  • Toyota announced that the 2020 Camry with all-wheel-drive will start at $27,325 for the Camry LE, compared with $25,925 for the front-wheel-drive Camry LE. AWD costs an additional $1400 on all trim levels.
  • The all-wheel-drive system is available on the LE, SE, XLE, XSE, and Nightshade models.
  • They’ll arrive starting in spring 2020, and the all-wheel-drive version of the 2021 Avalon will be arriving in fall 2020.

Toyota is adding all-wheel-drive drivetrains to its 2020 Camry sedan. AWD will be available on the LE, SE, XLE, XSE, and Nightshade models, and on each it costs an additional $1400. AWD models have a 2.5-liter inline-four engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The system is taken straight from the Toyota RAV4 crossover, and it will soon be available on the 2021 Avalon sedan, too, starting in fall 2020. On that larger Toyota, the AWD system will be available to customers on only the Avalon XLE and Limited models.

On the Camry’s new all-wheel-drive system, up to 50 percent of torque can be sent to the rear wheels. When help from the AWD system isn’t needed, power can be cut off from the rear wheels, making it front-wheel drive. Toyota says this should help with fuel economy.

The 2020 Toyota Camry AWD models will be available starting in spring 2020, and AWD will cost an additional $1400 on all trim levels. The Camry LE with all-wheel-drive starts at $27,325, the SE at $28,525, the XLE at $31,810, the XSE at $32,360, and the Nightshade at $29,225.
