      Harley Davidson 300cc Cruiser Detailed In Real World Images

      About a month ago, we got a sneak peek of the upcoming SRV 300 roadster manufactured by Chinese bikemaker Qianjiang Motor. With Harley Davidson joining hands with Qianjiang in 2019, we suspect this bike to be rebadged wearing the logo of the iconic American brand.
      Another set of spy shots of what appears to be the final production-spec SRV 300 has surfaced on the internet. Qianjiang, the parent company of Italian brand Benelli, is planning to launch the motorcycle in its home market in a few weeks. The approval documents attached to the image that was leaked last month shared a few details about the upcoming cruiser.
      Mechanical Specs
      The SRV 300 will be propelled by an all-new 296cc V-Twin motor which has been tuned to produce around 30 bhp. This unit will be linked to a six-speed gearbox. The cruiser can clock a top speed of 128 kmph and would be rich on bottom-end torque thanks to its V-Twin configuration.
      A low kerb weight of 163 kg would translate to high power to weight ratio, thus ensuring a spirited performance. Also, it makes for a very efficient motorcycle for daily commutes.

      The cruiser borrows certain inspiration from Harley Davidson’s most popular bobber Iron 883. For instance, it features the same suspension setup comprising USD front forks and rear mono-shock apart from a water-cooled, overhead-cam V-Twin engine neatly fitted with a radiator.
      Other specifications known as of now are a wheelbase of 1400mm and 16-inch wheels with disc brakes on both ends. Not just mechanically, SRV 300 adopts the design philosophy of its American cousin.
      Harley-inspired Design
      It sports a traditional low-slung cruiser stance with a tapered handlebar, a low saddle and slightly forward-set footpegs. Other design highlights inspired by Harley models are a teardrop-shaped fuel tank, a round headlight and metal bodywork.

      The single-piece seat looks comfy enough for the rider but seems a little too short to accommodate a pillion. The motorcycle receives a blacked-out theme with a dark treatment given to the engine-gearbox assembly, suspension setup, swingarm, alloy wheels, handlebar and rearview mirrors.
      As far as features go, SRV 300 will be equipped with a full LED lighting setup and a digital instrument cluster. Safety will be taken care of by a dual-channel ABS as standard. It is yet to be confirmed if SRV 300 will indeed be rebadged into a Harley Davidson model but there are strong indications that it will.       Looking to start its new innings in the Indian market, Harley-Davidson will be launching Pan America 1250 and Pan America 1250 Special in June. As may be recalled, Pan America was launched globally earlier this year in February. In the Indian market, Harley will be selling these motorcycles as part of its distribution and sales agreement with Hero MotoCorp.
      Pan America 1250 key features
      One of the USPs for Pan America is its unique design that looks rugged and powerful. Some of the key features include 6.8 inch touchscreen TFT display with Bluetooth and navigation, LED turn signals, tall windscreen, sleek dual seat, upswept exhaust and short tail section.
      The motorcycle comes with 5V USB-C port that can be used for charging as well as updating the instrument console. Pan America offers a comfortable, upright riding stance, which would be suitable for both on-road and off-road environments. Colour options for Pan America include Vivid Black and River Rock Gray.
      Pan America 1250 Special is a premium version, which offers a range of exclusive features. Special variant has additional colour options of Gauntlet Gray Metallic, Deadwood Green and Baja Orange with Stone Washed White Pearl (dual-tone).

      Some of these include LED headlamp with adaptive lighting, brush guard, heated hand grips, tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), multi-position rear brake pedal, aluminium skid plate, hand wind deflectors, adaptive ride height and tubeless laced wheels.
      Pan America 1250 powertrain
      Pan America is equipped with a 1,252 cc motor that is capable of generating 152 PS of max power at 8750 rpm and 128 Nm of peak torque at 6750 rpm. Users can choose from five pre-programmed ride modes of Sport, Road, Rain, Off-Road and Off-Road Plus. Advanced users can create their own customized ride mode, wherein they can adjust various settings such as power delivery, engine braking, cornering ABS, and cornering traction control.
      Talking about suspension, Pan America has 47mm inverted front forks and hydraulic monoshock rear suspension. Both front and rear suspension offer compression, rebound and spring preload adjustability. Braking duties are performed by radially mounted, monoblock, 4-piston calliper at the front and floating, single piston calliper at the rear. The motorcycle utilizes 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels.
      Pan America measures 2,265 mm in length and has a wheelbase of 1,580 mm. It has dry weight of 242 kg and offers 175 mm ground clearance. Pan America 1250 base variant is expected to be priced at around Rs 20 lakh. The Special model will be pricier by around Rs 2-3 lakh. Prices will be revealed at the time of launch. More

      Hero MotoCorp has invited its employees and business partners to take part in a ‘first to ride’ programme. This initiative will allow employees of Hero’s service, suppliers and its various business partners eligible for a special discount on a limited number of Harley Davidson models.
      Limited Edition Models With Special Benefits
      This special offer is applicable to Fat Boy 107, Fat Boy 114, Low Rider and Low Rider S. Along with the special offer, in order to celebrate Hero’s association with the American motorcycling giant, the Indian two-wheeler manufacturer is providing the first 200 units of limited edition Harley Davidson motorcycles with a Chairman’s Edition plaque.
      Hero First To Ride Offer
      The cruiser, Fat Boy 107, is available at a special discount ranging from Rs 1.85 lakh to Rs 2.20 lakh while its price ranges from Rs 18.99 lakh to Rs 19.49 lakh. Fat Boy 114, on the other hand, is retailed at a price between Rs 21.90 lakh and Rs 21.40 lakh while Hero MotoCorp associated customers can avail a discount between Rs 2.25 lakh and Rs 2.50 lakh.
      Low Rider can be availed at a discount of Rs. 1.25 lakh whereas its powerful sibling Low Rider S can be had with a discount of Rs. 1.50 lakh. Their respective retail prices range between Rs. 14.25 – 14.37 lakh and Rs. 15.25 – 15.37 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom.

      Powertrain Specs
      Coming to their specifications, Fat Boy 107 is powered by a 1745cc V-twin liquid-cooled motor that churns out 145 Nm of peak torque. Fat Boy 114 comes with a larger 1868cc Milwaukee-Eight 114 engine that is capable of pushing out 155 Nm of peak torque.
      Similar is the case with Low Rider models with the standard model being equipped with a 1745cc motor and the S trim being offered with a larger 1868cc with the same output. All these four motorcycles come with a six-speed gearbox.
      Harley Davison in India
      As already covered previously, Harley Davidson quit independent operations in India late last year after more than a decade of subdued performance in the market. After it quit India operation, the American brand entered into a distribution and licensing agreement with Hero MotoCorp as a part of its Rewire strategy. As per this distribution agreement, the Indian two-wheeler manufacturer will be responsible for selling and service Harley Davidson motorcycles through Harley’s existing network of dealers.
      The licensing agreement, on the other hand, will give Hero MotoCorp the responsibility to sell and develop a number of premium motorcycles under Harley Davidson models. More details on upcoming Harley models will be shared in the coming months.

      Harley Davidson 300cc Segment Roadster Leaks – Rival To Royal Enfield

      Earlier in 2019,  Harley Davidson had confirmed its partnership with Chinese bikemaker Qianjiang, the parent company of Italian brand Benelli. Although there were no official updates regarding the projects to be undertaken by this joint venture, speculations indicated that a new entry-level roadster would be developed under the iconic American brand.
      Further, it suggested that this naked motorcycle would be based on Benelli 302S and would specially cater to developing markets of Asia. Late last year, Harley revealed the 338R Street Tracker concept based on 302S but with a different heart altogether. Many believed that this bike could be the American bikemaker’s upcoming naked streetfighter.
      Now, images of a new concept have emerged online that looks more like a typical Harley Davidson and this concept might eventually supersede the 338R Street Tracker idea. Design sketches courtesy of Qianjiang reveal a more conventional cruiser motorcycle which reminds us of a signature Harley Davidson style. Although branded as QJMotor, the bike’s Harley-esque styling cannot be overlooked.
      New Motor
      The documents revealing the concept model also accompany some images and information regarding its specifications. The major highlight being a 296cc V-twin motor which has been rated at around 30 bhp. This power figure might not be exceptionally high but its relatively low kerb weight of 163kg would mean a healthy power to weight ratio and spirited performance.

      Design Highlights & Inspiration H-D Iron 883
      Named as SRV300, the teaser images show that the motorcycle takes evident design inspirations from Harley Davidson’s most popular cruiser Iron 883. Other than a water-cooled, overhead-cam V-Twin motor with a neatly fitted radiator and upside-down forks at front, the model closely resembles the iconic American bobber with a similar design philosophy.
      The motorcycle stands on all-black alloy wheels that feature polished highlights on the edges of the black-painted spokes. Also, the guard for the belt drive gets a holed look similar to a Harley.
      Some other highlights which the QJ SRV300 shared with its American cousin are a typical low stance, a low saddle, tapered handlebar, forward-set footpegs, teardrop-shaped fuel tank and a round headlamp. Although everything is scaled down. For instance, alloy wheel sizes are 16-inch for front and 15-inch for the rear while wheelbase has been pegged at 1400mm. The documents reveal that it can clock a top speed of 80 mph (around 130 kmph) and its safety kit includes ABS.

      This iteration of the SRV300 bobber, as indicated in the documents, would be retailed as a ‘QJ’ branded motorcycle. Only the Chinese manufacturer could reveal if the bike is a product of its partnership with Harley. There is no mention of an exact launch timeline or price. We guess we have no option but to wait for further details to emerge regarding the upcoming cruiser. Once launched, it will be a perfect rival to motorcycles from Royal Enfield.

      Harley Davidson has officially revealed its flagship adventure motorcycle Pan America 1250. A direct rival to BMW R1250GS, Pan America 1250 was first announced three years ago and is part of the manufacturer’s new product expansion strategy.
      Available in two variants standard and Special, Pan America 1250 is a completely new bike that has been designed and developed from scratch. The engineering team of H-D has crafted this bike keeping in mind the utility and ability of iconic American adventure motorcycles.
      Design
      Speaking of its design, Pan America sports a design that is completely unique to contemporary adventure tourers. The most attractive highlight being the flat LED headlight beam which can cover a very wide aperture of what’s ahead.
      Two-piece split seats, upswept muffler and exhaust pipes finished in gold are other attractive highlights. The bike has been predominantly covered in matte finishes.

      Mechanical Configurations
      The ADV is underpinned by an exposed frame with a bolt-on rear subframe and a cast-aluminium swingarm that shrinks unsprung weight. The suspension setup is a fully adjustable one from Showa that has been tuned for preload, compression and rebound damping at both, front and rear ends.
      At front it gets 47mm USD forks while the rear gets a mono-shock, both having an impressive travel of 190mm. Special variant is equipped with a semi-active unit that automatically adjusts the damping and riding style in accordance with road conditions.
      Braking power is received from Brembo radial monobloc four-piston calipers which are chewed down by twin 320mm discs at front and a single 280mm disc at rear. It rides on 17-inch front and 19-inch rear 5-spoke alloy wheels that are wrapped around by tubeless tyres of 120/70 and 170/60 profiles respectively.

      Underneath that sturdy frame is an all-new 1250cc V-Twin DOHC engine that spits out 150 bhp at 8750rpm and a peak torque 128 Nm at 6750 rpm. It is mated to a six-speed gearbox with a slipper which unlike its BMW nemesis, sends power to the rear wheels rather than front.
      The engine also performs more duties than just producing energy. It has been integrated as a stressed member of the chassis and has been bolted to the front frame, mid-frame and tail sections.

      Features on offer
      Being a flagship, it comes with a bunch of electronic aids to enhance its off-road and ride capabilities. These include ride-by-wire, cornering ABS, traction control system and multiple riding modes namely- sport, rain, road, off-road and off-road plus. Riders also get the option to customise an off-road mode for themselves that lets them configure TCS, ABS, torque delivery, throttle response and suspension settings as per their preference.
      These can be selected through the bike’s 6.8-inch TFT touchscreen unit which is compatible with navigation, Bluetooth connectivity for calls and music. However, the touchscreen gets disabled once the bike starts moving and then it needs to be toggled through the switchgear. Other features on offer include an adaptive LED headlight, cruise control as standard and heated grips on the Special trim.

      Even though the American bikemaker has quite independent operations in India, this new adventure tourer is expected to make it to Indian shores at a later stage and retailed by Hero MotoCorp.       Harley Davidson is going through a rough period where sales and their finances in major markets is concernced. Recently, the iconic American brand had to quit operations in India after an ordinary performance for over a decade. In other markets as well it has been struggling to rack up sales.
      Still, the bikemaker has quite a cult following across the globe. In India, operations like sales and manufacturing of Harley Davidson bikes will be carried out by Hero MotoCorp. Despite these difficult times, Harley Davidson continues to plan its future with new products.
      Harley Davidson had revealed Custom 1250 sometime back. But there were uncertainties about the motorcycle entering production anytime soon. Now, the brand has confirmed its launch by listing the Sportster on the Future Vehicles section of its official website.
      The model was first showcased in July 2018 along with Bronx Streetfighter and Pan America ADV-tourer. It was earlier slated to enter production in 2022, however, it seems the company wants it out in markets a little earlier in order to rack up some sales.

      Mechanical Details
      Harley Davidson Pan American and Custom 1250 were announced for production at EICMA 2019 in Italy. Both motorcycles share a lot in common, even though they are completely different bikes. They are powered by Harley Davidson’s new 1250cc Revolution Max liquid-cooled V-twin motor which pushes out 150 bhp and 122 Nm of peak torque.
      Hardware on the bikes is likely to consist of fully-adjustable Showa suspension and Brembo brake callipers. As far as its weight is concerned, it is expected to tip the weighing scales over 240 kg.
      Custom 1250 Design
      Coming to its design, Custom 1250 prototype shares many of its styling elements with Fat Bob. For example, its sleek headlamp and high-mounted shotgun dual exhaust. The motorcycle features a wide handlebar, single-piece saddle, side swingarm, a teardrop-shaped fuel tank and chunky tyres with compact fenders.
      Even though it received a stripped-down styling which is sportier than most other Harleys, its overall silhouette is still long and low like a cruiser. Interestingly despite its hefty design it still gets a single disc brake at the front.

      Along with Custom 1250, Harley is also expected to come out with the production-spec Pan America which is an adventure tourer. It features a futuristic design tenet which is highlighted by a sleek rectangular headlamp that is surrounded by an inverted U-shaped fairing. It gets typical ADV elements such as a wide handlebar, engine crash guard, knuckle protectors, minimal side panels, wire-spoke rims with knobby tyres, adjustable windscreen and high ground clearance.
      Both motorcycles upon their launch will directly rival their counterparts – Custom 1250 rivalling Honda Rebel 1100 and Pan America rivalling Africa Twin. More details about these models are expected to be furnished in the next few months as their launch nears. More

      Hero MotoCorp Signs 10 Harley Davidson India Dealers Into Their Network

      Harley-Davidson saw a steady dip in demand in the country. Dismal performance could be blamed on its high pricing along with wrong product portfolio and marketing strategy. Harley-Davidson paid higher attention to the more expensive cruiser bikes in the country while its competitors also offered more affordable and technologically advanced lineup in varying categories.
      This resulted in rival brand offerings appealing to a wider and more diverse segment of buyers in the country – and thus higher sales. For Harley, this resulted in the end of the road of their India operations.
      A few weeks after shutting down the only factory in India citing poor sales and mounting losses, and part of a move to restructure, Harley Davidson announced its association with Hero MotoCorp. The two bike manufacturers have signed a non-equity partnership through which Hero MotoCorp will sell the premium range of motorcycles under the Harley Davidson banner.
      This is not the first of its kind of such two wheeler tie-up. There is the BMW Motorrad-TVS partnership forged in 2013 to make mid engine premium bikes. Triumph of UK has partnered with Bajaj Auto to introduce mid-size motorcycle for India and global markets. There is also the KTM Husquvarna –Bajaj association wherein Bajaj Auto owns about 48% stake in KTM. Jawa, BSA, Yezdi and Mahindra are some of the oldest brands which are being brought to India by Classic Legends in partnership with Mahindra.

      Hero – Harley Deal
      Getting back to the Hero MotoCorp partnership with Harley-Davidson, the Indian giant, which is the world’s largest manufacturer of motorcycles and scooters in terms of volumes, will hold the boat steady here. Hero MotoCorp conducts its production operations via 8 manufacturing units out of which 6 are located in India while there are one each in Columbia and Bangladesh.
      Only last month it was announced how transition will progress. This included the announcement of a clear future path for current Harley-Davidson India dealers by year-end. All changes comes into effect from January 1, 2021.
      Since Harley’s departure in September 2020, dealers have discussed compensation packages on offer. Existing contracts expire at the end of 2020. Harley-Davidson Dealers Association is steadfast in its demand for fair-compensation for all dealers, representing all 33 Harley-Davidson outlets in India. Collectively, the brand bastions have been on a Blackfoot since Harley-Davidson announced withdrawal of independent operations in India, and announce its partnership with Hero MotoCorp.
      Considering the time-bound, take it or leave it situation on offer, 10 of 33 dealer partners have accepted terms to be a part of Hero MotoCorp’s dealership network. Meanwhile, dealers continue to wait to hear from Harley-Davidson on matters pertaining to adequate compensation. The on offer new dealership contracts being held off for 23 of the 33 dealers is indicative of how the situation isn’t beneficial to anyone.
      Harley Dealers Unhappy
      Hero MotoCorp is absorbing only 33 percent of dealers. The remainder are treading with uncertainty in regard to dealer partner investments and future business outlook. This includes the 10 who ‘will be coerced to act without receiving any benefit’. The plight of the 23 dealers who are not being approached by Hero MotoCorp to be a part of its dealership network is unknown. The association feels ‘that providing us with a fair deal is Harley-Davidson’s undeniable responsibility towards us’. More
