      After launching middleweight motorcycles RS 660 and Tuono 660 in September, Aprilia is gearing up to introduce updated SR160. It is currently the highest capacity Aprilia scooter available in India.
      Other scooters offered by the Italian manufacturer include SR125, Storm 125, SXR-125, and SXR-160. There’s a SR160 Race edition available as well, which gets special MotoGP inspired styling.
      Updated Aprilia SR160 styling and features
      Ahead of its launch, updated SR160 has started arriving at dealer showrooms. Latest images are credit to YouTube channel TorqueTV Live. Most of the changes have been introduced at the front, where the scooter gets a new V-shaped LED headlamp. It’s a single-beam unit in comparison to the dual-beam unit used in current model. Headlight assembly is now much broader and comes with integrated LED DRLs that are placed vertically.
      Top cowl gets new grooves that ensure a proper face for the scooter. It is flanked by turn indicators, which are largely the same as earlier. Graphics have been updated across the front and side panels. The Italian connection can be seen with the green, white and red graphics on the front apron. In the current model, this styling feature is placed on the top cowl.
      New Aprilia SR160
      Another key update is that components like the front fender have carbon fibre finish. Other parts such as top cowl and some sections of side panels are wrapped in glossy finish. These changes ensure a sportier, premium look and feel for the scooter. At the rear, the scooter gets a single-piece pillion grab-rail. The existing model has split grab rails.
      Twin pod semi-digital instrument console is expected to be the same as earlier. It is not certain if Aprilia will introduce new colour options for updated SR160. In its current form, the scooter is available in colour options of red, white, black, blue and grey.
      Updated Aprilia SR160 engine and specs
      There are unlikely to be any major changes to the scooter’s hardware. SR160 gets power from a 160.03 cc, air cooled, single cylinder, 3 valve, SOHC motor. It is capable of generating 10.86 hp of max power at 7,600 rpm and 11.6 Nm of peak torque at 6,000 rpm. The scooter has telescopic front suspension and a monoshock unit at rear. Braking apparatus comprises 220mm disc at front and 140mm drum brake at rear. Single-channel ABS is offered as standard.
      Aprilia SR160 measures 1985 mm in length, 806 mm in width and has a wheelbase of 1365 mm. It runs on 120/70 – 14-inch front and rear tubeless tyres. It weighs 122 kg and can carry 7 litres of fuel. As of now, Aprilia SR160 does not have any direct rival in the Indian market.       Aprilia will be updating the SR 160 power scooter with a mild facelift in the next few days. Two prototypes of the updated scooter have been spotted in an Aprilia dealer yard in Bengaluru. This is the second instance where the facelifted SR 160 has been spotted in recent months, the first in an undisguised avatar.
      However, the updates are likely to remain purely cosmetic in nature with no changes in specifications. The nature of updates though subtle are noticeable. For instance, the new 2022 Aprilia SR 160 flaunts new body graphics which lend the scooter a fresh appeal.
      New Aprilia SR 160 Facelift – Updated Styling
      Among other updates is the addition of a single-piece pillion grab rail as opposed to split grab rails in the outgoing model. It also gets an updated V-shaped single-beam LED headlamp cluster instead of a dual-beam unit in the current SR 160.
      The headlight is flanked by sleek LED DRLs on both sides. Styling on the front apron has also been revised which now features new creases on the side fairings.

      The scooter is seen in two paint schemes- white and black. The former gets a dual-tone treatment with blacked-out fenders, handlebar, grab rail, alloy wheels and floorboard panels. On closer inspection, it appears that the front mudguard has been provided with a carbon fibre finish which enhanced the premium appeal of the scooter.
      SR 160 continues to feature the same set of turn indicators housed on the sides of the handlebar. Another interesting piece of detail is the tricolour (green, white and red) of the Italian flag embossed on the front apron signifying the scooter’s origin.
      2021 Aprilia SR 160 Facelift – Mechanical Specs
      In its updated iteration, SR 160 will be powered by the same 160cc single-cylinder, fuel-injected motor which kicks out 10.8 bhp at 7600rpm and 11.6 Nm at 6000rpm. This motor is paired with a CVT automatic gearbox. Suspension duties are handled by 30mm telescopic forks up front and a mono-shock at rear. Anchorage is taken care of by a 220mm disc at front and a 140mm drum at rear, assisted by a single-channel ABS as standard.
      New Aprilia SR160
      Aprilia offers 14-inch alloy wheels on SR 160 while it tips the weighing scales at 122 kilos in the current model. Other features include a semi-digital instrument console as standard and a windscreen and perimeter-type crash guards that are offered as accessories. SR 160 is currently priced between Rs 1.09 lakh and Rs 1.16 lakh (ex-showroom). We can expect a slight bump in prices with the given set of updates.

      With the addition of two new bikes, Aprilia now has a total of four bikes in its India portfolio. The other two are its flagship V4 models, Tuono V4 and RSV4. These are priced at Rs 20.66 lakh and Rs 23.69 lakh, respectively. The Italian manufacturer also offers 125cc and 160cc scooters in India.
      Aprilia RS 660 styling and features
      For track experience, Aprilia RS 660 is probably one of the suitable bikes currently available in the Indian market. It is also the true-blue head turner on the streets. The bike has an aerodynamic profile and sharp design silhouette. Deliveries have now started. National level professional racer Alisha Abdullah has taken the delivery of first Aprilia RS 660 in India.
      Front fascia looks aggressive with features such as dual-beam LED headlight and integrated sleek LED DRLs. Other key features include large windshield, low-set, wide handlebar, sculpted fuel tank, underbelly exhaust, coloured wheels, and short tail.
      There are three colour options for Aprilia RS 660, all of which are truly unique and drool-worthy. Most exciting is Lava Red colour option, which utilizes a mix of dark blue and bright red. Another enticing option is Apex Black, which is essentially an all-black colour theme. It utilizes red highlights for a more vibrant look and feel.

      The third colour option is Acid Gold, which has a green-yellow paint. Golden USD forks are offered with all of these colour options. It works to enhance the bike’s sporty profile.

      Both RS 660 and its naked sibling Tuono 660 are powered by a 659cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled motor. It is capable of generating 100 bhp of max power at 10,500 rpm and 67 Nm of peak torque at 8,500 rpm. It is mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
      RS 660 packs in a range of advanced features that were originally designed for a track environment. They have been tweaked to suit city ride conditions. Collectively, these features are available under Aprilia Performance Ride Control (APRC). The system works via various electronic components, acceleration sensors and gyroscopes.
      APRC package for RS 660 includes traction control, wheelie control, cruise control, engine brake during deceleration, engine map and cornering ABS with three levels of adjustment. Another key feature is quick shift that allows fast gear shifts without the need to reduce throttle or use the clutch. Users can also downshift without having to use the clutch.
      Suspension system on-board RS 660 comprises 41mm inverted front forks and monoshock suspension at rear. Braking apparatus has 320 mm double disc and 220 mm single disc and front and rear, respectively. Brembo callipers are used at both ends. Dual-channel ABS is offered as standard.
      Price of Aprilia bikes is on the higher side, as they are imported into India as completely built units (CBUs). In comparison, bikes of similar capacity from Suzuki and Kawasaki are imported as CKDs. These work out cheaper, as taxation is less on CKDs as compared to CBUs. More

      Aprilia, over the past few years, has carved out a niche space for itself in the Indian two-wheeler industry as a premium brand. While its presence may not be as prominent as some of the other brands in the market but it surely knows a lot about making attractive and fun-to-ride two-wheelers.
      The Italian manufacturer might be looking to update some of the products in its portfolio in the coming future. A fully disguised prototype of what seemed like SR 125 or SR 160 was spotted recently in Pune. Images are credit to automotive enthusiast Priyam Chitransh, who shared the images on Rushlane Spylane Facebook Group. The test mule appears to be a mildly updated iteration of either one of the scooters.
      The SR range of scooters hasn’t got any serious updates ever since they were launched a few years back. In a market like India where competition is cut-throat, regular updates to a product are a key for success and longevity. The forthcoming update is most likely to be cosmetic in nature and there might be a few feature upgrades as well.
      Possible Updates
      A closer look at the recent spy shots suggests that it is most likely to be an updated SR 125. The most obvious indication here being a single-piece grab rail as opposed to the split grab rails offered in SR 160. Only the rear quarter end of the scooter is visible and it doesn’t give out a lot. The updates will surely be of a very subtle nature as nothing specific can be comprehended from these images.
      New Aprilia Scooter Spied In Pune
      The most significant addition seems to be a new instrument console which is fully digital. The existing SR range gets semi-digital cluster, unlike the SXR range – which gets full digital cluster. It is likely that the new SR range will get the full digital cluster from the SXR range in the next update. It will offer a range of information from the speedometer, tachometer, odometer, distance to empty and more.
      If Aprilia is generous, it could even offer connectivity technologies such as Bluetooth and smartphone connectivity. The company might even offer fresh colour schemes with the scooter.
      SR 125, SR 160 Specs
      There are unlikely to be any mechanical changes. Powering SR 125 is a 124.49cc, single-cylinder engine that pushes out 9.4 bhp at 7250rpm and a peak torque of 9.9 Nm at 6,250rpm. Suspension duties are handled by telescopic forks at front and a mono-shock at rear. Braking hardware consists of a single 220mm disc brake upfront and a 140mm drum brake at the rear.
      On the other hand, SR 160 is powered by a larger 160cc single-cylinder motor which cranks out 10.7bhp at 7600rpm and 11.6Nm at 6000rpm. It gets the same hardware configurations as its less powerful sibling. While SR 125 is priced between Rs 94,288 and Rs 96,811, SR 160 is currently available at a price of Rs 1.09 lakh – Rs 1.16 lakh (all prices ex-showroom). More

      After much delay, Aprilia has finally launched the much awaited RS 660 motorcycle in India. It is priced at Rs 13.39 lakh in India. Its naked sibling, Tuono 660 is priced at Rs 13.09 lakh. All prices are ex-sh.
      The first units of the middleweight supersport motorcycle have started reaching dealerships across the country. Deliveries are expected to commence soon. Certain dealerships have even started accepting bookings for the latest RS 660.
      Design & Features
      Upfront, RS 660 gets a menacing face that features a dual-beam LED headlight with integrated LED DRLs. It gets a muscular fuel tank, an aggressive front fairing, rearview mirrors mounted on front apron, a rider-only seat, a raised windshield, underbelly exhaust and an elevated tail section. The golden-coloured front forks add another charm to the sports bike.

      In terms of features, the bike receives an all-LED illumination and a colour TFT instrument cluster. Apart from these, it also boasts a host of rider-based electronic aids which includes a six-axis IMU called APRC (Aprilia Performance Ride Control) system.
      The IMU comprises features such as three-level cornering ABS, traction control, adjustable wheelie control, engine brake control and more. RS 660 is also equipped with a cruise control system, a bidirectional quick-shifter and five riding modes namely Commute, Dynamic, Individual, Challenge and Time Attack.
      Mechanical Specs
      Tuono 660 and RS 660 derives its energy from a 659cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine with a 270-degree firing order. This motor is tuned to return an output of 100 bhp at 10,500rpm and 67 Nm of peak torque at 8,500rpm. This engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox, integrated with Aprilia Quick Shift (AQS) up and down system.
      Suspension duties on the motorcycle will be handled by 41mm inverted forks at front and a mono-shock unit at rear attached to an asymmetrical aluminium swingarm. Braking duties are performed by 320 mm double disc at the front and 220 mm single disc at the rear. The bike employs Brembo calipers at both ends. It is being speculated that they have reached the company’s facility in Baramati. Imported as CBUs, the unopened boxes clearly mention ‘Made in Italy’.
      Some units have also been unboxed and posing with one of them is Diego Graffi, Chairman CEO and MD, Piaggio Vehicles Private Limited. Along with RS 660, its naked sibling Tuono 660 will also be launched in India.
      As per an earlier leaked document, RS 660 will be available at a starting price of Rs 13.39 lakh. Tuono 660 will be slightly cheaper at Rs 13.09 lakh. We will have to wait for an official confirmation regarding the pricing and exact launch dates of these bikes.
      Aprilia RS 660 design and features
      Being imported as CBUs, Aprilia RS 660 can be expected to be largely the same as the international-spec model. As far as looks are concerned, RS 660 gets top marks for its design and styling and dominating road presence.

      The highly competitive middle-weight adventure tourer segment has received a new European entrant in the form of Aprilia Tuareg 660. The Piaggio-owned sportsbike marque has revived its old nameplate with a product which conforms to the original philosophy.
      Aprilia Tuareg 660 – Overview
      The styling, however, has nothing in common with any of Aprilia’s existing and previous models. The striking front fascia with compartmentalised headlamp cluster and tall windscreen is highly unconventional. With a tall stance, massive fuel tank, comfortable seats and an upward sweeping exhaust canister, the Aprilia Tuareg 660 is a typical adventure tourer which is not afraid to get its tyres dirty.
      The Italian motorcycle is equipped with spoke wheels (21 inch front and 18 inch rear), dual-purpose tyres, long-travel (240 mm) upside down front telescopic forks and progressive linkage rear suspension system, twin front discs and a single rear disc. Everything is held together by a trellis frame. The Aprilia Tuareg 660’s hardcore appeal makes it a serious rival to the Yamaha Tenere 700 and BMW F 860 GS.
      Engine and equipment
      The 660 cc V-twin liquid-cooled engine has been borrowed from the RS660 and Tuono 660. This motor is essentially a twin-cylinder derivative of the iconic RSV4’s unit but on board the adventure tourer, it is tuned to suit the application. Power and torque outputs stand at 80 hp and 70 Nm of torque, and the gearbox is a 6-speed unit.
      Aprilia Tuareg 660 Adventure
      Aprilia will position its newest offering at the premium end of the segment, and will back it up with a comprehensive suite of APRC electronic gadgetry including traction control, cruise control, engine braking, fuel maps, and so on. The motorcycle will have four riding modes of which two are adjustable, switchable ABS, LED headlamp, and a colour TFT instrument cluster with possible Bluetooth connectivity. The Tuareg 660 weights 187 kg dry and carries an 18-liter fuel tank.
      Launch and price
      Aprilia has not announced the price of the Tuareg 660 yet but one can expect it to be more expensive than most of its rivals given that it is equipped up to its gills. The Italian brand is expected to launch the motorcycle in international markets towards the end of this year as a 2022 model.
      While there is a good chance that Tuareg 660 is coming to India, we may have to wait longer than most other markets. As of now, Piaggio India is working on introducing the RS660 and its naked sibling Tuono 660 in our market.
      The product will give Aprilia access to the highly lucrative global medium displacement adventure tourer market. The Tuareg has the potential to become the brand’s international best seller in a very short period of time. Could a bigger engined Tuareg be in the pipeline? More

      Track-ready Aprilia GPR250R has been launched in the Chinese market, where it will take on rivals such as Suzuki GSX250R, Chunfeng 250SR, Benelli 302R and QJ Motor Chase 350. Aprilia has also introduced the entry level GPR150R, which would appeal to folks with limited budget. The smaller capacity GPR150R is available in both ABS and non-ABS versions. Prices are 22,980 Yuan (~ Rs 2.65 lakh) and 20,980 Yuan (~ Rs 2.42 lakh), respectively.
      Aprilia GPR250R styling and features
      A number of styling bits have been borrowed from litre class Aprilia motorcycles such as RSV4. GPR250R gets an aggressive front fascia with snazzy LED headlamp, aerodynamic wind shield, sleek turn indicators, sculpted fuel tank, underbelly exhaust, alloy wheels and short tail section.
      The bike is equipped with a TFT colour instrument console that displays a range of information such as rpm, speed, engine temperature, odometer, and fuel gauge. Colour options include matte black and bright silver.
      The bike has a largely blacked-out look and comes with red graphics on the side fairing. The only major difference between the two colour options is in the colour of the fuel tank. The colour of graphics on the fuel tank is also different for both options.
      New Aprilia 250cc Motorcycle
      With rear-set foot pegs and flat handle bar, the bike offers an aggressive riding stance. It may work for short sprints, but may not be suitable for daily commutes in heavy, slow moving traffic. However, when used on race tracks or open roads, Aprilia GPR250R can get you close to the MotoGP experience.
      Aprilia GPR250R engine and specs
      Powering GPR250R is a 250cc water cooled, single cylinder, dual camshaft, 4-valve DOHC motor. It is capable of generating 28 ps of max power at 9000 rpm and 21.5 Nm of peak torque at 7500 rpm. It is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The bike has been equipped with slipper clutch and EFI system from Bosch.
      Frame used for the bike is a double-wing beam aluminium unit. Suspension system comprises USD forks at the front and monoshock rear suspension. Braking duties are performed by 218 mm disc at the front and 300 mm disc at the rear. Dual-channel ABS is offered as standard. GPR250R measures 1970mm in length, 770mm in width and 1150mm in height. Wheelbase is 1345mm. The bike weighs 158 kg and can carry 14 litres of fuel.
      At this point of time, Aprilia doesn’t seem to have plans to launch GPR250R in the Indian market. Here, it will have multiple rivals in the form of respective 250cc sports bikes from Yamaha, Honda, KTM and Suzuki. More
