonomics. The rear suspension has been attached to a custom-built swingarm which consists of dual shock absorbers with integrated turn-indicators at top mounts.
All side panels have been removed to expose all intricate mechanicals of the neo-retro cafe racer. Surprisingly, the fuel tank, seat, and rear cowl have been combined into a single unit that can be removed together.
Royal Enfield 650 Modified By STG Tracker
Things don’t stop there as a new set of gear lever, footpegs and brake lever have been mounted onto the frame. A new air filter has been installed at the engine bay along with a custom-made radiator guard. The modified Continental GT 650 rolls on balloon tyres wrapped around blacked-out wire-spoke rims. Braking setup provides extra bite with dual disc brakes offered at the front wheel.
There is no mention of any updates made to the powertrain. A standard Continental GT 650 is powered by a 648cc parallel-twin air-/oil-cooled motor that delivers an output of 47 bhp and a peak torque of 52 Nm. This unit is coupled with a six-speed gearbox. More

TVS Creon Electric Scooter Launch Plans On Track – Ather 450X Rival

TVS Creon Electric ScooterTVS new electric scooter could be named Retron that was registered last year
Rising fuel prices have resulted in significant pain for commuters. However, from the EV industry’s perspective, rising fuel prices is working as a catalyst to boost sales of electric vehicles. In electric two-wheeler space, we are witnessing hectic activity in the form of new product launches, capacity and business expansion and development of charging and battery swapping infrastructure.
    TVS new electric scooter
Realizing that EV wave could get much stronger in the coming years, TVS has chalked out a plan to invest Rs 1,000 crore for strengthening its EV portfolio. One of the products will be a premium electric scooter based on Creon Concept. As may be recalled, Creon Concept electric scooter was showcased at 2018 Auto Expo.
Now that conditions are favourable, TVS new electric scooter could finally see the light of the day. It is expected to be launched sometime next year. According to the company, its Creon based electric scooter will come with advanced connected features. It will rival the likes of Ather 450X and upcoming Ola electric scooter.
At 2018 Auto Expo, Creon Concept was showcased as a performance oriented electric scooter. The core idea was to ensure sustainable mobility without compromising on performance.
    TVS Creon Concept
    Creon Concept features and specs
In its concept form, the electric scooter was equipped with three advanced lithium-ion batteries. Collectively, the batteries generated 12 kW of power. One of the key features of the batteries was that they were capable of holding a high charge per volume. The electric motor was also an advanced unit that was capable of propelling the scooter from 0 to 60 kmph in 5.1 seconds.
Range of Creon Concept electric scooter was rated at 80 km on a full charge. The batteries supported fast charging, allowing 80% charge in just 60 minutes. It is possible that when TVS launches its new electric scooter next year, it could improve upon these numbers.
TVS new electric scooter will be positioned above the existing iQube. It will be offered at a premium price. iQube will continue to be the entry-level electric scooter from TVS. By end of this fiscal, iQube is expected to be available at 1,000 dealerships spread across the country. These new electric vehicles will have battery packs in 5-25kW capacity. They will be manufactured at a new facility that is currently being developed inside the existing Hosur plant. Around 500-600 engineers are involved in the design and development of these electric vehicles. More

Honda NX200 ADV Based On Hornet Launch Expected In Aug

Render Credit – Young MachineAs compared to rivals, Honda currently lacks a dedicated small capacity ADV in its portfolio
The adventure segment in the country has witnessed a significant boom in recent years. Off-road enthusiasts with limited budget usually choose bikes such as Hero Xpulse 200, Royal Enfield Himalayan and KTM 250 Adventure. While Honda has bikes like Africa Twin, it does not have an affordable ADV option for customers. To fill the gap, Honda will soon launch a new entry-level ADV motorcycle.
    Based on Hornet 2.0
Honda’s small capacity ADV for the Indian market will be based on Hornet 2.0. To be more specific, the CBF190X road-centric adventure tourer sold in China could be the base for Honda’s new ADV for India. It is to note that Hornet 2.0 is based on CB190R naked motorcycle that is sold in Chinese market. The CBF190X adventure tourer is built on the same platform.
Talking a bit about Honda CBF190X, the motorcycle borrows several styling bits from CB500X. The latter is imported in India as a CKD. Some of the key features of CBF190X include sleek headlamp design, moderately sized windshield, sculpted fuel tank, half fairing, stubby upswept exhaust, and single piece seat. Since CBF190X is a road-biased adventure tourer, it gets standard alloy rims.
    Honda entry-level ADV engine
Powering Honda’s new ADV will be the same 184.40 cc, 4-stroke, SI engine that powers Hornet 2.0. It is capable of generating 17 hp of max power at 8500 rpm and 16.1 Nm of peak torque at 6000 rpm. It is mated to a 5-speed multiplate wet clutch transmission.
Honda NX200 name registered in India
Other hardware could also be the same as Hornet 2.0. The bike utilizes a diamond type frame with USD forks at the front and monoshock rear suspension. Braking duties are performed by 276 mm disc at the front and 220 mm disc at the rear. Single-channel ABS is offered as standard.
Honda’s new motorcycle will appeal to folks who are not necessarily into off-roading, but still want the ADV look and feel. For example, enthusiasts who prefer city streets and highways could choose this motorcycle.
For off-roading purposes, the most affordable option currently available is Hero Xpulse 200. Honda is unlikely to equip its new ADV with dedicated off-roading features. So, there’s no reason to worry for Xpulse 200.
Talking about pricing, Honda’s new small capacity ADV could be priced around Rs 15k more than Hornet 2.0. The latter is available at Rs 1.31 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). In comparison, Xpulse 200 works out cheaper at a starting price of Rs 1.21 lakh. It remains to be seen if people will be willing to pay more just for an ADV look.
