Mahindra’s Electric Origin SUVs have been developed around a Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) architecture, allowing compatible features and capabilities to evolve even after a vehicle has been delivered. Newly launched BE 6 Sporteq is the latest demonstration of this approach, introducing six new TEQ suites covering AI, entertainment, driving, personalisation and security.
Underpinning this technology is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chipset, among the most advanced and powerful automotive-grade processors available today. More importantly, these developments won’t remain limited to BE 6 Sporteq. Mahindra plans to start rolling out compatible features to other Electric Origin SUVs, including existing BE 6, XEV 9e and XEV 9S, from January 2027.
New BE 6 Sporteq Features Coming To BE 6, XEV 9e, XEV 9S Existing Owners
Traditionally, features available when buying a car largely remained unchanged throughout its ownership. SDVs are changing that equation. With much of the vehicle controlled through software, manufacturers can add or improve compatible functionality through OTA updates without requiring owners to visit a workshop.
This means the arrival of BE 6 Sporteq is relevant not only to new buyers but also to existing Mahindra Electric Origin SUV owners. Where the necessary hardware is already available, some of the new capabilities introduced with Sporteq can be extended to vehicles already on the road.
Mahindra has grouped the new functionality under six TEQ suites – TEQ_Talk, TEQ_Play, TEQ_Drive, TEQ_Me, TEQ_Secure and TEQ_xting.
TEQ_Talk – Google Gemini Comes To The Car
TEQ_Talk introduces Google Gemini integration and is designed to make interaction with the vehicle more natural. Mahindra says the system uses 17 specialised AI agents and supports more than 100 core functions.
These cover areas including vehicle controls, navigation, music and news. Natural voice interaction and support for regional languages should also make voice-based controls more useful for Indian users.
TEQ_Play – More Entertainment Inside
TEQ_Play focuses on enhancing in-cabin entertainment, led by console-grade gaming with support for up to four controllers. Gaming can also extend to additional BYOD screens, enabling a more immersive multiplayer experience. Mahindra claims it is the first OEM in India to offer an in-car gaming suite with BYOD support.

Other features include Karaoke—another India-first OEM claim—along with Private Audio, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, GrooveMe Party and Milestone.
TEQ_Drive – New Driving Capabilities
TEQ_Drive demonstrates how software can also influence the way a vehicle drives. It brings functions including Custom Drive Mode and Drift Mode along with Revive and Revive SOS.
Revive functionality is designed to provide access to up to 13 km of emergency driving range after the displayed battery state of charge reaches 0%, subject to applicable conditions. It can be enabled up to five times. This is particularly interesting from an SDV perspective because the upgrades go beyond infotainment or cosmetic interface changes and extend to vehicle functionality.
TEQ_Me – Car Recognises The User
TEQ_Me uses the in-cabin camera to enable user profiles with automatic detection. Once the vehicle identifies a user, it can apply previously saved preferences.
These can include seat position, climate preferences and other personalised vehicle settings. It effectively allows multiple users of the same vehicle to have their preferred environment automatically configured.
TEQ_Secure – Enhanced Vehicle Security
TEQ_Secure expands the connected security capabilities of Mahindra Electric Origin SUVs. Secure360 Pro enables a live view along with audio relay and intrusion alerts.
Other additions include parental controls for the third screen and expanded support for NFC and Digital Key. Digital Key functionality extends across compatible iPhones, Apple Watch, Android and Samsung devices.
TEQ_xting – Personalisation Goes Outside The Car
TEQ_xting brings another layer of personalisation, with Custom Tailgate Messaging being one of the more interesting additions. It allows users to display short personalised messages through the vehicle’s rear interface. While relatively simple compared to some of the other TEQ features, it demonstrates how software can also be used to change the way owners interact with and personalise their vehicles.
SDVs Can Keep Evolving After Purchase
This is where the broader significance of BE 6 Sporteq becomes apparent. With a conventional vehicle, the features and capabilities available at purchase largely remain fixed until the vehicle is replaced. An SDV can potentially continue evolving through software.
It doesn’t mean every new feature can automatically be added to every existing vehicle. Some functions depend on specific cameras, sensors, processors or other hardware. As a result, the exact Sporteq features reaching existing BE 6, XEV 9e and XEV 9S owners will depend on hardware compatibility.
But where the necessary hardware already exists, Mahindra eSUVs OTA update can unlock new functionality without owners having to upgrade to a newer vehicle. It also means that the arrival of a newer model doesn’t necessarily make an existing vehicle feel outdated overnight.
BE 6 Sporteq Launch Is Good News For Existing Owners Too
BE 6 Sporteq therefore provides a glimpse of what Mahindra can do with its SDV architecture in the years ahead. Its six TEQ suites introduce a range of new capabilities, but their significance extends beyond the Sporteq itself.
Starting January 2027, Mahindra plans to bring compatible features to its broader Electric Origin SUV family, including vehicles already with customers. Hardware limitations mean the exact feature set may vary between models and variants.
For existing owners, however, the larger takeaway is significant. Their BE 6, XEV 9e or XEV 9S does not necessarily have to remain exactly as it was on the day of delivery. As Mahindra develops new software-driven capabilities, compatible features can continue making their way to cars already on the road – one of the biggest advantages of the transition towards Software Defined Vehicles.
