Simple Energy Mark 2 Electric Scooter Spied Testing – Bajaj Chetak Rival

Simple Energy Electric ScooterUpon its launch, Mark 2 will compete against the likes of TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak Electric and Ather 450X to name a few
Every other day we get to hear a new development regarding electric mobility in India, especially in the two-wheeler segment. With rapid advancements in e-mobility technology, we expect many new manufactures to come with new battery-powered mobility solutions in the near future.
One of them is Simple Energy which made its name last year by revealing the upcoming flagship e-scooter internally codenamed Mark 2. Earlier this year, the Bengaluru-based EV startup raised an investment worth an undisclosed amount from angel investors. As for Mark 2, the company will be launching the e-scooter sometime later this year.
    Design & Features
A prototype of the electric scooter was recently spotted testing wrapped under heavy camouflage. Going by the images, they seem to be clicked at a testing track. Starting with its design, it displays a futuristic styling that is complemented by a geometric body design.
Some of the highlights are LED headlamps, LED taillights, a large and flat footboard and ergonomic seating. The startup has also revealed that the e-scooter has been completely designed using French tech giant, Dassault’s development platform.
    Simple Energy Electric Scooter
Not just in its design, but the e-scooter is modern in terms of features as well. It will be laced with gizmos such as an IP67 rated touchscreen display, 4G and Bluetooth connectivity, a midship mounted electric motor, on-board navigation and a chain-sprocket type final drive.
    Powertrain Specs
Coming to its specifications, the powertrain of Mark 2 will feature a 4.8 kWh lithium-ion battery pack paired to an electric motor which kicks out 9.4 bhp and 72 Nm of torque. The scooter will be offered with three dedicated riding modes- Eco, Normal and Sports. In Sports mode, Mark 2 can attain a maximum speed of 103 kmph while 0-50 kmph acceleration has been timed at 3.6 seconds.
In Eco Mode, the scooter evidently offers the maximum range of 240 km on a single. For Normal and Sports modes, the numbers stand at 220 km and 180 km respectively on a single charge. This is way more than its immediate rivals such as Ather 450X (116 km) and Bajaj Chetak Electric (95+ km). Using a fast charger, the battery could be rejuvenated from 0-80 percent within 60 minutes.
    Simple Energy Electric Scooter
    Prospective Launch
Earlier, Simple Energy has conceded that Mark 2 will be locally manufactured in India with localisation levels reaching up to 90 percent. This would make it eligible for the concessions under the FAME II (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles) Scheme by the Government of India.
The EV startup also claims that the scooter will offer the largest luggage storage in its segment of electric scooters. Simple Energy intends to start mass production of Mark 2 by June this year while deliveries are expected to commence from September 2021. It will initially be rolled out in Delhi and Bengaluru followed by Chennai, Mumbai and Hyderabad. More

2021 TVS Apache 310 Likely To Get New Features, Updated Suspension

    TVS Apache Thor Edition Render
TVS Apache RR 310 competes against the likes of KTM RC 390
TVS Motor, the Hosur-based bikemaker has revealed that it would be introducing an updated Apache RR 310 on April 7, 2021, which could bring in small updates with greater significance. In this article, we look at the possibility of all the updates on the upcoming iteration of the supersport tourer.
    Possible Updates- Improved Ride Dynamics
For starters, it is possible that TVS might provide preload adjustability on front USD forks for RR 310 just like it did on the recently updated Apache RTR 200 4V.
This addition would be helpful for riders who like to tune the suspension setup in accordance with their ride comfort and style. The levers should be made span-adjustable in order to tweak the controls according to the rider’s preference.
Another possible update could be extracting more output from the 313cc motor, although this one is more of an optimistic kind since it is not very likely. Currently, the reverse-inclined, single-cylinder, DOHC motor makes 34 PS of power and 27.3 Nm of peak torque.
    Existing TVS Apache 310 BS6
Recent updates to RTR 160 4V and RTR 200 4V have witnessed a slight jump in output figures with the former now returning the highest output in its segment.
    Better Electronic Aids
One more crucial update could be improved electronic rider aids. For instance, the current ride modes of Urban and Rain do not have an accurate engine mapping that does not provide low-end torque to the motor necessary for city commutes. It could also result in the motorcycle being ridden at a higher gear for a longer part of the journey which could reduce fuel consumption.
    New Pair of Tyres
A change that is almost a given is new tyres since the adoption of the new rule by the Government of India which bans all imports of tyres from foreign countries. Currently, RR310 employs the super sticky Michelin Road 5 tyres which could be swapped for TVS Eurogrip ProTorq Extreme Tyres. These tyres would surely be more affordable than the former.
Overall, prices of the 2021 Apache RR 310 is expected to rise by around Rs 5,000-6,000. Currently, the faired sports bike is retailed at a price of Rs 2.50 lakh (ex-showroom). If the makers are generous, they might also throw in a couple of new colour options as well. More

Honda CB350RS New Black, Grey Colour – Launch For Export

Honda CB350RS Gunmetal Black MetallicIn India, CB350RS is only offered in dual tone colours – Export market gets new single tone colour schemes
After emerging as one of the popular options in 350cc motorcycle segment in India, CB350 range has been launched in Honda’s home market Japan. As compared to CB350 and CB350 RS in the Indian market, the names have been changed to GB350 and GB350S in Japan. These will be manufactured in India and exported to Japan. While they are largely the same in both countries, there are some differences in terms of colour options, weight and engine output.
    CB350 vs. GB350 – Key differences
While the engine is the same in both countries, the one used in Japanese models has been tweaked to deliver slightly lesser power and torque. The 348.36cc engine on-board Honda CB350 and CB350 RS is capable of generating 21 ps of max power and 30 Nm of max torque. On Japanese GB350 and GB350S, the engine makes 20.4 ps and 29 Nm. That’s 0.6 ps and 1 Nm less, as compared to the Indian model. 5-speed gearbox is the same in both countries.
    Honda CB350 Candy Chromosphere Red
Another difference can be seen in the colour options offered in the two countries. In Japan, GB350 is available in colour options of Candy Chromosphere Red, Matt Jeans Blue Metallic, and Matte Pearl Morion Black.
In Comparison, CB350 is offered in two variants, DLX and DLX Pro. While DLX gets monotone colour options of Precious Red Metallic, Matte Marshal Green Metallic and Pearl Night Star Black, DLX Pro is offered in dual-tone colour options of Matte Steel Black Metallic with Matte Massive Grey Metallic, Athletic Blue Metallic with Virtuous White and Pearl Night Star Black with Spear Silver Metallic.
Honda CB350RS Pearl Deep Mud Grey
Talking about the sportier GB350S, colour options include Pearl Deep Mud Grey and Gunmetal Black Metallic. In India, CB350 RS is offered in monotone Radiant Red Metallic and dual-tone Black with Pearl Sports Yellow. CB350 and GB350 also differ in terms of their weight. GB350 and GB350S weigh 180 kg and 178 kg, respectively, which is 1 kg less as compared to their Indian counterparts.
Honda CB350 Matte Pearl Morion Black
    CB350 vs. GB350 pricing
Honda GB350 is priced at 550,000 Yen (~ Rs 3.63 lakh) and S variant at 594,000 Yen (~ Rs 3.92 lakh). In comparison, CB350 DLX and DLX Pro are priced at Rs 1.86 lakh and Rs 1.92 lakh, respectively. CB350 RS retails at 1.96 lakh for monotone variant and Rs 1.98 lakh for dual-tone model.
In the Japanese market, GB350 will go on sale from April 22. The S variant will be available from July 15. With its elegant profile and comprehensive range of features, Honda CB350 could be introduced in several other international markets. This will reduce dependence on a single market.
Honda CB350 Matt Jeans Blue Metallic
In India, CB350 range has a tough task to take on market leader Royal Enfield that has 95% market share in 350cc segment. Till the time enthusiasts start accepting CB350 range as equal to or even better than Royal Enfield 350cc motorcycles, exports will fill the gap in terms of revenue generation and production capacity utilization. 2021 Suzuki Burgman 400An improved traction control system has helped enhance overall safety in the 2021 Suzuki Burgman 400
Suzuki has taken the wraps off the new 2021 Burgman 400 which gets a bunch of new updates. These new updates could be found in the feature, styling and powertrain departments. Apart from all these revisions, the Maxi scooter now complies with the latest Euro-5 emission norms.
First launched in 1998, this is the third major upgrade for the Suzuki Maxi scooter, the first two being in 2006 and 2018. Upon its initial launch, Burgman 400 set the tone for the mid-displacement maxi-style scooters across the world and continues to find a substantial market in European markets.
Maxi Styling with new colour options
Starting with its styling, the overall design has been carried forward from the previous iteration and continues to look like a jacked-up version of Burgman 125 currently on sale in India. It is touted to be as comfortable and utilitarian as ever featuring a plush saddle with adjustable lumbar support, cut-away footboards.
It now delivers improved visibility in the dark thanks to the updated lighting setup comprising LED headlights, taillights and running taillights. It is now available in three colour schemes namely- iron grey, matte silver and matte black, all with blue alloy rims.
    2021 Suzuki Burgman 400
    Updated Powertrain
There have been plenty of updates made on the engine department. It continues to feature the same 400cc single-cylinder motor but a series of updates has led to improved overall performance.
    2021 Suzuki Burgman 400
Thanks to a new twin-plug cylinder head, the engine now returns better low and mid-range torque. A change in ignition timing has resulted in stable idling, easier engine startup and increased top speed and yet at the same time reducing fuel consumption.
The updated motor also has a stronger power delivery and improved throttle control due to revised cam profiles and altered injectors from 16-hole to 10-hole. This has also resulted in increased combustion efficiency. The stricter emission standards have also brought a new catalytic converter that should result in improved refinement.
    2021 Suzuki Burgman 400
    Updated Features on offer
As far as its equipment is concerned, the major update has been the new traction control system which enhances riding safety in wet and slippery conditions. Moreover, stopping is a lot easier thanks to an ABS setup which is 36g lighter. The new Burgman 400 is also more practical with under-seat storage of 42 litres and in addition to 6.3 litres in the front glove box. The front compartment also houses a 12V charging socket.
Prices of the 2021 Burgman 400 will be revealed at the time of its launch and it is expected to go on sale in Europe starting with UK in the next few months. 2021 Suzuki Hayabusa Top Speed Run On An Empty Track

2021 Suzuki Hayabusa Top Speed Run. Image – NFS MOTOR SPORTA video by NFS Motor Sports details the engine sound and power of acceleration of the new Hayabusa
Suzuki Motorcycle is set to bring in the 2021 Hayabusa into India. Scheduled for official launch sometime in April, a YouTube video draws our attention to the changes it will receive over its older counterpart. It is slated to get an enhanced electronics package, improved braking system, and better suspension while engine capacity remains same with power down by around 7 hp.
    Euro 5 compliant engine
New Hayabusa gets its power via 1,340cc, inline 4 cylinder, liquid cooled, DOHC engine that makes 190 hp power at 9,700 rpm and 150 Nm torque at 7,000 rpm. Power figures see a reduction by 7 hp as against 197 hp offered on its earlier counterpart while peak torque is also lower than before.
However, torque delivery is stronger than that seen on the older engine. The motor is mated to a 6 speed gearbox. As has been revealed in the video, this engine is capable of accelerating the 264 kg heavy weight bike to cross the 200 km/h mark in a few seconds and then on to touch 270 km/h and even further to a top speed 280 km/h, thus claiming to be the “quickest Hayabusa ever”.
Official figures state that the new Hayabusa can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds and from 0 to 200 km/h in 6.8 seconds to hit a top speed of 299 km/h. Take a look at the top speed run in the video below.
    [embedded content]
It receives advanced electronics in the form of 10 levels of traction control, 10 levels of anti-wheelie control, 3 levels of engine brake control, anti-lift control and a 6 axis IMU with cornering Anti-Lock Braking System. The Hayabusa also gets 3 power modes, launch control and hill hold control.
    New Design Elements
The 2021 Hayabusa continues to sport the same shape as its earlier counterpart but receives stronger crease lines and new design elements with revised LED head and tail lamps, LED position lamps, an analogue dashboard and a new TFT display.
It gets seat height of 800mm and ground clearance at 120mm while braking and suspension are via updated Showa suspension and Brembo Stylema calipers at the front brake. The sports tourer rides on Bridgestone Battlax S22 tyres. It will be offered in 3 new colour schemes of B5L (Glass Sparkle Black/Candy Burnt Gold), BS5M (Mat Sword Silver/Candy Daring Red), B5N (Pearl Brilliant White/Metallic Mat Stellar Blue).
Teased on the brand’s social media channels for India, the 2021 Suzuki Hayabusa is up for launch in April. It will be brought in via the CKD route for local assembly and will see an increased price as compared to its older model which was priced at Rs.13.75 lakhs, ex-sh. More
