2021 Ducati Monster Makes Global Debut – Gets Lighter, More Powerful

    2021 Ducati Monster
The 2021 Ducati Monster achieves a staggering weight saving of 18 kg

Ducati’s fifth and the final episode of its World Premiere series has landed, and the star of the show is the all-new Monster. The famous Italian street fighter has clocked sales of over 350,000 so far and the latest iteration emerges to be even more appealing. Like the Multistrada V4 which debuted a few weeks ago, 2021 Ducati Monster benefits from a comprehensive overhaul.
    2021 Ducati Monster
Ducati started out with a mission of preserving the Monster’s minimalism while modernizing the overall package. The end result is a sporty looking compact sportsbike with a new full LED headlamp (the DRL reminds us of the MG Agusta Brutale though), a new fuel tank with ‘Bison-Back’ profile, dynamically sweeping LED indcators and a simple tailpiece.

The rake angle, handlebar position and foot peg position have been tweaked to offer better ergonomics. The new Monster is claimed to be easier to handle in tight spots. The standard seat height is 820 mm which can be lowered to 800 mm by means of an accessory. If that isn’t short enough, Ducati also offers a special suspension spring kit that lowers the entire motorcycle to offer a ride height of 775 mm.
There is a Plus variant with a compact visor and pillion seat cover as standard fitment. The 2021 Ducati Monster is available in three colour options namely Ducati Red, Matte Black and Aviator Grey (with fluorescent red rims). The motorcycle still is instantly recognizable as a Monster but has a decidedly modern appeal.

    Improvements under the surface
The new Monster is a completely different vehicle under the skin compared to its predecessor. The most significant change comes in the form of the aluminium front frame derived from Panigale V4. The component which only weighs 3 kg brings a massive weight saving of 4.5 kg and is bolted directly to the head stock thereby making the engine a stressed member. The rear sub-frame is made of Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) which saves about 2 kg compared to the Monster 821.
That’s not all. Ducati engineers have undertaken a massive light-weighting exercise by optimizing each and every component. The swing arm, rims, engine and frame together contribute to a massive weight saving of 18 kg compared to the outgoing Monster. With a dry weight of 166 kg, the new motorcycle should be a lot more agile than before.

    Specifications
Keeping with the upsizing trend to comply with the Euro-5 emission norms, the 2021 Ducati Monster’s 11-degree Testastretta liquid-cooled, twin-cylinder engine now displaces 937 cc. The power and torque figures stand at 111 hp (2 hp more than 821) and 93 Nm. Ducati says that the motor offers better low- and mid-range torque performance. Service interval to check the valve clearance, called as the Desmo Service, is at 30,000 km. Transmission is a 6-speed unit.

2021 Ducati Diavel 1260 Lamborghini Edition Revealed

    Ducati Diavel Lamborghini Edition
The limited-run Ducati Diavel 1260 Lamborghini Edition is expected to go on sale from January 2021 onwards

A couple of weeks after Ducati revealed the 2021 version of Diavel 1260, the Italian superbike manufacturer has now unveiled a limited-run Lamborghini Edition of the same. This special edition of the muscle cruiser was unveiled at the fourth episode of Ducati World Premiere.
Ducati Diavel 1260 Lamborghini Edition has been inspired by the limited edition Lamborghini Siàn FKP 37 hybrid supercar. The power cruiser even sports the same colour scheme called Gea Green which has been used on the Siàn FKP 37 and looks exemplary on both vehicles.

    Lamborghini Inspired Design
While Lamborghini has restricted this supercar to only 63 units of production model, Ducati has been more generous and will sell 630 units of the special edition Diavel 1260. Both Lamborghini and Ducati designers have worked hand in hand to deliver something worth being a Limited Edition. To add to the premiumness, the new Diavel gets golden USD forks.
However, the highlight in this design remains the golden forged rims used in the alloy wheels. The typical Ducati Red is used for colouring the Brembo brake calipers. Even the frame incorporated has shades of gold in it. Other design highlights which are inspired by Siàn FKP 37 are radiator covers, air intakes, fuel tank cover, mudguards, muffler and seat cover.

The dashboard cover and headlight frame like all the above mentioned components have been made of carbon fibre designed by superimposing floating elements on the main structure of the bike. The bike also pays homage to Automobili Lamborghini’s founding year by imprinting the number 63 on its semi-fairing. The Y-shaped details in FKP 37 have been carried over to the Ducati’s Y-shaped cutouts in the saddle and hexagonal muffler.
    Mechanical Details & Features
Diavel 1260 Lamborghini has been built on the same tubular steel trellis frame as the regular model and is assisted by fully adjustable Öhlins suspensions at the front and rear. Other components like the 17-inch wheels with 240mm profile tyres have been carried over from the standard model. It tips the weighing scales at 220 kg.

Coming to its performance, Diavel 1260 Lamborghini is powered by a 1262cc L-Twin Testastretta DVT engine. In its Euro 5 configuration, this unit pushes out a maximum of 162 hp at 9,500 rpm and a peak torque of 129 Nm at 7500 rpm. Being a Ducati it comes with a host of electronic aids such as Cornering ABS EVO, Bosch’s 6-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (6D IMU), Ducati Power Launch EVO (DPL), Cruise Control and Traction Control EVO (DTC).
At a price of USD 31,995 (Rs 23.63 lakhs), it is a healthy USD 11,700 (Rs 8.64 lakhs) costlier than its base model. Along with this special edition motorcycle, consumers can also opt for a special jet-style helmet with coordinated graphics, designed by Centro Stile Ducati with the number 63 badging. More

Ducati Revives SP Moniker – Unveils 2021 Panigale V4 SP

    2021 Ducati Panigale V4 SP
Panigale V4 SP is the latest addition to the V4 lineup which makes it five motorcycles in the range

It is a good time for Ducati fanboys as the latest edition of Ducati World Premiere saw the unveiling of not one but two motorcycles. Alongside Supersport 950, the Italian superbike brand also revealed the next generation of Panigale V4 SP thus reviving an iconic moniker of the brand from its yesteryears.
SP stands for Sports Production and as described by Ducati it “is used to recognize a production bike with specific technical equipment that makes it faster on the track.” This is established by the fact that each of these V4 SP units will be individually numbered to lend an exclusive identity, however, production will not be in limited numbers.

This moniker was last used in the 916 range of Ducati and is not going to replace Panigale V4R and both models will coexist alongside the other Panigale V4s. In fact, the homologation-spec superbike is USD 3,000 less expensive than V4S at USD 37,000.
The V4 SP is essentially an amalgam of all Panigale V4s in the current lineup. It shares its mechanicals with Panigale S while certain design and aesthetic elements from V4R and Superleggera have been thrown in.

    Performance
Coming to its most critical aspect- performance, Panigale V4 SP sources its power from the same 1103cc Desmosedici Stradale engine which also powers the base Panigale V4 and V4S models. This unit now complies with Euro-5 emission standards and returns an impressive output of 214 bhp at 13,000 rpm and 124 Nm of peak torque at 9000 rpm. Like the Superleggera and V4R, it gets STM EVO-SBK dry clutch which is accompanied by the customary growl from Desmosedici Stradale in the background.
    Hardware
In terms of dynamics, it is based on the same platform as V4S and also inherits the latter’s Öhlins NIX 30 fork, TTX 36 rear shock, and electronic steering damper. Inclusion of semi-active suspension indicates that amateur riders would be more comfortable on V4 SP.

Many components such as the lightweight 5-spoke carbon wheels, dry clutch, Brembo 330mm discs, brake calipers and master cylinders and carbon fibre winglets have been derived from Superleggera. Drop in unsprung mass in rims decreases moment of inertia for quicker handling. Also, it is helped by the fact that it is 1.4 kg lighter than V4S.
    Features
It gets a host of electronic updates including Race A and Race B ride modes. The latter increases the torque band on lower three gear ratios to accommodate for low-grip conditions or for riders with less experience. It also gets Ducati Traction Control Evoluzione 3 (DTC Evo 3) an enhanced version of the existing traction control.

The equipment also includes Ducati Data Analyzer+ with a GPS module. Apart from these updates, it also features the regular electronic package which comprises cornering ABS, wheelie control, engine brake control, launch control, slide control and a quick shifter.
Panigale V4 SP is available in only a single colour scheme. The black paint with silver inserts on the tank is a tribute to ‘winter test’ colours used by Ducati’s MotoGP and WSB teams. Considering the past launches by Ducati in India, it is likely that the V4 SP will make it to India in 2021. More

2021 Ducati XDiavel Dark, Black Star, Scrambler Nightshift – Breaks Cover

    2021 Ducati XDiavel Black Star
The 2021 Ducati XDiavel receives an 8 hp power boost in addition to becoming Euro-5 compliant

Ducati started its five-episode world premiere video series with a bang last week by world premiering the all-new Multistrada V4 adventure tourer. In its second episode, the Borgo Panigale establishment introduced a fleet of black themed motorcycles for the 2021 model year.
    2021 Ducati XDiavel Dark
The 2021 Ducati XDiavel is available in two editions centering around the dark theme. Conforming to ‘Reduce to the Max‘ design philosophy, the 2021 XDiavel Dark adopts matte finish for the bodywork and mechanical components, resulting in a menacing power cruiser. The highlights include black anodized
    2021 Ducati XDiavel Dark
It is not a purely cosmetic venture though. Ducati has tweaked the engine mapping and revised the exhaust system to make the XDiavel’s Testastretta DVT 1262 liquid-cooled motor compliant with Euro-5 emission norms. While at it, the engineers have managed to squeeze 8 hp more out of the motor which now has 160 hp on tap. However, the power bump is applicable only for the markets which impose Euro 5 norms.
Feature highlights include LED headlight, TFT instrument console, adjustable suspension system, Brembo monoblock calipers at the front, Pirelli Diablo Rosso tyres, slipper clutch and so on.

    Ducati XDiavel Black Star
The Black Star is inspired by the world of sportscars, says Ducati. The special edition motorcycle is swathed in matte black and grey livery with a dash of contrast red accent. Positioned above the XDiavel Dark, the XDiavel Black Star boasts additional features such as the lightweight forged and machined wheels, suede leather saddle and other features that are consistent with the existing S Trim including the Ducati Multimedia System.
    2021 Ducati Scrambler Nightshift
In addition to introducing new colour themes for the Scrambler Desert Sled and Icon, Ducati also added a new Scrambler Nightshift variant to the mix. The latest member of the 803 variant features Aviator grey paint job in matte finish and a minimal roadster styling. The frame, engine and spoke wheels (18-inch front and 17-inch rear) are all finished in black. The meaty Pirelli MT60 dual-purpose rubbers significantly add to the motorcycle’s raw character.
    2021 Ducati Scrambler Nightshift
There isn’t any noteworthy change to the features list. The 2021 Ducati Scrambler Nightshift continues to be equipped with LED instrument dial, dual-channel cornering ABS, LED DRLs, and so on. Ducati has 3 more episodes of its world premiere series to be aired, and we think, by the end of it, the entire portfolio will stand updated for the new, and hopefully better, year.

2021 Ducati Multistrada V4 Debuts With Radar Tech – India Launch Next Year

    2021 Ducati Multistrada V4
The 2021 Ducati Multistrada V4 boasts a service interval of 60,000 km

The eagerly anticipated new generation Ducati Multistrada V4 flagship adventure tourer has finally been unveiled online via first of a five episode video series. Since its inception in 2003, Ducati has managed to sell over 110,000 units of its cross country workhorse and the latest iteration is leaner, meaner, lighter and packed with an array of first-in-industry technologies.
    2021 Ducati Multistrada V4
The new Multistrada retains its instantly recognizable styling language characterized by an imposing, front heavy stance, and yet, every single design element is much more modern and sleeker than before. The new beak and panels of the semi-fairing are optimized for aerodynamics and better cooling performance. The side panels are so designed to channel airflow towards rider’s legs, a feature which would be widely appreciated on long journeys.
The smart LED headlamps with Panigale-inspired LED DRLs render the Multistrada V4 a strong character. The bodywork-free tailpiece further accentuates the frontal bulk, a conscious decision by the designers.

    Powertrain
The 2021 Ducati Multistrada V4’s largest party trick is its all-new V4 liquid-cooled 1,158 cc engine which is more compact than the outgoing L-Twin motor despite featuring two additional cylinders. Thanks to various weight saving measures, the V4 units is 1.2 kg lighter.

Power and torque figures stand at 170 hp at 10,500 rpm and 125 Nm at 8,750 rpm. A six-speed transmission with up and down quick shifter is connected to the motor by means of a slip and assist clutch. The rear bank of cylinders is deactivated at idle to improve thermal comfort.

The Multistrada’s GranTurismo V4 motor has an impressive service interval of 60,000 km, longest by a huge margin. The all-new spring valve return system seems to have played a major role in extending the service interval.

    Equipment
The 2021 Ducati Multistrada V4’s aluminium frame is equipped with a two-sided swing arm, and the top-end V4 S sits on a semi-active Marzocchi electronic suspension (170 mm travel at the front and 180 mm at the rear) with Ducati Skyhook System. The spoke wheels come shod with 120/70-R19 front and 170/60-R17 Pirelli Scorpion Trail II rubbers.
    Digital Instrument Panel
The Italian adventure tourer’s wide array of electronic features include an IMU-supported cornering ABS, traction control, wheelie control and cornering lights. The motorcycle’s 6.5-inch TFT color instrument panel is as comprehensive as a modern passenger car infotainment system. It incorporates smartphone mirroring, navigation and gives access to various vehicle settings.
World’s First Production Motorcycle With Radar Tech
The most significant equipment, however, is the front and rear radars, a first in a production motorcycle. The front unit, mounted on the beak, facilitates Adaptive Cruise Control while the rear one supports blind spot detection and rear collision warning.

Available in V4 and V4 S variants, the 2021 Ducati Multistrada is expected to hit the showrooms in early 2021. The tech-laden cross country tool will make its Indian launch most likely next year. More
