Two-wheeler retail sales registered healthy year-on-year growth in June 2026, although volumes saw a marginal decline compared to May 2026

India’s two-wheeler retail market posted strong year-on-year growth in June 2026, driven by healthy demand across both ICE and electric segments. As per the latest FADA retail data, a total of 18,28,458 two-wheelers were sold in June 2026, up 21.22% from 15,08,378 units sold in June 2025. On a month-on-month basis, however, retail sales dipped 0.89% compared to 18,44,947 units retailed in May 2026.

Hero MotoCorp sold 4,72,144 units in June 2026, registering a 17.51% YoY growth over 4,01,803 units sold in June last year. However, Hero witnessed an 8.84% decline compared to May 2026 and accounted for 25.82% of the retail market.

Honda followed closely with 4,52,754 units, growing 20.74% YoY while remaining almost flat month-on-month with a marginal 0.07% increase. Honda now commands a 24.76% market share, narrowing the difference with Hero to under 20,000 units. TVS Motor continued its strong momentum with 3,59,243 units, up 22.76% YoY and 0.81% MoM, giving it a market share of 19.65%.

Bajaj Auto retailed 1,88,145 units, registering 13.52% YoY growth despite a 4.85% decline over May. Suzuki Motorcycle India crossed the one lakh mark with 1,05,057 units, while Royal Enfield retailed 94,548 motorcycles, recording a healthy 25.42% YoY growth. Yamaha posted one of the strongest performances among mainstream brands with 67,696 units, up 34.76% year-on-year.

EV makers continue gaining ground

Among electric two-wheeler manufacturers, Ather Energy delivered another standout performance. Retail sales nearly doubled to 31,230 units, representing 95% YoY growth. Greaves Electric Mobility (Ampere) grew by 153.60%, River EV registered 214.44% growth, while BGauss almost doubled its sales with 98.33% YoY growth. Ola Electric remained the only major manufacturer to report a decline, with retail sales falling 21.97% to 16,150 units.

During the April-June 2026 quarter, India recorded total two-wheeler retail sales of 55,89,663 units, representing a 13.62% YoY increase over 49,19,597 units sold during the corresponding quarter last year. Hero MotoCorp continued to lead quarterly sales with 15,42,240 units, followed by Honda at 13,77,463 units and TVS at 10,84,448 units.

Honda registered stronger quarterly growth than Hero, expanding 15.14%, while Hero grew 8.48%. TVS also posted a healthy 17.51% increase. Among notable performers, Yamaha grew 23.82%, Royal Enfield expanded 15.09%, while Ather nearly doubled quarterly sales with 99.10% growth. River EV emerged as the fastest-growing brand, with retail sales increasing 245.80%, followed by BGauss (135.24%) and Greaves Ampere (101.84%). Ola Electric, however, reported a 26.94% decline during the quarter.

2W EV share crosses 10%

Fuel-wise retail data shows that electric two-wheelers continue to gain market share. Petrol-powered two-wheelers accounted for 89.33% of June retail sales, down from 92.44% a year earlier. Electric two-wheelers increased their share to 10.60%, compared to 7.34% in June 2025 and 9.25% in May 2026. CNG/LPG-powered two-wheelers remained negligible at 0.07% of the market.
